Lovely peaceful site with fabulous facilities and welcoming owners

Aug 2026

Liked lovely little site. Very flat and plenty of room for everyone, with small trees dotted about giving a sense of personal space to each pitch. Facilities are spotless and the showers are wonderful - well kept and spacious, easy to control - a handy temperature dial for incase the shower gets “scalding” - who knew?? Lovely touch of free tea and coffee in the mornings. The walk through the woods to Romsey is stunning. Romsey itself is well worth a visit - lovely little town with loads of charity shops, cafes and a cat cafe! (Booking required). The fish lake reserve is lovely as is the river Test all walkable from site (long walk) A lovely stay despite the weather!

Utter peace and quiet surrounded by enchanting forests

Aug 2026

Liked Every time I visit this place I fall in love more and more. It’s just the perfect escape. Rachel works tirelessly to keep the facilities spotless and every time I come there’s a new improvement. The new compost toilets and washing up areas are brilliant. The surrounding area is wonderful for walks. Enchanting forests and stunning views. I see deer on every walk (granted I am able to be quiet as solo travelling) and there are a million different walks from site. Don’t just stick to the South Downs Way - enter the forest and be amazed! Zero noise at night - just the bubbles in my drink popping and the tree leaves rustling. Bats diving around at dusk. Buzzards in the day. Wildlife thriving. Just a beautiful place.

Perfect and peaceful with great facilities.

Jul 2026

Liked Best site I’ve been to in a while. Utterly peaceful, loads of space. Level pitches with choice of full sun or under the shady trees. Loads of wildlife around using the beautiful mature oak trees and surrounding woodland. Lots of great walks from site - the Vanguard Way and Weald Way walks are well signposted. Facilities are really well organised and kept spotless and it’s so useful to have hot running water to wash up. What I loved most was the completely relaxed and slow paced vibe and how everyone respected that.

Best campsite in the Peak District! Everything was perfect.

Jul 2026

Liked Beautiful little site with everything you could ask for and more. Stunning views, lush grass, spotless facilities and quite luxurious by camping standards! Hot water for washing up, nice area to get out of the elements if needed, fantastic showers. Great walks from site, loads of animals and near to loads of great peak district attractions- nature/towns/villages/caves etc. Stephanie was very friendly and helpful and works so hard to keep everyone happy. Will definitely be back as it’s one of the best Peak District campsites I’ve found!

Remote site with lovely facilities. Walkers paradise.

May 2026

Liked The site is small but set in lovely countryside with views of the mountains. It is quite sheltered with lots of trees so if you want the sun pick your spot wisely! Levelling blocks are definitely needed for campervans. Facilities are great and amazing to have hot water to wash up with. The showers are a stroll away but that’s part of the charm of this place - they and the shop are set up at the farm and are very quaint. The farm shop does amazing coffee and pastries. So many walks right on the doorstep too. Highly recommend taking the open top bus to Keswick or Buttermere for just £3!. So easy to use and better than taking the car. Quite a white knuckle ride if you sit at the top but great to see all the views!

Disliked I arrived in terrible weather and some of the campervan spots were so muddy I almost got stuck. Some bark chippings thrown down in bad weather might help? Couldn’t get logs despite asking twice but the weather wasn’t brilliant for a campfire so I went without.

Super well organised site with a relaxing vibe

May 2026

Liked This has to be one of the most well run campsites I’ve ever stayed at. It was so busy but still enough space on the completely level field to find a pitch. And although it was heaving with campers the vibe was good and relaxed with everyone adhering to no noise late in the evening. The reception and shop are well stocked and welcoming. The owners are constantly making deliveries of logs to campers and checking all is ok. The facilities are spotless despite so many users with lovely touches like hand soap and moisturiser. The showers cost 50p for 10 mins but they are really really good showers!! Everything has been thought out and organised for campers to have a wonderful stay. I prefer a less busy site but still had a perfect stay. The Ingleborough trail and cave is just down the road and well worth a visit. £3 for the trail which is a lovely walk through conservation woods with a stream children can dabble in. You can also hike further all the way to the top of Ingleborough mountain which has stunning views the entire way.

Brilliant campsite with everything you could ask for.

May 2026

Liked Beautiful remote site. Lush green grass on a field that sweeps down to ponds with views of hills in the background. The shop is brimming with local produce. Facilities basic but good. Lovely to see chickens cows donkeys and sheep roaming around freely. Owner was very welcoming and helpful. I had a peaceful stay and would definitely return.

Disliked It wasn’t nice to see one of the cows being encouraged back after a bid for freedom. The man sat on his mini tractor nudging her back legs repeatedly when she was already walking fast in the right direction which must have hurt her. I thought unnecessarily cruel.

Liked This really is the perfect campsite. Utterly peaceful. Liked Beautiful little campsite. Perfect amenities and amazing to have hot water to wash up. Showers are brilliant. Everything is well thought out and kept clean. The location is remote but near to great pub, cafe and lovely river walks. The birdlife is unreal - so much activity and wonderful to watch the crows doing their pre roost circling ritual every night. Had a very relaxing and peaceful stay here and will definitely return.

Remote peaceful campsite with superb surrounding views

Sept 2025

Liked Absolutely gorgeous campsite. 360 degree stunning views, lots of level pitches - few slightly sloping. Beautiful lush grass to walk around barefoot. And so much bird life - swallows everywhere and buzzards circling. You feel in the middle of nowhere yet Castleton village is a 15 minute walk. Easy access to the Mam Tor trailhead with tonnes of walks in every direction. You can see the campsite from the hills and appreciate how remote it is. Toilets are proper flushing and spotless but no drinking water. I stupidly assumed you could still boil a kettle with it but no, this seriously is not drinkable. I would hesitate to wash up dishes with it so make sure you bring your own!!! Castleton village is a gorgeous little place and the Farm shop at the bottom of the lane from the campsite is a real treat - fantastic food/cakes and they have a large gang of ducks/chickens who wander around completely unfazed by humans/dogs on leads - just watch your food purchases as they do pester you!

Basic site with nice views. Very peaceful location

Aug 2025

Liked Nice site with lovely view of the local vineyards and hills. Toilets and showers were clean and lovely to have hot water. The washing up sink outside needs to be plumbed in. Very misleading advertising as campers are unable to use the activity centre Nextdoor. It is for groups of 12 minimum (scouts/guides/organised groups etc) and no option for campers to do any of the activities advertised which was really disappointing. However the Paddlesports at Weirwood Reservoir (15 min drive away) has a variety of water sports to choose from. Lovely cafe there and stunning walks around the reservoir. The campsite is only level at the top of the hill, with room for a few pitches. The rest of the space is completely unpitchable as severely sloping. Unadvertised is the beautiful walk at the bottom left of the field which takes you onto the mid Sussex link route. The woods there are lovely with a little stream flowing through - perfect for kids and dogs to play in. All sorts of wildlife around too.

Lovely site with clean facilities.

Aug 2025

Liked Lovely site with gorgeous views. The field is very sloping and at peak times you would be hard pushed to find a level pitch. Many lovely walks from site - the Jubilee trail is one and there are dozens of other East Sussex footpaths - and the pub is 5 mins away. The beach is 10 mins away down a very very steep hill (hard work coming back up!) I couldn’t find a non road route. There are no shops around and nothing at the beach midweek anymore which would have been handy to know. The farm shop has quite a few supplies as stated. The compost toilets (one in each field) were spotless and very well stocked. The site is peaceful with lovely views and a walkers paradise.

Disliked The inconsiderate tw6t that ran their car engine constantly all evening long on Monday night. Probably charging their brat offspring’s iPad…..

From the manager: Thank you for the 8/10 review! Sorry, I didn't realise the lock was broken until you mentioned it in this review. I am getting it fixed today, thanks for raising it. I have bags of logs in my car, ready for anyone that asks. I don't advertise logs in case the farmer hasn't got any ready, it depends on his workload. Warm wishes, Caroline

Paradise on a hilltop with great facilities.

Jul 2025

Liked What a site! Stunning views and the animals are all adorable. The barn is a wonderful facility to have with food and drink served in lovely surroundings inside and out. Toilets are way nicer than mine at home and kept spotless! Yes you can hear the A628 but so nice to sit on a hilltop watching the slaves to 9-5 racing up and down while you can just chill to birdsong and rolling hills! The swallows are a sight to see and bats too. Good campfire wood sold in cardboard boxes which makes a pleasant change from the environmentally questionable orange net bags. Lovely walks from site and the waterfall is a 30 min walk and spectacular to see. Not that many level pitches - vans are ok with levelling ramps. The views at night are something to see too!

Spacious peaceful site with open skies and beautiful views

Jul 2025

Liked Lovely vast field with pitches laid all around the edge. Lovely views of the surrounding hills and good walks from the site. Toilets are portaloos and were spotless my entire visit. Loads of space for kids to play and nice little play area for them. Lots of wildlife - swallows doing acrobatics and birds of prey soaring. You really feel in the middle of nowhere and away from hustle and bustle of everyday life here - completely relaxing.

Disliked It was blissfully quiet/empty for most of my visit but when other campers arrived they were all pitched near each other despite a huge empty field?! Maybe it’s just me but I like to be as remote from neighbours as possible - although I do appreciate maybe that is not the norm?!!

Really great site. Huge level field…

Jul 2025

Liked Really great site. Huge level field with lovely views of the South Downs. Facilities are great - lovely showers! The field is huge but when busy it does get very crowded around the edges and my neighbours were very close so not much privacy but everyone was lovely so not a problem. You can walk from site to the hills you can see within an hour - Folkington hill and Chrome hill are beautiful walks and well worth it - spectacular 360 degree views. Despite quite a busy weekend the site was extremely peaceful and relaxing.

Jun 2025

Liked This is just the most perfect site. 360 degree gorgeous views. Fantastic walks in every direction - plus a beautiful walk down to the sea and local pub. Facilities are spotless and amazing to have hot water to wash up with. The sounds of wildlife and birdwatching are lovely and you can’t hear anything else but skylarks calling! Really nice to have soft clean grass to walk barefoot on across the entire site - most sites have thistles/stones/uncut grass. Lovely friendly hosts and nothing is too much trouble. My second stay here and I will return for definite as it is without doubt the most peaceful calming site I’ve ever stayed at.
