Moss Rose Campsite: Our Beautiful Valais sheep

General

  • Peaceful, isolated site on a secluded Lancashire farm
  • A half-hour drive from Blackpool beach and Forest of Bowland
  • Simple grass pitches down a long farm track, 10 minutes from the M6

Moss Rose Campsite is a peaceful, isolated site in the Lancashire countryside, about 10 minutes’ drive from the M6 and half an hour north of Preston.

This is a splendid spot for those who’d like a bit of peace and quiet – pitches are on a simple grass field well away from any neighbours. You’ll have to travel down a long farm track to get here (it’s rather rough and bumpy, so take it slowly) but the reward is a spacious and secluded stay on a small traditional family-run working farm with views out over fields of farm animals. (The owners describe it as ‘somewhat alike to The Darling Buds of May’, for those who remember such telly treats.)

Because of those farm animals, no dogs are allowed on site here, but kids are very welcome and you’re also able to set up barbecues for your evening meal (as long as you’re careful with them…) There’s a pub a couple of miles away if you fancy a pint or a bite to eat.

Day trips around here might take you to the coast at Blackpool or Morecambe, inland to the Forest of Bowland or Lake District or for a bit of city action in Liverpool or Manchester, both of which are a little over an hour’s drive away (thereby also making this site also a good place for city dwellers who fancy a quick escape without a long drive).

Please note

Bookings must not be for more than 5 consecutive nights.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Minimum spacing of 10 metres between pitches.

Bookings must not consist of more than 2 different households.

Owing to government regulations, groups of 6 or more people are not permitted.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.
