  • Small, eco-friendly family-run site in the Dorset National Landscape
  • Access to the South West Coast Path; Lyme Regis five minutes’ drive
  • Dog-friendly site and barbecues allowed; Charmouth 35 minutes’ walk
Set back from the Jurassic Coast above Lyme Regis, family-run Berries Farm Camping has spacious and scenic grass pitches on five acres of farmland. Well away from the buzz of the coastal towns in the Dorset National Landscape, the site is unpowered and some of the pitches slope slightly, but the stunning views more than compensate. Amenities include flushing toilets and showers with hot water; otherwise you’re pretty much on your own. Barbecues raised off the grass are permitted, but campfires are not (for the safety of the livestock grazing the field outside of camping months). Pets are welcome on site, but please keep a close eye on them as there are sheep in neighbouring fields. There are plenty of local footpaths for keeping them exercised nearby, and you can access the South West Coast Path directly from the farm. Up your green credentials and walk down to Charmouth in just over half an hour, or Lyme Regis in 40 minutes. You can also take the park-and-ride bus to Lyme; it stops a few minutes’ walk south of the farm. Pretty Bridport and West Bay are both accessible by bus in around 15 minutes.

What customers say

This campsite boasts stunning countryside views and a convenient location close to Lyme Regis, with easy access to the coastal path and a park and ride. Visitors frequently praise the clean and well-maintained toilet and shower facilities, often describing them as "posh" or "superb" and noting consistently hot water for showers. Pitches are generally described as spacious and level, with many appreciating the "back-to-basics" simplicity and peaceful atmosphere. While road noise is occasionally mentioned, especially on pitches closer to the main road, it's often outweighed by the positive aspects. The owners are consistently highlighted as friendly, helpful, and communicative. Future improvements mentioned by the manager include the potential introduction of shaded areas and offering freezer access for ice blocks. Some reviews noted the toilet cubicles could be small and there were occasional comments about high water pressure at the washing-up sinks, or a lack of hot water for washing up. The presence of sheep on the farm has also been mentioned with some guests noting the smell.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Views, absolutely fantastic, the sunsets were magnificent.
Large pitches, ease of pitching, close to bus stop and Lyme Regis park & Ride.
The toilet block and showers were kept very clean and tidy.
The owners Daisy and Harry came and checked everything was in order every day. I would highly recommend this pop up site.

Disliked The road does run right by the site, but to be honest did not bother us.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Views and setting.
Located near to Lyme park and ride for a bus if preferred to walking the hill.
Spacious.

Disliked Road noise but not terrible.
Would benefit from more toilets, there is just one toilet for all males on site and they are small space with little privacy. Not adequate for busy times.

Local attractions

Stay at Berries Farm and you’ll be well placed to explore the many attractions of the Jurassic Coast; have a forage for fossils on the beach at Lyme Regis (five minutes’ drive/40 minutes’ walk), take the kids to feed mullet at the bijou Marine Museum or play a round of golf on the course overlooking the sea. Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre (five minutes’ drive/35 minutes’ walk) displays fossils and has interactive exhibits explaining the geology of the UNESCO-listed coastline. Chesil Beach (20 minutes’ drive) is an iconic spot for a long shoreline hike along the shingle between West Bay and Portland. It’s also popular for sea fishing or watching the sun slip down over the waves on clear days. If you’re of a foodie bent, search out traditional thatched pubs serving home-made food and local seafood; the site is also less than 10 minutes by car to cookery courses and gardening days at River Cottage HQ. Bridport (15 minutes’ drive) is a west-country culinary hot spot too, with award-winning restaurants and farmers’ markets on Wednesday and Saturday.
