Our short stay in the camping pod was perfect

Aug 2025

Liked The little pod was perfect for two. Everything we needed. Comfortable, clean and private. The pull-down bed was easy to opperate and the bathroom too was perfect for our short two night stay. We didn't use the outdoor swimming pool but plenty of people did and they were all smiling (so that was obviously a hit with the kids and families). The bar (we did use) was perfect for a couple of drinks (wifi was available at the bar). The lady that worked at reception was very nice and helpful

Disliked No wifi

Perfect place to relax and unwind

Aug 2024

Liked We stayed in Redwood bell tent. Very very comfortable. Peaceful and restful with no traffic noise at night. Lots of space inside and outside the tent. It has a very comfortable bed and there's plenty of USB/13amp power sockets. Showers were great (hot and enough space to undress and dry off). The washing up hut was very clean and well maintained with kettle, fridge, freezer, sinks and a microwave. There was even a little herb garden for campsite guests to use. Nice touches around the site to decorate the boundaries and walkways. An information hut with visitor pamphlets and local information. Local takeaways deliver to the campsite. Grass and gravel borders well cared for with cascading flower baskets in full bloom. The site owners are so nice and caring. We were on a motorbike tour and forgot we needed to take our own cutlery, we joked to the owner about local shops not selling cutlery and he instantly stopped what he was doing to help with supplying what we needed. An absolutely comfortable, relaxing camp site. We would go again for sure

Perfect place for a happy, peaceful stay

Aug 2024

Liked Absolutely brilliant. We had the shepherds hut. Nice and warm with supplied tea, coffee, herbal-teas, sugar, milk, biscuits, a kettle and bottles of water. Cotton-buds, sanitary-products, make-up removal pads, tissues, towels, dressing-gowns etc. They thought of everything. We were on a motorbike tour so didn't have space for all the luxuries but Masons Arms thought of everything. A lovely breakfast was included (just fill out the breakfast form and select your choice from a fantastic range of options). There are occasional events and entertainment set up. The little village came alive for band night we were lucky to be there for (a really good tribute band playing everything rock to get you singing and dancing). There was no silly behavior. No excessive drunkenness. Everybody was happy. The local folk were really approachable and nice to talk to. Staff at the pub are amazing, all they want to do is support and help their guests. The food was really nice (good selection, well cooked and nicely presented). It's not a rowdy place at all. We had two nights of peace and great sleep on a very comfortable bed in a very well maintained camping area. The showers were hot, toilets clean, iron and hair dryer worked perfectly (even a baby change table). Every need catered for. We would go again in a heartbeat. Wi-Fi is always difficult wherever you camp so make sure you have data on your phone and if needed,- hot-spot to your tablet/laptop (worked for us). Happy memories

Happy memories of 2024 for us

Aug 2024

Liked We loved it. From the moment we arrived until the sad moment we left. The owners were lovely and helpful. We arrived on our motorbike and although we were too early (because we’d overestimated traffic), we were able to leave our panniers and top box so that we could use the day and visit somewhere. The campsite was very well manicured and quiet. Reminded me of the campsites my parents took me to as a child. A very welcome mobile coffee seller came in the morning to sell fresh ground coffee and croissants. The bell tent was perfect, very comfortable and warm with Plenty of ventilation options. Toilets, showers, wash basins etc we’re clean and modern. I rate Mena farm as one of my favourites and would definitely return. The toilet and shower cubicles were lockable and fully enclosed. A very safe and happy environment for everyone. Many thanks to Mena Farm

From the manager: Hi Andrew - it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both. I'm glad you managed to escape everyone at home, for some time for just the both of you, and that we were able to offer you the break you deserve. I hope you had a good trip home and please do come back and see us another time! With kindest regards, Ali & Neil

Secluded and peaceful

Aug 2024

Liked The gentle ambience of the campsite is my takeaway. Families with young children playing with plenty of room for them to play without upsetting the quieter holidaymakers. I’d say the site leans more toward adult happiness than children, so no rampaging kids because the adults seemed to be in charge. I know what some people have said but we didn’t experience anything negative. Our motorbike with around 300kilo fully laden, managed the steep driveway without difficulty and the very tight S-bend road before the site was a pillion test that we passed with flying colours thankfully. The seclusion and setting of the campsite are what we wanted and that’s what we got. The owners are really nice and engaging. The site itself is very well maintained. The shop offers enough to get by and prices are fair. Everyone seemed happy. We’ll worth a visit.

Disliked The early bird wood-pigeon that followed me from Leeds

A perfect getaway for peace and quiet

May 2024

Liked This was our best ever quiet getaway together. After many years being Mum & Dad, Grandma and Grandad and Foster carers, we had the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful restful time away from everything. The site is immaculate and welcoming. All the staff were friendly, professional and easy to relate to. Staff couldn't do enough for their visitors it seemed. Everyone was smiling. The wardens were very welcoming and helped us with our motorbike parking and introduced us to the pod we were staying in. They were always available and always interested in the needs of their guests. The, "luxury" pod we stayed in was so comfortable and clean that we really didn't want to leave. The pods and shepherds hut are set slightly away from the rest of the campsite with a narrow gravel path leading to their secluded, private part of the field. In the evening crows busied themselves in the trees as they decided where to roost for the night and cows moo in the distant field (all very romantic). But once the pod door is closed, those sounds disappear. Spot lights illuminate the woodland and grass in-front of the pods to make it look great as you burn a bit of wood in the evening in the provided wood-burning basket. The sink and shower water temperature is fully adjustable and the WiFi ran our phones and we were able to watch Netflix on out tablet. The en-suit shower, toilet and sink fit perfectly into the size of the camping pod and the bed was very comfortable. The glass door to the en-suit is one-way reflective glass so doubles as a full length mirror when getting dressed. All the provided cups, plates, cutlery etc were clean and fresh. Nothing tatty or used looking. The restaurant and shop feel more like relaxing therapy and make you want to sit back into one of their comfy arm chairs, sip coffee all day and watch the world go bye. There's even an old free-to-play table-top space invaders game for guests to use. It's a great place to relax while eating, waiting for meals to be prepared or while having a slice of cake and a pint. Plenty of very tasty hand prepared foods and drink to order with hardly a moment before used cups, plates and cutlery are whisked away and tables cleaned. Pizza night was a treat. Hand made and remarkably tasty. We love children but this is an adult only site. We're all parents and grandparents so we've served our time and need to unwind and rest. This is the place to do it without doubt. Children wouldn't enjoy sitting quietly looking at the trees and doing nothing anyway. We would absolutely go back to New Lodge Farm and do it all again and would recommend this to people who want restful peace and quiet with comfortable surroundings and perfect hosts.

Disliked I have nothing to add here. There was nothing to dislike at all.

I would go again for a relaxing break

Jun 2023

Liked Such a peaceful, relaxing place to spend your time. The owners are really nice (they make gorgeous croissants to order). The shoo was very good value and had a few welcome essentials. Pitches and other areas had plenty of space with nature encouraged in between pitches. We went on a motorbike and found the site manageable for two wheels. Parking was next to the tent and the hired teepee was really spacious and well kitted out with essentials. The bed was comfortable. The toilets and showers were immaculate and warm. I would definitely go again because it was peaceful. The site doesn’t have noisy entertainment or activities but that’s what makes it for me. Children were there and they were happy to entertain themselves.

Liked Loved our stay. With 3 teenage boys (16 and 17). Our plan was to avoid holiday sites with all the whistles and bells because the boys aren’t interested. All they want is wifi. We took an Xbox for the quiet moments and all was well. We wanted peace and quiet surrounded by trees and corn-fields and that’s what we got (the combine harvesters were cutting the corn when we arrived. You forget how big they are). Orchard Leaze isn’t far from places of interest, places to shop or places to eat. We visited the aquapark, Ingoldmells, Butlins and the cinema at Louth. We also went to Skegness, Mablethorpe and the local town Alford. There was a welcome book in the caravan and the last few pages have menus and takeaway phone numbers (but we ate out or cooked ourselves). The caravan was very tidy with plenty of cups, cutlery, plates and cooking equipment. A fridge, cooker/oven (all clean and new). There's also a table and seating next to the caravan. Beds and bedding were comfortable and the bathrooms clean and well maintained. Everything anybody could need for a holiday. The whole place was clean and very well maintained. The owners are nice down to earth people who engage with their guests like friends. The bathroom and toilets for the camping-pods were clean and well maintained. The grounds were ideal for a stress-free break. There’s also a communal BBQ area (gas or coal). Very nice. I would definitely go again.

Disliked I wasn't bothered because I used my phone data but the boys moaned that the Wifi was mostly unavailable on their phones

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, I'm pleased you enjoyed your visit and made the most of the lovely weather. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family and for the great conversations we had. Unfortunately being in a rural location our internet at the house and on site is very sporadic and the bandwidth varies greatly, so apologies for that.

We returned from camping at Masterland…

Aug 2018

Liked We returned from camping at Masterland Farm last night after a week of relaxing. I want to rate the site 10 out of 10 while it’s still fresh in my mind. We were a group of two adults and two teenage boys. The site was easy to find if you keep your eyes peeled. The “Masterland Farm” sign is in keeping with the area and is a respectable size when you consider the nature of the small village and the neighbours’ homes at either side of the entrance. Drive down the driveway and park up before visiting the reception. We were greeted by Molly at reception and she was lovely. Her equally nice family served us on our first evening at the bar/restaurant. Food was perfect for our needs. The homemade chicken nuggets were (in the words of my two teenage boys), “Awesome”. The menu catered for various tastes and preferences. My Wife and I don’t usually drink alcohol because of work but because the bar is on site I let my hair down and had a few jars of the local ales (bar opens 7.30pm). We all played pool and darts together. The booze naturally led to the inevitable 2am nature call. Struggling to quietly exit the tent, staggering around trying to put footwear on, scuffing the groundsheet while balancing on one leg. Tent walls don’t provide support when you’re falling and zips aren’t very quiet at that time of night either. I got there in the end and was rewarded by an amazing star filled visit to the toilets in near total silence. This part of Wales is beautiful and so long as you time your excursions well, it’s relatively easy to get about without hitting too much traffic. The beaches are amazing and parking prices aren’t overly expensive. Masterland Farm is very quiet and clean. To our delight there were no noisy families or late-night boozy laughing or shouting from gazebos as we’ve experienced at other sites in the past. I would say most holiday makers were over 50 (retired). The site is predominantly caravans with a few spaces for tents. We found everybody to be very friendly and happy (without exception). There isn’t anything for kids to do which might help to explain the peace and quiet hahaha. We took cards and the boys had some technology (there’s free wifi at the bar and outside seating). We also took an off-the-ground BBQ so we had enough to occupy us whenever we returned to the tent. Masterland Farm is pretty central to all the places we visited and although we clocked up the mileage, we had fun swimming in the sea, shopping, swimming pool, cinema and castles. We were in the middle area between the caravans and the pitch was plenty big enough. The caravaners were really pleasant as were the other campers. The toilet block and showers were sufficient for our needs. Clean and well maintained. We chose this site carefully as Foster Carers and found the site perfect for a child with delayed development who struggles at times. Especially around other children. We had the best short holiday we’ve had for years. Thank you Masterland Farm. We would gladly return.

Disliked If I had to gripe about anything it would be for something out of Masterland Farm's control. I would have to say it was two or three dog owners deliberately exercising their dogs on empty tent grass pitches to do both bodily functions. Near the dog exercising area and not in it (not attempting to go into it). Or worse still where children play or were playing. They obviously think it’s okay to walk past the nearby tents and caravans towards the designated area and dump a load where a family will pitch a tent (it stinks even after they pick it up and gets on your groundsheet). Because the dog owners pick up some of the dog mess, they must believe it's okay to do it but it clearly isn't. Masterland Farm can't do anything about stupidity. Now see, you got me going hahaha.
