If you had to pick a Peak District place, you'd be displaying tiptop taste if you went for Ashbourne. For there are many whys: it’s at the southern tip of the Peak District and a gateway to the same; it leads straight on to the Tissington Trail, and it’s sevenish miles from the heady heights of Alton Towers. More? It's also been the site of a raucous game of football every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday since medieval times; and (possibly related), one in every four of its buildings is or has been an inn or brewery. It's not a bit surprising that illustrious visitors in its past have included Bonnie Prince Charlie and Charles I, although they probably didn’t have time to stop off for a game of footie… Add to your list Ashbourne Heights (formerly known as Highfields Park), three miles from town, well placed to reach a range of market towns like Bakewell and Buxton, and with a good range of facilities and services to fire the family up. From the site you can reach the main sights, activities, landscapes and history of the Peak District: too many to go into here, but do bring your camera. Ashbourne Heights has a heated indoor pool, and generously-sized pitches with room for awnings, gazebos and a car parked alongside. Liked The park and swimming pool were great and clean.

Disliked The toilets were too much of a walk when you have small children. Also walking through a wooded area when it’s pitched black isn’t nice.
The portaloos that were the only option in the field we were in were absolutely disgusting. They smelt and were full. My children constantly asked what that smell was as we could smell them in our tent.

Liked Lovely site. We stayed in one of the new bell tents which were brilliant. Our daughter enjoyed the space to run around and very much enjoyed the swimming pool and playground. Proximity to the Tissington Trail was a bonus so we could cycle to Ashbourne and Tissington. Lovely traffic free relatively flat route perfect for our daughter who is still leartto cycle. Lots to do in the area as well. The staff at the site are also very friendly and cannot do enough to help.

Disliked The bell tents are certainly new and I get the feeling the field they and additional camping are in is new as well. In the future I hope they add a toilet and shower block with washing up facilities to this field as it was a little bit of a walk to the other block to do washing up or have a shower. The Portaloos for the bell tents were brilliant though.

Liked Bell tent is spacious. Park is big with big playground.

Disliked Swimming is small and the water is cold. Shared bathroom not so clean. Bin always full.

Liked Well maintained campsite and the location of the Bell tents was lovely. The Bell tents themselves were spacious well laid out. The staff were also great.

Disliked Portaloos - though I understand why
Beds - Really uncomfortable and the reason why it wasn't a10. The metal base was like a tea tray with the mattress not being deep enough to compensate.

Liked Beautiful Bell tent, clean tidy & the surrounding area is just perfect for a relaxing break. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, super easy to book & a great added bonus.

Disliked The only thing I have to say is the quality of the mattresses in the bell tents, there more like a camping mat rather than a “mattress”. Quick trip to the range & £15 later on an air bed & we were more than happy.

Liked The peaceful atmosphere.
Tents were lovely and cosy.
Lovely space for the kids to play.
Food vendors were nice.
Really well stocked shop.
Lovely play area.

Disliked Swimming pool opening hours, need to be open longer.
Beds were a little hard.
Needs its own shower block/ toilets/pot washing in the field.
Such a shame campfires arent allowed 😟(best part of camping for me)

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £25.00 fee.

Dogs

Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
