  • Lake District pop-up site in the foothills of Blencathra
  • Keswick, Skiddaw and Helvellyn all within a 10-minute drive
  • Simple, spacious pitches with a stream for paddling
The owners of Low Hollows reckon they’ve got one of the most stunning locations in the Lake District… and it’s easy to see why they love it. This Cumbria pop-up site is in the foothills of Blencathra, so it’s a scenic place, and it’s easy to get to as well – it's just a little way off the A66. That handy position means that it’s easy to get to the village of Threlkeld, a mile away, for two excellent pubs and a coffee shop – or continue on to the bigger market town of Keswick, less than 10 minutes’ drive away. The Keswick to Penrith bus route stops in the village too, so you can get out and about easily without taking the car. And where might your outings take you? Well, it’s all about the open air around here: climbing, horse riding, canoeing and shooting are all within five miles, and there’s a golf course less than a mile away. Cyclists can head out on the C2C (Coast to Coast) route from the village, while walkers take strolls along the Keswick to Threlkeld railway line path. More intrepid types can tick off several Lakeland fells nearby, including Skiddaw and Helvellyn as well as Blencathra. Sounds rather like you’ll need time to chill out back on site – and handily there’s plenty of space for that, plus a stream for soothing tired feet. Barbecues are permitted on the pitches, and you’re welcome to bring dogs and kids (there’s a whole lot of field for them to scamper about in). Facilities are on the low-key side, with just showers and toilets (two of each for the ladies and gents) and a washing-up area.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Shower block more than adequate. Location is fab.

Disliked Other human beings who allow their dog to defecate on the site. In the same location. Multiple times. Dogs toilet. Foul people.
Also the other human beings who defecate all over the toilet seat and don’t clean up after themselves. Foul people.
Poor owners have the dehumanising job of cleaning up after these people.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Very basic site but it's a bargain price. Simple toilets, showers and was facilities. We stayed on the top field, it does have a slope, but if you choose wisely it has little impact. Great location for getting out and about.

Thanks for a lovely stay!

Liked Peaceful and Well-Maintained Campsite 🌳

We really enjoyed our stay at Low Hollows campsite from 27 to 29 June. The site is peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature, and offers a great escape from the hustle and bustle. Facilities were clean and well looked after, and the pitches were nicely spaced for privacy and comfort.

Overall, a fantastic spot to unwind, and we’d happily come back. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Disliked The only minor downside was arriving just after the grass had been freshly mowed—it looked tidy, but the loose clippings did get into the tent and made things a bit messy. Nothing major, just something to keep in mind.

Gorgeous views. Minimal facilities but had everything that we needed. Super close…

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked beautiful part of the Lake District - views 10/10. Campsite 0/10

Disliked We booked and paid for this trip but unfortunately had to return home with the state this field was in, an 8 hour round trip for nothing! There was no clear information on arrival about where to pitch and no one around to report to for guidance or help. The contact number on booking confirmation was never answered. It felt completely unorganised. We attempted to pitch up but failed due to the entire field which was covered in huge amounts of cut grass which hadn’t been collected, there is no way you could comfortably pitch up there! To top it off, our car got stuck in the field several times because of how thick and wet the cut grass was under the tyres, and there was no one around available to assist. Overall, it felt neglected and not worth the visit, especially if you want a stress-free camping experience. Would not recommend.

Overall good, but lack of shower and toilet facilities.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Really nice site, plenty of room and great views

Disliked The site is quite big but in total there are only 4 toilets and 4 showers (2 male and 2 female) - there was always a queue. They need more toilets and more showers.

Loved it. Amazing views with river on site.…

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Fantastic location, 10 minutes from Keswick and the Catbells summit.
Lots of space to choose from, we selected our own pitch.
The views were outstanding.
A nice stream to paddle in, our dog loved swimming in it.

Disliked We had a group of men pitched right by us who were loud late at night and early in the morning. You could do with putting groups on a designated field at the top perhaps.

Beautiful views, and easy access to Keswick. Clean showers and toilets…
