Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park: Around the park

General

  • Quiet working farm park 20 minutes' drive from moors and beaches
  • Walking, cycling and birdwatching at Stover Country Park
  • Outdoor heated pool and two fishing lakes

Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park is a quiet family-friendly park set on a working farm around 10 minutes' drive from the historic market town of Newton Abbot. It's within walking distance of the Templer Way heritage trail and a huge country park, as well as a flat and family-friendly cycling trail through woodlands and around lakes to Dartmoor National Park.

The outdoor pool is always warm as it's heated by the site's biomass heating system, and there are two fishing lakes within walking distance of all pitches. The site also has a small play area to keep the kids entertained.

The dishwashing and laundry facilities are housed within the award-winning heated toilet and shower block.

Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park is easily accessible from the main roads that run either side of Newton Abbot, making the park well placed for shopping trips and evenings out to Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth.

So clean toilets and showers were all heated with music in there. Park was very clean and well kept. Little shop. Fresh eggs every morning. Close to Torquay which has a really lovely harbour was a good day out.

    Disliked:

Very quiet for us as we’re a young family wasn’t a problem but i didn’t feel the children could play as much as other parks around the pitch’s although they did have a play park which was very clean. Had to be back before 12 o’clock as gate was locked. We went into the next town to meet friends and felt as though we were on a time limit. Had to pay for wifi but it didn’t work.

From the manager...

Thanks for your comments pleased you enjoyed our park the midnight cut off is not usually a problem for our guests and many like the fact it is secure.
If you had contacted the provider they would of sorted it out as they are very good with there customer service.
Best regards Team Twelve Oaks.

Shop not open at regular times and swimming pool not open

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments the pool opens at Whitsun and we close it end of September or when people stop using it to be fair we are in the shop every morning till at least noon then we have things to do but we are always around if you need an ice cream or essentials like milk bread or cider then from 4 to 5 the shop is open when we are not busy it does seem pointless.
Kind regards,
Clare and Team.

Arrival and check in straightforward. Reception in shop manned by Chris (?) who was lovely, helpful and offered freshly baked croissants for the next morning!
Pitch was large ( hard standing electric) and level.
Site was interesting in that you don’t see it all at once, different levels and areas.
Shower and toilet facilities award winning with music! Dishwashing and laundry facilities immaculate and all indoor.
    Evening on-site, street-food-type huts weekends.
Pool undergoing refurb presumably in time for summer.
    Quiet, pleasant site .

    Disliked:

Nothing much although fine, dark gravel of pitch gets everywhere!

From the manager...

Thanks for your comments yes pool is being made larger with new patio seating area but we never usually open the pool befre whitsun any way.
The hard standings have been a pain with all this dry weather we are having can only apologise.
Best regards,
Clare.

Local attractions

Both the site's fishing lakes are well stocked with carp – just ask for Jim and he'll tell you all their names...

Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park also lies halfway along the Templer Way Heritage Trail, a walking route that uses a mixture of rights of way, permissive routes and minor roads to link the seaside town of Teignmouth to Haytor on Dartmoor. The Stover Canal, which was once used to transport granite from the moors to the harbour, is also a short stroll from the park.

The woodland, grassland, heathland, marsh and lake areas of the 114-acre Stover Country Park, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is half an hour's walk away. The park has a visitor centre, an aerial walkway, a bird hide and picnic areas.

Also running through the country park is the Stover Trail – a traffic-free cycling route that connects Newton Abbot to Bovey Tracey, extending towards Lustleigh and Moretonhampstead in Dartmoor National Park.
