The main camping field for families

  • Family-friendly Yorkshire Dales farm near the Dales Way
  • In southern Cumbria, a mile from the centre of Sedbergh
  • Walk to Sedbergh for dog-friendly pubs, cafés and eateries in 15 mins
There's something mightily tempting about staying on a working Dales farm with cattle, sheep, pigs, horses and goats. Farm and Fell Campsite is a peaceful farm site in scenic southern Cumbria, just 15 minutes' walk away from Sedbergh, where guests can get stuck into a number of dog-friendly pubs, cafés and family-friendly eateries. This site is something of a geographical oddity, being located within the borders of the Yorkshire Dales but outside the boundaries of Yorkshire. The surroundings have all the stunning scenery you'd expect from this national park location, with highlights including the nearby river Rawthey, miles of dry stone walls and views over the spectacular Howgill Fells. Walkers itching to get out and explore it all have footpaths (including the Dales Way) that start almost opposite the site entrance. Every pitch at Farm and Fell Campsite has its own firepit; hardwood logs, sticks and firelighters are available from the farmer between 6pm and 8pm every evening. Farm activities may also be available (to be booked separately – mention you're interested on the booking form to learn more). These include lamb feeding, calf rearing and goat walking.

What customers say

This working farm campsite offers stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere, close to Sedbergh. Visitors praise the friendly owners, farm animals, and spacious pitches with fire pits. Facilities are generally clean and basic, with recent upgrades. However, some guests noted limited washing-up and hand-washing facilities, occasional issues with toilet paper, and occasional noise from other campers. Despite some minor drawbacks, many reviewers found it excellent value and plan to return.

Wood Field non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (groups only)

Liked Great views, lovely animals, close to the town which is great for grabbing food.

Disliked Some of the tent pitch are on quite a big slope for tent camping which ment no matter how we set the tent up it was on an angle which made it difficult to sleep well as the only spaces available when we arrived early on were the ones on the slopes.
Anytime we went to the toilets there was never any toilet roll, both the actual site toilets and porterpottys.

Wood Field non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (groups only)

Liked Lovely well kept campsite, large pitches, great views and clean facilities. Owners come round and check if any wood is needed for fire pits at a reasonable cost and collect any rubbish. Picturesque walks in the area, walk into sedbergh and to Dent is easy enough and all the other people we spoke to on the campsite were friendly and happy with their stay

Main Field non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Easy to check in and choose your own pitch. Lots of flat pitches available. Everything is sign posted including descriptions of route into the town on chalk boards. Friendly owners came round at 6pm and 9pm to provide fire pit equipment. £8 and included everything you needed to get going. Farm animals around the site are fun to watch (especially the goats)
