  • Family park set over 50 acres on a hilltop overlooking Widemouth Bay
  • A short drive from the surf schools and beach at Bude
  • Free heated pool, free wifi, clubhouse, kids' club and bar
Free! The price of zilch is what you’ll pay to keep the kids happy at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park a few miles from Bude, which is bound to result in wide-mouthed grins for all concerned... This large and lively family park has kids’ clubs run by the cunning Foxy, free evening entertainment by the Stripey Coats, crazy golf to go loopy at and an indoor heated pool, which are also…free. As is the wifi in the clubhouse. Huzzah. Widemouth Bay Caravan Park’s location is also pretty smilesome: on a hilltop overlooking the Cornish countryside and the fab Widemouth Bay with its three miles of sand. There are over 50 acres to lose yourself in around the park and pretend you never have to go home, with the takeaway, well-stocked shop and tasty meals at the bar keeping you sorted for nosh and a launderette looking after the essentials. Looking for yet more things to do on site? Challenge the kids on the amusements or show them how to hustle on the pool table – letting them beat you should result in even more wide smiles…

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely views from the campsite, nice warm pool and great bar/food

Disliked: The pheasant field was extremely muddy and our pitch was waterlogged all week, the gravel didn’t go all the way to the road so we was constantly getting the car stuck and struggled to get the caravan over the grass. There was also no lights at all ( from one on the toilet block) we felt very unsafe walking to and from the toilet block which was quite a distance away . There could be a water tap a bit closer as that was also in the next field. It would be ideal if there was showers at the pool as we had to walk all the way back to the top field to have a shower.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Good facilities, friendly and helpful staff, great location, nice entertainment

Disliked: Clay soil makes camping challenging in wet weather as water does not drain quickly...it gets very muddy indeed

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Had an amazing time, staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean. Excellent place for children lots to do. Would definitely be going back, one of my favourite places.

Disliked: The only thing I would say as a negative is we had a hard standing pitch, however we had to walk/drive over the grass to get onto it and was very muddy. Could do with just extending the gravel slightly so you do not have to go over the grass at all.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Stayed here September and had to some back ....Everything was perfect, stayed here on the Halloween last week of the season and entertainment was brilliant, food brilliant. Thankyou for brilliant stay.

Disliked: So the only thing that made me a little sad was every time I went shop the shop keeper was a bit miserable, my little boy ran in and as we left he slammed the door. Just puts a little damper on the day but as a happy family we just brushed it off.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the closeness to the beach and the cleanliness of our park. However, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you experienced with the hot water, we do hope this was mentioned to the team at the park so they were able to try and rectify this. Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Quiet

Disliked: Allocated pitch, already a group on it. Allocated another pitch, a caravan already on it. By this point reception was closed & we chose an empty pitch and hoped for the best.
Ended up on a very sloping pitch.

Local attractions

Widemouth Bay is where you’ll find the surf: if you’re new to launching yourself happily into the waves there are surf and bodyboarding schools dotted all around here and Bude, and Newquay is within 50 minutes' drive. Bude less than 10 minutes by car has a couple of excellent beaches: Summerleaze, to have a dip in the sea pool at the bottom of the cliffs and to bag a beach hut for hire so you can pretend for one fleeting afternoon that it’s your very own, and Crooklets, which you can reach by a short stroll from Summerleaze Down. Both beaches, and the sea pool at Summerleaze, are lifeguarded. The staff at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park recommends a car to see the best of Cornwall, but you won’t have very far to drive to reach most of the main hotspots: the Eden Project is about 50 minutes away, and Tintagel, legendary home of King Arthur and Merlin, is just along the coast.
