  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

What customers say

This coastal campground has stunning views and great amenities like a pool, playground, and shop. Pitches are spacious, and staff are friendly. While most praise cleanliness, some reviews note dated shower blocks and inconsistent cleaning during busy times. Perfect for exploring nearby towns and coastal walks.

Liked Was our first time camping and honestly we couldn’t have chose a better site!
Location was beautiful and had lovely views.
Excellent facilities that seemed to be cleaned multiple times a day.
We had 2 young children who loved the park. We were initially worried as it’s pretty close to the cliff but pitched ourself further way to lessen the worry. 5 minute drive to Cayton Bay beach which was lovely.
Shop on site was very reasonably priced (which we didn’t expect)
Will be coming back next year!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked We don't normally use large sites for the two of us, but our daughter found this one and thought it would be ideal for our camping trip of two nights with her and the grandchildren. It certainly was. Although it was fairly busy on Saturday we managed to find a flat pitch together. It was a change not to have a fixed size pitch and it worked well. I imagine it can get a bit crowded on busy weekends though. (Tip, arrive Sunday!) We loved the pool and although it was extra it was well worth the unlimited time in there. Our two loved the slides and it was really warm when we went in. They also made good use of the playground which had plenty of variety for younger & older children. Fish & chips were good, and the children's entertainment on Sunday night. Grandad made use of the bar for a decent pint and stopped for a game of pool with grandson :-).
We caught the bus into Scarborough, with the stop at the bottom of the site it was great to get as far as the North Beach & Peasholme Park in one journey.

Toilets were cleaned daily and were spotless at 7.30 when the ladies finished. They must have had an early start - thank you! It might be an idea to have a separate bin for nappies to save people filling the sanitary bins?
There was little a bit of rubbish about, but there were lots of Biffa bins about for people to use.

Would use the site again, with or without grandchildren.

Disliked Dogs, or rather people with dogs who seemed unable to use the exercise field provided! Nothing the site owners can do, just one of our bugbears!

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, Janice.

We are really pleased to hear Crows Nest worked so well for your family trip and that you enjoyed the location, facilities and views. It is great to know you found a suitable pitch, even during a busy weekend, and that the pool, slides, play park, fish and chips, children’s entertainment and bar all added to your stay.

We are especially glad the bus stop at the bottom of the site made it easy to visit Scarborough without needing to drive.

Thank you for your kind comments about the cleaning team too. They do work hard from early in the morning to keep the facilities clean and well maintained.

We appreciate your comments regarding sanitary bins, litter and dog owners not always using the dog exercise field or cleaning up properly. There are plenty of bins around the park, but unfortunately a small number of guests do not always use them as they should.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked Everything was close by easy access in and out, kids loved having the pool so close to our tent, the entertainment in the bar was great.

Disliked The walk down to the beach close to the site not very accessible, slight dangerous to traverse especially with kids,

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Ryan.

We are really pleased to hear you had such a great stay and found everything close by and easy to access. It is lovely to know the children enjoyed having the pool nearby and that the bar entertainment added to your visit.

We are glad you enjoyed the views and found the campsite so well suited to your stay.

With regards to the beach, Crows Nest is situated on an eroding cliff top and we would not recommend guests, especially those with children, trying to access the beach directly at the bottom of the cliffs. The coastal location gives fantastic views, but safe beach access is best made via Cayton Bay nearby.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Liked Club house/clean toilet area
And bus stop just outside to take you in to Skegness

Disliked Camping on the hill, you have to find a straight pitch

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, Bev.

We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the clubhouse and found the toilet area clean during your stay.

It is great to know the bus stop just outside the park was useful too, making it easy to get out and about without needing to drive.

With regards to the overflow camping field, this area is not made up of designated pitches, so guests choose where to pitch within the available space. Some areas are naturally more sloped than others, but there are flatter spots available.

Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Crows Nest again soon.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, Andrew.

We are pleased to hear you had a great 2 day break and enjoyed the cleanliness, chip shop, location and overall atmosphere of the site.

With regards to the overflow field, pitches are not designated in that area, so guests choose where to pitch within the available space. Some areas of the field are naturally more sloped than others, so we appreciate this may not have suited you on this occasion.

Liked Great location and perfect for the kids, lots for them to do and it felt safe for them to run around and play

Disliked The evening entertainment consistent of bands during our stay, and with the site being so child friendly it would have been great if the evening entertainment was geared more towards the kids.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Rebecca.

We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and found Crows Nest such a great location for the children. It is lovely to know they had plenty to do and that you felt the site was safe for them to enjoy.

We appreciate your comments regarding the evening entertainment. During high season we have specific children’s entertainment 3 times per week. At weekends, the entertainment is aimed more generally at everyone, including families and adults.

Liked LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! The pitches are brilliant with nice even ground, the views are absolutely stunning. Facilities on size are perfect, with the park, the swimming and the well stocked shop. The walks were fabulous and we even saw the seals. Will definitely be back.

Disliked Too much chlorine in the pool. Eyes were on fire.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review, Steph.

We are really pleased to hear you loved your stay and enjoyed the stunning views, level pitches and facilities. It is lovely to know the park, swimming pool, well stocked shop and local walks all added to your visit, and that seeing the seals was such a highlight.

We are sorry to hear your eyes were affected in the pool. We do ask guests to shower before entering the pool, although unfortunately this is not always followed, which can affect the water during busy periods when sun cream etc enters the pool. The pool levels are checked regularly throughout the day to make sure they remain within the correct range.

Thank you for recommending us, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Crows Nest again soon.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
