The Masons Arms: The pub from the road (camping entrance to the left)

General

  • Peaceful camping field with year-round facilities
  • National Trust and English Heritage properties close by
  • Hike the 20 minutes up Ham Hill from the site

Check out this well-connected Somerset pub site… The Masons Arms is in the good-looking hamstone village of Odcombe near Yeovil, surrounded by topping walking trails – the 20-minute hike up Ham Hill is thoroughly recommended just to start strolls off.

The Masons Arms is close to many Somerset attractions including National Trust and English Heritage properties, but is set peacefully well away from the main road. And as it's a pub site, dinner and drinks in the Arms each evening are also thoroughly recommended – no fights needed about who's going to drive home…

Facilities at the Masons Arms include a modern unisex amenities block with two toilets, two showers, three sinks, a washing-up area, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board.

Please note

Single-sex bookings of 4 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Unfortunately due to access issues the site no longer accepts caravans. Motorhomes, campervans and trailer tents are welcome and, of course, tents.

The pub not open on Sunday evenings.

They were very welcoming and the dog in closed area was great for our 4 legged companion. The local information provided on site for suggested walks was useful and helped us explore the local area. The toilet block was clean and shower was hot. Spent the evening in the pub, where the locals were friendly and the food was great.

    Disliked:

The shower had a push tap that was broken so had to hold it on at all times, not a huge problem the itself was warm with good pressure. Just made it difficult to wash with one hand.

  • Liked:

Lovely clean, cosy shepherds hut. Very comfortable bed and in December it was really quiet, could only hear the birds. Perfect to have own toilet and sink. Friendly staff who were good enough to post my handbag to me when I left it in the pub. Very tasty breakfast in a great pub.

    Disliked:

Not really a complaint, just some confused instructions on where to park my car on arrival. It says you can park next to the hut, but I wasn't able to and nearly got blocked in by a massive campervan that arrived later. Also couldn't get wifi signal in the hut, but signal was fine in the pub.
