  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Great park, lovely open site, fish and chip shop was lovely. Pool was great for kids and clean. Shop on site has most things you may need.

Disliked Toilets and showers were disappointing. Dirty floors, toilets and sinks.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Hollie.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the open space, play park, swimming pool, shop and fish and chips during your stay.

We are sorry to hear the toilets and showers were not as you would have liked. The facilities are cleaned and checked regularly throughout the day, but during busy periods they can come under very heavy use between cleans. Unfortunately, some guests do not always leave them as they find them, which can quickly affect the floors, toilets and sinks.

Thank you for your feedback.

An ok location but the upper pitch area is not well maintained.

Upper area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked Services for Motorhome

Disliked Pitches were very close together
Spent the first half an hour clearing up litter around the pitch.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Inga.

We are pleased to hear you found the motorhome services useful during your stay.

We are sorry to hear there was some litter around your pitch on arrival. This is not the standard we aim for, and if it was significant we would always ask guests to let us know at the time so our team can deal with it straight away. For a small amount of litter, we would also hope guests would simply pop it in the nearest bin rather than leaving it there after taking photos.

The upper touring pitches are laid out to provide serviced facilities for each pitch and are used by many guests who enjoy their location and views, but we appreciate they did not feel spacious enough for you on this occasion.

Thank you for your feedback.

Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked A very well kept site, very clean facilities, a great park for the children and a well kept swimming pool with lifeguards, good areas for dogs too, good size pitches. The staff are always very friendly and helpful, there is a very well stocked shop a pub and a chippy on site. I couldn’t say there is any negative feedback about this site at all. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again.

Liked The views were amazing from the top camp! staff were lovely, swimming pool and bar were all fabulous and clean.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review.

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the views from the top camping field amazing. It is lovely to know the staff were friendly, and that the swimming pool and bar were both clean and enjoyable during your visit.

The top field does have the best views, but as a cliff top camping area it can be breezy at times, so the lower section can be a good option when it is windy.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Lots of space to pick from and gorgeous views
Toilets and showers were clean and cleaned regularly
Lots of water points and bins

Didn’t use the shop, bar or takeaway but was nice to know it was there

Disliked Maybe it was the wind, but there was quite a bit of rubbish around the site.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, Louise.

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed the gorgeous location, sea views and freedom to choose your pitch. It is great to know the toilets and showers were clean and checked regularly, and that you found plenty of water points and bins around the site.

We are sorry to hear there was some rubbish around during your stay. The wind can unfortunately move loose items around very quickly on a cliff top site, but our team do work hard to keep the park clean and tidy.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review.

We are really pleased to hear you loved your stay once again and that you continue to enjoy visiting Crows Nest year after year.

We appreciate your comment regarding the breakfast van opening days. Now we are in high season, the breakfast van is open every day. It is not feasible to do this in quieter periods.

Thank you for recommending us to friends and family, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Liked The site was clean ,had a lovely fee days away, the pub was nice with friendly staff

Disliked The only thing I would say is that the pub needs a disabled ramp into both pub and conservatory, as we struggled with getting out friend who is in a wheelchair over the steps,

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the site clean, with clean toilets and showers. It is great to know you had a lovely few days away and found the pub staff friendly too.

We appreciate your comments regarding wheelchair access into the pub and conservatory. There are door sills in these areas, but all areas are accessible without steps. We will still take your feedback on board when considering future improvements.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
