Small Trees Campsite: Happy campers

General

  • Spacious pop-up site five minutes' drive from Romsey
  • New Forest and Peppa Pig World within 10 minutes' drive
  • Dog-friendly pitches with no artificial light for great stargazing

Small Trees Campsite is a spacious pop-up site in the Hampshire countryside, about five minutes’ drive from Romsey.

The large camping field here is surrounded by a variety of trees, and you can choose to pitch in an open space or a more sheltered spot. Families and dogs are welcome, and the latter can be walked nearby on Canada Common.

Life on site is all very peaceful – you may well spot kites and buzzards circling overhead, and can finish your day warming up by a firepit, which you can hire on site (on a first come, first served basis); wood is also available to buy. On selected evenings you’ll also be able to buy wood-fired pizzas for an easy evening meal as the sun sets.

A water supply and separate male and female toilets are available on site, but please note that there’s absolutely no artificial light here so you’ll need a torch to find your way around after dark. The trade-off, of course, is that the lack of light pollution often leads to some stunning stargazing on site.

As for getting out and about, you can cycle over to the New Forest in about half an hour, or hail a bus from the stop a short walk away for services to Salisbury, Romsey or Peppa Pig World.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

This site has no on-site shower facilities.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

There are no bins onsite: all rubbish will need to be taken home with you.

We camped at Small Trees for two nights at the end of August and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owners are very welcoming and friendly, coming around to greet each guest in the early evening and offering the opportunity to rent a fire pit and purchase logs.

What really really liked about Small Trees Is that we could choose any available space to pitch our tent, rather than being allocated a specific pitch. This is how I personally picture camping should be (but with the added convenience of having access to separate men's/ladies toilets, water and a wash up area)

We really appreciated the free tea and coffee in the morning as it saved having to boil water whilst still blurry eyed.

Although it was quite cloudy when we stayed there is absolutely no light pollution and you can really appreciate the stars in all their glory!
On that note, it's recommended that you bring a decent tourch or two as you can't see anything after dark (except for the very subtle glow of the the firepits)

You can rent firepits for a very reasonable price and purchase logs on site. If you bring your own firepit or barbecue then you are also allowed to use these and purchase the logs on site. (The owners deliver everything directly to your pitch!)

If using your own charcoal barbecue then you can purchase charcoal from the local petrol which is only a couple of miles down the road.

Thanks for your hospitality, We will be definitely visiting again in the future!

Lovely area, not too busy either so enough space in between each tent. Toilets were clean, but cubicles were quite small. Loved the tea and coffee put out every morning. The hosts were very accommodating and very friendly. We will be coming back soon.

WE had such a great time at Small Trees. It was the perfect location, like staying in a secluded orchard you could grab a spot anywhere with small trees dotted around that gave you privacy from the other campers. Beautiful views, well equipped toilet and washing up facilities and best of all the most awesome tyre swing which my kids leapt straight onto once we'd parked up.

The host was fab, checking on us twice and offering us free tea and coffee in the morning.

You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
