The pub from the road
Peaceful pub garden complete with thatched smoking shelter
Hardstanding area in a sheltered spot by the fruit and vegetable garden

  • Peaceful camping field with year-round facilities
  • National Trust and English Heritage properties close by
  • Hike the 20 minutes up Ham Hill from the site
Check out this well-connected Somerset pub site… The Masons Arms is in the good-looking hamstone village of Odcombe near Yeovil, surrounded by topping walking trails – the 20-minute hike up Ham Hill is thoroughly recommended just to start strolls off. The Masons Arms is close to many Somerset attractions including National Trust and English Heritage properties, but is set peacefully well away from the main road. And as it's a pub site, dinner and drinks in the Arms each evening are also thoroughly recommended (the bar and restaurant are closed on Monday and reopen at 4pm on Tuesday) - no fights needed about who's going to drive home… Facilities at the Masons Arms include a modern unisex amenities block with two toilets, two showers, three sinks, a washing-up area, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely little campsite in a beautiful location. Only space for a dozen or so pitches but helps keep this site quiet. Great pub at entrance to site and close to Yeovil for supplies as well as plenty of beautiful villages and national trust properties to explore. The showers and water were lovely and hot, and these and the toilets were very clean. I was most impressed by the Cushelle toilet roll - better than the toilet roll I use at home!! Free hairdryer in shower facilities and indoors washing up area also with hot water was far more luxurious than I am used to when camping.

Disliked Nothing at all - will definitely be back. Unbelievably good value for money.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Staff were welcoming. Local area was lovely to walk around. We had a flat pitch which was ideal as large amount of the camping area is on a slope.

Disliked We had to remove someone's black bags filled with rubbish which they had left by the hedge. Took it over to a single silver bin that was overflowing. On our last day I could not even find the bin to put our small amount of rubbish in. The shared toilets ran out of toilet roll late on friday night where campers started to use the hand towels. The toilet paper wasn't replaced until after 7pm Saturday which was asked by campers. Just checking on the bin waste and toilet areas daily and it would have got 10 stars.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Good clean showers and toilets. Very handy for the pub. Grounds well maintained.

Disliked Food for friend was good, really large portion of pork. My meal of Thai burger was poor, with overcooked rice (re-heated?). Beer was fine.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Peaceful and simple with a good pub. Staff were really friendly. There was a lovely cat that we made friends with!

I don't understand other complaints - the staff showed a map of the drinking water tap and the bins are in a clear bin store at the car park.

Disliked The dogs being off the lead.
