What customers say
This well-kept spot offers great sea views and a prime coastal location, with a bus stop at the entrance for easy trips to Scarborough and Filey. Guests rave about the friendly staff, spotless amenities with ample showers/restrooms, and the on-site shop and chippy. Families love the playground and pool. While you can pick your own spot, it can be windy and pitches may be uneven. Some visitors noted cleanliness issues during busy periods and occasional noise from other campers.

Liked Weather was nice and the maintenance guy saved us and gave me a jump start as my car battery died. So a big thank you to him.
Lovely Staff and food in the chip shop,
Disliked Showers and proper toilets a good 10 min walk away up a hill. Was left with 6 portable toilets which was awful and 3 biffa bins dumped in the middle of the field.
Swimming pool was freezing, and the floors in the changing rooms were dirty with mud 🤢😷 staff just sat around doing nothing when they could have been cleaning the floors.
Definitely would not say have arcades they was rubbish and did not see anyone in the tiny room.
Dated bar area

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Gemma.
We are pleased to hear the staff were lovely, that you enjoyed the fish and chips, and that our maintenance team were able to help when your car battery died.
With regards to the overflow field, this was not the original stay you had booked. Your booking was for 19th September for 2 nights, but you arrived in August without realising the dates were incorrect. Rather than simply turning you away, we did what we could to accommodate you during one of the busiest periods of the year, which meant using the overflow camping field as the main camping areas were already full.
Had you arrived on the dates actually booked, you would not have been placed in the overflow field and your experience would have been very different. This important context is missing from your review.
The overflow field is more basic than the main park and is mainly used at the busiest times. The main showers, toilets and pot wash facilities are located on the main site, and there is a walk from the overflow field. Portable toilets are provided closer to the overflow area for convenience, and there were far more than 3 bins available.
We are sorry to hear you felt the swimming pool changing area was not as clean as it should have been. The facilities are checked regularly, but during peak times they can deteriorate quickly depending on how guests use them.
The arcade is a small games room, as advertised, rather than a large amusement arcade. Crows Nest is a family camping and caravan park, not a large resort park.
We are sorry the overflow field did not meet your expectations, but we do feel it is unfair to review the stay without mentioning that you arrived on the wrong dates and were accommodated at very short notice during peak season.
Your 2/10 score is very very harsh when your only reasonable complaint is that the pool changing room floor was dirty.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)
Liked Facilities and entertainment were good. Shop has clearly built up a good idea of what you might have forgotten or never knew you might want in your camping life.
Disliked Some windows throughout the day where you can't get hot food (I know many people cook their own meals so probably not a major issue). A café/restaurant would be a great addition to the site.

Wouldn’t return, nice view, cleanliness appalling, expensive.
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked Amazing view. Well stocked shop.
Disliked Facilities absolutely disgusting. Faeces on the floor in the main men’s area one day (not cleaned till next morning) and kids peeing in the middle of the floor the next. The response from staff was “people are animals”-no apology offered. Cleaning once a day is not enough. There are many reviews stating the same. Pool is tiny and very highly chlorinated. Chip shop only open after 4:30pm and v poor quality (our friends tried it).

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Stephanie.
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the amazing view and found the shop well stocked.
We do, however, need to clarify a few points. The facilities are not cleaned once a day. They are cleaned and checked regularly throughout the day, especially during busy school holiday periods. Unfortunately, when toilets are deliberately misused, they can be left in an unacceptable condition very quickly after being cleaned.
The examples you mention, including faeces on the floor and children urinating on the floor, are not normal use of toilet facilities and are not caused by a lack of cleaning. They are caused by a minority of guests showing a complete lack of respect for other people and for the staff who have to clean up after them - or animals in short.
We appreciate nobody wants to see facilities left like that, but it is unfair to present this purely as a site cleanliness issue when the problem is guest behaviour between cleans.
With regards to the swimming pool, it is advertised as a smaller family pool with slides, not a large leisure complex. The water is checked regularly throughout the day and signage asks guests to shower before entering the pool to remove sun cream and body products, which helps maintain the water quality during busy periods.
As for the fish and chip shop, Crows Nest Fisheries is a national finalist in fish and chip shop awards, and we are very proud of the quality and value they offer on site. Many guests praise the food very highly. We appreciate taste is subjective, but your comment is based on what your friends tried rather than something you tasted yourself, so it feels unfair to include this as a criticism of your own stay.
Thank you for your feedback.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Peter.
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the swimming pool, facilities, cleanliness and staff during your stay.
We are sorry to hear some other guests affected your experience. Crows Nest is a busy family park during peak season, and while most guests are respectful, there can unfortunately be occasions where others do not behave as considerately as they should.
Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Great location great amenities staff lovely and perfect getaway
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)
Liked The facilities were great, toilets, showers and swimming pool. Great location and the shop was very reasonable priced and well stocked. Usually these places can be expensive. Great views of Scarborough and the ocean.
Disliked We did late booking so we're in overflow so had portaloo toilets which are generally disgusting. The smell the floor the mess is not nice. But when you wake up in night what you gonna do! The walk to the next toilets is about 5 mins

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, Kerry.
We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the facilities, toilets, showers and swimming pool all good.
It is great to know the location worked well for you, with views over Scarborough and the ocean, and that you found the shop well stocked and reasonably priced.
As you mention, this was a late booking, so the overflow field was used as the main camping areas were already full. The portable toilets are provided for convenience in that area, with the main toilet and shower facilities only a short walk away.
We appreciate portable toilets are not ideal for everyone, but they do provide an extra option for overnight use when staying in the overflow field during busy periods.
Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again.
Great staff and some good facilities.
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked Staff in all areas were polite and helpful, We used the bar (one drink) fish and chip shop, reception.
The views were great from the non electric camping area.
The brown and grey waste cleaning area were easy to access and use.
Water stations were quite accessible and frequent.
Disliked To me the booking was expensive we only needed a patch of grass and a toilet/shower with our campervan and paid £80 for two nights. I don’t think this is a Crows Nest thing I think all campsites need to look at what they are charging. A tiered band system would work for me giving access to parks, swimming pools, bar areas etc as needed keeping prices reasonable. I don’t need to pay for facilities I’m not using like a kids pool for example just because the park has it.
This is a bit of a free for all system on the non electric side. Don’t book if you don’t want a school playground around your pitch, alternatively if you are happy to let kids be kids it’s the place for you.
Toilets/showers are good facilities but unfortunately the people using them were disgusting over our weekend, excrement on the floor and seats both days we were there.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are pleased to hear you found the staff polite and helpful, enjoyed the views from the non electric camping area, and found the water points and waste facilities accessible and easy to use.
With regards to the price, the pool is not included in the camping price, so guests do not pay for the pool unless they choose to use it. The camping price covers the pitch and access to the site facilities advertised. If guests feel the price is not suitable for what they need, then of course the choice is not to book and find a suitable campsite for their requirements and budget.
It is also worth noting that bookings made through third party websites include commission, which has to be factored into pricing. As those platforms take a commission, it slowly forces campsites to increase prices just to receive the same amount.
The non electric camping field is a flexible, non designated camping area, which many families enjoy because they can choose where to pitch. We appreciate that this can feel busier during school holidays, but Crows Nest is a family holiday park and children will naturally be playing around the site.
We are sorry to hear the toilet and shower facilities were not left in a good condition by other guests during your stay. Our team clean and check them regularly, but unfortunately they can deteriorate very quickly when people do not use them respectfully.
Thank you for your feedback.

Liked . Nice location.tidy site. Toilets where kept spotless to say the site was full of families in tents, Was really surprised.
Liked the area to take the dog first thing in morning and last thing at night.

We are really pleased to hear you loved your first stay at Crows Nest and will definitely be back.
It is great to know you found the site tidy and the toilet block spotless, even during a busy school holiday period with lots of families on site. The team work hard to keep the facilities in good order, so your comments are really appreciated.
We are glad you enjoyed the dog walking area, the cliff edge walks towards Filey and Cayton Bay, the well stocked shop and the fish and chip shop too.
