  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Beautiful Caravan and camping park with unreal views. Toilets and showers were alway clean and tidy and the kids loved the park. Best fish and chips and breakfast bar!!

Disliked Not really any dislikes, other than how small the club and shops is, maybe could be more option. We also had no WiFi in the far field but wasn’t really a issue and spent more time
Talking.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review.

We are really pleased to hear you had such a fantastic stay and enjoyed the unreal views across the coast.

It is lovely to know the toilets and showers were always clean and tidy, the children enjoyed the park, and that the fish and chips and breakfast bar were such highlights.

We appreciate your comments regarding the size of the club and shop. We are not looking to become a Haven style park, and larger facilities can take away from the atmosphere that makes Crows Nest what it is. The bar is also a lot quieter these days than it was in bygone years, so we do not feel extending it would be the right direction for the park.

WiFi is available around the main facilities, although coverage will not reach the far camping field, however there is 5G mobile network coverage across the area. We are glad this did not affect your stay and that it meant more time talking instead.

Thank you for recommending us, and we look forward to welcoming you back again.

5min from filey and has a local garage at the end of the road and a pub across the way for family meals

Disliked The pool is abit small but still good could do with some showers in the changing area.
The arcade is ok but abit dated but does the job

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Carol.

We are really pleased to hear your first visit to Crows Nest was such a success and that you couldn’t fault your stay.

It is lovely to know you found plenty to do for both adults and children, and that the shop, fish and chip shop, swimming pool, play area, laundrette, pot wash area, clubhouse and clean showers all added to your holiday.

We are glad you found the food freshly cooked, tasty and reasonably priced too.

We appreciate your comments regarding the pool size and changing area, and also the arcade. We will take this feedback on board when considering future improvements.

Thank you for recommending us so highly, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Liked Kids play area handy dog field fish shop tractor guy friendly . Good music from the bands playing at the club house

Disliked Shame that you get families that think they can take up space with a lot of cars in their group. Language disgusting even with kids around . Noisy at crack of dawn and after time no respect for other people.

Swimming pool

someone vomiting the water became cloudy the life guards did nothing apart from laugh .From working on pool and being an health inspector you are suppose to call time on pool and clear everyone out to deal with the chemicals and pool .

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Michelle.

We are pleased to hear you found the children’s play area, dog field, fish shop and live music enjoyable, and that you found our grounds team friendly.

We are sorry to hear your stay was affected by the behaviour of other guests. People come from all walks of life and can have different standards in how they act and speak around their own children, but we do ask guests be considerate of others while staying on the park.

With regards to the swimming pool, we do not accept that the lifeguards simply laughed and did nothing. The pool is monitored closely, and the safety and cleanliness of the water is always taken seriously.

Thank you for your feedback.

Liked I liked the location, enjoyed walking to Filey and Scarborough.
Fish and chips were very nice.

Disliked I thought the lounge bar would be an escape from the kids, but it's not.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Andrew.

We are pleased to hear you liked the location and enjoyed walking to Filey and Scarborough. It is also good to know you enjoyed the fish and chips.

Crows Nest is a family holiday park, so the lounge bar is not adults only. Families are welcome across the park facilities, including the bar, and we do not advertise it as an adults only space.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Lower area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked The views out to sea and the cliffe side walk to Filey. Good location if you have a car.

Disliked The amount of off lead dogs. The horrible maggot smell coming from the bins, wafted over the whole site. They tried to say it was farmers fields but it was definitely the bins. We left a day early

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Karen.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the sea views and the cliff side walk to Filey.

With regards to the smell you mention, Crows Nest is set in the countryside and surrounded by working farmland. When farmers muck spread their fields, there can unfortunately be an unpleasant smell across the area for a short period, but this is outside our control and is part of being in a rural location.

The bins around the park are changed daily, and every bin on site is emptied 3 times per week, or more often if needed during busy periods. We do not accept that the whole site was affected by a smell from our bins in the way described. It is frankly absolute nonsense.

Dogs must be kept on leads around the park, and we do ask guests to follow this rule. If guests see dogs off lead, we ask that they report it to the team at the time so it can be dealt with.

We are sorry the site was not for you, but a 4 out of 10 score for countryside smells and other guests not following dog lead rules does feel very harsh.

Definitely recommend!

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
