Very friendly people working at the site, and happy to help. The amenities were clean, loved the stool in the shower, and loved the dog shower after a walk in the woods close by. We stayed from Saturday until Monday in the summer holidays and it was lovely seeing extended families playing catch in the middle of the site. There was an ice cream van visiting when we arrived and a fish and chip van visiting that evening for campers wanting a day off from cooking. We were near the amenity block and our WiFi was very good.

The shower block was amazing and the site is very well set out with plenty of water and disposal points. The site is very well kept and is very clean and tidy. Customer service is 50/50 depending on who you speak with. Some staff absolutely amazing and very very helpful, others tone could do with checking. Also brought comfort that there was a person that stayed on site overnight. Fab that they are trying Wi-fi, but they will need to invest in boosters as on certain parts of the site.

    Disliked:

Being next to the Kent county show ground when an event was on meant that noise travelled and noisy till late. It also meant that people came back from that event to the site and continued to be noisy until about 1am. I’m sure that if there was not an event on this would not be an issue so check the Kent show ground schedule before booking.

Really friendly helpful staff . Tourist brochures available.

WiFi was poor reception I have been to some sites that have the beacon in the centre of the site so that the coverage is for all the site is better than having to be near the office in the rain to get a signal.

The site is just off the A249, within 2 miles of the M20 (Junction 7) and 5 miles off the M2 (Junction 5).

The best postcode to follow using a satnav is ME14 3HB as using the postcode takes you on a longer route.

Heading from the M20 Junction 7, drive along the A249 to the top of Detling Hill. As you approach the top you will pass a layby and a sign for Bredhurst. Turn left along the road to Bredhurst; this is Scragged Oak Road. The park is 500 yards along the road on the left marked with a large green sign.

Please do not turn up Pilgrims Way.

Local attractions

Oak View Holiday Park is in prime position to traverse the best of Kent's countryside, coast, castles and well-known gardens – with Essex and its coast easily accessible too just to the north.

Plenty of pedalling and perambulating opportunities are around the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as the 153-mile route of the North Downs National Trail through from Farnham to Canterbury, passing the White Cliffs of Dover. This takes in the 119-mile Pilgrims' Way, the supposed route of Thomas Becket from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral.

Elsewhere in Kent, loads is on all year round in the 500 acres of parkland and formal gardens at lovely Leeds Castle (10 minutes’ drive), like free falconry displays, play areas, special events and making one's way intrepidly out of the castle maze. Also see Rochester Castle (20 minutes) on the east bank of the Medway for its 12th-century keep and stacks of historical info: the castle was sacked during the Peasants' Revolt, held for Henry III against the barons, and besieged (also because of barons) by bad King John.

Must see

  • Leeds Castle (6.9 kilometres)
  • The Historic Dockyard Chatham (10.8 kilometres)
  • Rochester Cathedral (11.0 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Stoneacre (5.6 kilometres)
  • Cobham Wood and Mausoleum (15.1 kilometres)
