  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

What customers say

Crows Nest gets rave reviews for sea views, great staff, and top-notch amenities like a shop and fish & chips. Families love the playground and pool. While most had a fantastic stay, some noted busy restroom/shower use and wind on open sites. Amenity hours also received feedback.

Liked The site was clean ,had a lovely fee days away, the pub was nice with friendly staff

Disliked The only thing I would say is that the pub needs a disabled ramp into both pub and conservatory, as we struggled with getting out friend who is in a wheelchair over the steps,

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, Michelle.

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the site clean, with clean toilets and showers. It is great to know you had a lovely few days away and found the pub staff friendly too.

We appreciate your comments regarding wheelchair access into the pub and conservatory. There are door sills in these areas, but all areas are accessible without steps. We will still take your feedback on board when considering future improvements.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Amazing views clean facilities with families and couples enjoying time together in a civilised may.

Disliked We struggled to understand why the bar did not sell food only crisps but we were told we were not allowed to eat a sandwich bought from the shop onsite and had to eat it outside! They sent a young family outside too for the same reason. The manager of this site also is a rude and unfriendly man and sat watching him attempt customer service to the public which left us astonished.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the amazing views and found the facilities clean, with families and couples enjoying the site in a pleasant way.

With regards to the bar, the rule is simply that outside food is not permitted to be eaten in the bar. This applies to all guests, including food bought from the shop, and is why you and the other family were asked not to eat sandwiches inside.

The bar is primarily for drinks, with food available elsewhere on site through the fish and chip shop and other food options at certain times. Signage is shown at every entrance which you must have missed.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Liked facilities close by

Disliked Very busy, too commercialised for us.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Kirsty.

We are pleased to hear you found the facilities well maintained and close by during your stay.

Crows Nest is a popular family holiday park and can be very busy during peak periods, particularly in July. We appreciate that not everyone is looking for a busier park with a wider range of facilities, but a 5 out of 10 score does feel a little harsh when the main concern appears to be that the site was popular and not quite the style of campsite you prefer.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked They haven’t taken the mick with prices when they easily could’ve. For example, the pool is only £3 and under 4s free, and the arcade machines start from 20p! Shop is well stocked and again, reasonably priced. Park and toilets well maintained and all the staff are friendly. We will definitely be back!

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Lucy.

We are really pleased to hear you loved your stay and found Crows Nest well thought out, friendly and good value for money. It is lovely to know the pool, arcade, shop, play park and toilets all worked well for your family.

We are glad you found the prices reasonable too, as we do try to keep our on site facilities affordable for families.

Thank you for recommending us, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Disliked Dog park wasn't secure. Could do with some wire meshing so the dogs dont get under the fence

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found Crows Nest a great site with friendly staff. It is lovely to know the playground worked well for the children too.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the dog park. It is provided as a useful exercise area, although it is not advertised as fully secure, so dogs should always be supervised while using it. We will take your comments about the fencing on board.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
