Nice, quiet spot with friendly staff and big stands. Great, clean ablutions (even a dog wash!). Lovely walks and good location. WiFi's a bit dodgy sometimes, but most folks love it and want to come back.

From the manager: Thank you very much for a lovely review, Hazel.

Your comments are very kind but we see that you marked us down on our location and facilities and activities which is a shame. May we say to all our customers again, please do your research as to where we are and what we have onsite before you book.

Happy travels Hazel.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pitches were well looked after. Our pitch was a good size for our largish tent and car. The site was on the whole quiet though its proximity to the M20 and A249 could sometimes be intrusive. For us the availability of good walking routes on the campsite’s doorstep was a bonus.

The village of Detling is close by and can be reached by a pleasant 15/20 minute walk. The Cock Horse pub is agreeable and the local community store is well-provisioned.

The campsite staff were very welcoming and helpful. The shower block was well kept. When we stayed the site was fairly quiet so toilet/shower access was never an issue. I guess it might be if the site were very busy. But then which site isn’t challenged when busy?

Overall we had a lovely stay at the campsite; and shall certainly stay again.

From the manager: Thank you very much indeed for your lovely detailed review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and we really would love to see you again.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, very friendly staff

Disliked Men’s washrooms were in a state when I went to use them at 7pm …blocked showers with toilet roll, mud over shower floors and unclean toilets, I had to spend 10 mins cleaning before I could use the cubicle. There was a lot young kids running in and out, banging on the doors and causing mess.
Obviously hard to keep on top of this but maybe more frequent inspections

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review Giles. I will go straight into addressing your concerns.

I was shocked as you when I came in at 8am on that morning to see the mess myself, the ladies was the same. I spent 1 1/2 hours cleaning and unblocking the sinks straight away before doing anything else. The toilets had been checked late the evening before and were ok. We identified the 3 pitches of tents with the children responsible and be rest assured, they will not be coming back again. They even had to be told not to jump up and down on the bins.

We don't tolerate this kind of behaviour and simply block any future bookings. We would like to apologise to all our customers who came upon this that morning. Unfortunately, there are many in this world who have no concern for other people.

We do hope that you will come back again and wish you all the best. The Oak View Team.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Great site, clean facilities, plenty of waste and water points. Lovely to see so many families using the same area to play.

Disliked We asked the kids to move their goal post to the middle of the field as our van was hit several times by the ball. Wonder if softer plastic balls could be encouraged, rather than harder leather ones as we still had the occasional whack.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for leaving us a lovely 10 review. 😊

We are glad that most things were ok but are very sorry to hear about the football. Again, we think that was the family over 3 pitches mentioned in the last review and I will repeat, if we have customers that are a general nuisance to all on site and make things unpleasant for everyone else, they do not come back.

We would also like to ask our customers to either come and find myself or the warden if they are experiencing this kind of problem and we would speak to them.

We would love to see you again sometime and hope that this hasn't put you off from staying again. The Oak View Team

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lots of room on our pitch and we asked for some sun 🌞 which we mainly got lol
As ever Ruth and her team .. outstanding 😁 ♥️ friendly and caring

Disliked A little noisy as detling show ground, which is next door had a car meet on
Certainly not the oak views fault .. but you may want to check what's on that weekend at the showground 👍 an improvement in internet would be a great addition for people like ourselves that need to work weekends .. just a suggestion 🤗

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello you 😂

Thanks Chris, as always a a lovely review which we always really appreciate. I did my best with the sun, glad you noticed.

As for the noise from the show ground..... ugh. We dread that one every year. We do always recommend that our customers do check what is going on at the show ground before booking.

Regarding the wifi, we are unfortunately limited on options within this area, but we have upgraded to the highest possible service available to us. Again, the show ground can have a lot to do with this, when they are busy it does really affect our wifi outside. Anyone wants to complain to the show ground, form an orderly queue. 😂

From the manager: Thank you very much for your review Vishaal. It was lovely to see you again!

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us this past weekend. We love it when we get our groups that come back every year, it's good to see familiar faces.

A little heads up, we are not the owners so I'd like to let all our customers know who we are here.

I'm Ruth, I'm Park Manager then we have Kirsty who is our lovely warden and her partner Darren. When we are busy, we also have Lynsey who kindly jumps in to help. We can't wait to meet you all! The Oak View Team. 😊

Liked It was peaceful and a beautiful forest walk
Had great facilities for washing
Water stations throughout the grounds

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: Wow! Thank you so much for that amazing review! 😊 Thank you for including the photos too, we don't get to go down into the woods when we are busy so it's nice to see the photo of all the bluebells.

We are so pleased you thought Kirsty our warden was helpful, this is her first high season so it's lovely to know. Thank you. We would love to see you again. The Oak View Team.

The site is just off the A249, within 2 miles of the M20 (Junction 7) and 5 miles off the M2 (Junction 5). The best postcode to follow using a satnav is ME14 3HB as using the postcode takes you on a longer route. Heading from the M20 Junction 7, drive along the A249 to the top of Detling Hill. As you approach the top you will pass a layby and a sign for Bredhurst. Turn left along the road to Bredhurst; this is Scragged Oak Road. The park is 500 yards along the road on the left marked with a large green sign. Please do not turn up Pilgrims Way.

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north. Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral. Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John. And of course, just next door is the Kent Showground, which hosts all sorts of events throughout the year (the most famed being the Kent County Show, which usually runs for three days in July).
