Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Staff friendly and accommodating. Lovely large Oak trees to stay in the shade. Despite being busy it was peaceful.

Disliked When filling the water roller you had to pick it up to bring to the tap as the water went everywhere, could do with a short hose to put into the roller while filling. Very low water pressure in the showers and would like the shower to be separate from the toilet rather than a wet room. Could do with some more hooks and a shelf to put your clothes on. Lots of spiders in the showers and toilets.

From the manager: Thank you very much for leaving us a10/10, Cheryl. There are some beautiful trees here and mid week and during quieter times, it is a lovely peaceful place.

I would like to address your concerns below.

Regarding the water roller, most customers bring their own hose, if we were to put hoses out, they would get taken.

No one has ever complained about the water pressure in the showers before and we are sorry that you didn't like the wet room arrangement. Our customers have always mentioned this in their reviews as being a good thing, obviously we cannot rip the whole lot out. These were there when the park was bought in 2020 and are relatively new.

There are hooks behind every door. We cannot drill hooks into the walls as this would compromise the walls being water tight.

Regarding the spiders, these are daddy long legs, this problem comes about because the doors get left open overnight even with the signs on the doors asking for them to be closed. The lights stay on, in come the moths and daddy long legs.

It was nice to have you stay and we can't be that bad as you booked an extra night. We would love to see you again one day. Happy Travels. The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked Clean. Helpful staff. Close to nature. Feels safe and a short drive from a variety of places.

Disliked Limited local places to walk to.

From the manager: Thank you very much for review David. We do our best to be helpful and keep everything nice for you all.

We are a good site if you want a day out with a car, we are near to Canterbury, Whitstable, the Isle of Sheppey, Herne Bay, Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Lakeside and Bluewater for shopping and London is only an hour or so away.

There is a lot of countryside to explore around the park, but we do ask our customers to do their research before booking, there are the local shop and pub reachable by foot but a vehicle is needed for most other places. We do have a list of taxi numbers available on request. We hope that this did not put you off too much.

We would love to see you again soon. The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked This site has become our go too place
Clean tidy and Ruth the manger is just awesome ... Kind friendly and knows how to run the place really well
Thank you Ruth

Disliked The internet signal is poor ...
The only reason I say this is, we would pitch up here more often as my wife works remotely... But can't at this site due to lack of 5g or a good site internet

From the manager: Chris, thank you so much....head now not fitting out of the door, 😂

Regarding the wifi, we have made improvements but not really sure what more we can do, this is why we don't charge for it. I will try to put you nearer to the building next time, we do have a few pitches where the wifi is much better, I do apologise, I didn't realise Sally was working while you are here.

See you soon! The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked A pleasant, well maintained site, with a nice woodland walk.

Disliked Slightly disappointed the kids weren’t allowed to go to the loo by themselves.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you John. We are glad that you had some likes but sorry there was a dislike.

This is the reason why we recommend that the children do not go to the toilets on their own. Last bank holiday, we had a group of children who totally trashed the toilets, unravelled all the loo rolls and put them on the floor, and blocked the sinks up. We have had instances of children trying to set fire to the toilet rolls in the holders, and we have had groups of children blocking the sinks and flooding the floors.

We do not for one minute think that your children would do anything like this but it has happened. This is only a recommendation and not a hard and fast rule. We also live in a dangerous world and we want all our children to be safe. I see that your children are not really little, and so I'm sure that they would have been fine. If our customers have concerns with issues like this, please come and talk to us.

We hope that this does not put you off from returning again.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The warm welcome, facilities and surroundings. Really enjoyed the dog walking in a safe area.

However, we had problems with our van electrics. The staff could not have been more helpful. Offering fridge storage, try different leads and did everything in their power to enable us to stay.

Unfortunately we couldn’t take the risk due to not having communication should our phone batteries failed. Even then we were offered charging facilities in the wardens caravan.

On arriving home, we received an email from the owner, (Ruth) apologising for us not being able to stay, even though it wasn’t the fault of the site.

We cannot praise them enough!!!!

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: Aww Charlie, thank you so much for this outstandingly kind review.

We were very disappointed that you had to go after only being here for a few hours and would be more than happy for you to come another time to use your booking, please call us when you are ready.

Just to point out for everyone for future reference, I (Ruth) am not the owner, but I am the park manager. We have Kirstie who is warden and Darren her partner, and our Lynsey who helps out in the Oak View office when we are busy. That's the Oak View Team. We look forward to seeing you soon and thank you again for the amazing review!

Disliked One grumpy old sod swearing at my kids for playing hide and seak (dont like kids dont go camping simple)

From the manager: Thank you for your review Craig. We are glad you found everything clean, that has been a challenge this weekend so it's nice when our customers mention that.

We are however a bit disappointed that you have marked us down on something that isn't really in our control. Every time a customer does this, our review score goes down and it takes an awful lot of 10/10 reviews to get it back up again. We can't control the weather, aeroplanes flying over or grumpy people. Having said that, if our customers are experiencing abuse from other customers, please come and find one of us straight away. We don't like that.

We do understand that you are angry and agree some customers should go to an adults only site. I do myself spend hours going through every booking trying to put our customers on the correct pitch for their needs and separating the children from the adults is one of the first things I take into consideration. Obviously children are not going to stay on their pitch and unfortunately, there are always going to be grumpy people in this world, especially when the weather is this hot.

We hope that this doesn't put you off from coming back, we would love to see you again. The Oak View Team 😊

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
