  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

What customers say

Guests rave about gorgeous sea views, roomy sites, and spotless facilities. The fish and chip shop and bar are big hits! Very family-friendly with lots for kids. Some noted wind on higher spots, occasional washroom tidiness issues at peak times, and noise from inconsiderate campers. Limited hours for some amenities off-season were mentioned.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Great site, toilet facilities are really good, safe for the kids and a welcoming atmosphere, bar is cheap, chippy was good, stayed open late for the England games.

Just had a lovely time

Disliked Wind exposure was quite high, some of the air tents on site were being blown away or collapsing.

Pool was a bit meh, and don’t think it was worth an extra charge.

Upper area FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (super)

Liked Return bookers. We have used this site over the years first in our tent and now in our caravan.
Shop on site which is well stocked. Handy if needing a few bits
On site fish and chip shop is fab too!
About an hours walk (with small children) to the beach or 5 mins in the car.
Lovely pool area with slides.
Tourer pitches are spacious and well maintained.

Disliked I've never seen the toilets in such a disgusting state. Toilet roll all over the floor, floors wet through and just very unclean and put me off using. What looked like smearing in one of the cubicles. This was the case in both the ladies and family toilets. Normally the facilities are very clean and tidy. The site was very busy over the weekend so it was likely due to other disrespectful guests. Such a shame.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (overflow)

Liked The facilities were good.

Disliked We were on the grass at the front or reception. We put our tent up and went for some tea and when we got back, whoever was in the tent next to us was smoking a spliff (which stunk! And there was lots of children around including their own!) then at 3am in the morning their child woke up screaming and crying; then at 4:20 and again at 5:40. We were meant to stay 2 nights but ended up only staying 1.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The views were amazing, cleanliness of the ladies facilities was great. Really well stocked shop with reasonable prices. Loved the fish and chips, and nice to have a pub on site as an option. The children's play facility was fab arcade and pool also a hit with children. Friendly customers and staff.

Can't fault much really we had a lovely (if a bit treacherous at times) walk to Cayton from the site which is a mile each way so doable if you aren't carrying too much.

Disliked Mens facilities were a little less clean a couple of times and could have done with checking a little more often but for a busy site overall it was still pretty good.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
