There wasn't much to like apart from being very peaceful

    Disliked:

Flushing toilet wasn't actually flushing as you had to use a bucket, when I read washing area I wrongly assumed that would mean hot water but alas no only a cold water tap in a sink that wasn't very clean as exposed to the elements. On the first morning the tap and drinking water wasn't even running until after 9am. And to top it all off was eaten alive by midge bites. Nothing within walking distance so completely reliant on a car. Really not good value for money compared to other sites of a similar price with far more facilities, we were booked for 3 nights but left after 1 only good thing was we did get a partial refund

The simple fact that it is a basic campsite. No frills camping which the owner likes to share with his visitors. Not over crowded at all with plenty of room to pitch up where you choose when you get there.

If you want a flat, well drained field with fantastic views then this is for you. SImple toilets which you flush from a bucket kept clean and there was always toilet roll. The drinking water from the farms natural spring, which you get from one tap is the clearest water I have seen in a long time.

The fire pit was delivered to us with fire lighter, plenty of kindling and a large bag of logs and worth the £15 to not have to worry about taking it home. If you are in a group a larger pit can be provided.

In the morning Iggy took a walk around every pitch (where people were awake) to say good morning and ask if everything was OK. A really genuine and friendly guy indeed.

If you're looking for a haven or Butlins then stay away, this is not for you.

If it's a relaxing break with a really chilled out atmosphere, somewhere away from the daily routine, back to nature and camping as basic as most could cope with then this is the place to go!! Though ironically the phone signal was better than in the centre of Wakefield.

We will definitely return when we need to unwind and get away from it all.

The back to basics simpleness of the campsite is lovely. It does what it says on the tin - no airs and graces. Just simple camping. The owner is such a lovely guy. He goes round to everyone in the morning to check if they're all ok. The owner's son seems like such a hard working young man. Credit to him! The campfires were a lovely treat for the kids to toast marshmallows on. A bit of extra cost but well worth doing.

    Disliked:

There wasn't anything we disliked about this campsite. We will definitely visit again when we get a new tent (our new Vango Odyssey Air 800 is not great in the rain!).

Really friendly site, very accomodating site manager and nice people on the site. There was a problem with the facilities that was immediately notified about and alternative measures put in place, even leaving free bottles of drinking water out. Really efficient and everything thought through.

The little firepit we hired was lovely and really made the evening. Again really well thought through as it came with kindling and fire lighters as well as logs.

Lovely site if you want a proper camping experience, we sat out until late round the campfire with marshmallows watching the perseid meteor shower.

We only had 3 two men tents not ideal for myself and my husband, a little bit to old for that size tent. We still enjoyed our evening , quite a few tents there and was a very good atmosphere , we had a 7 year old with us so having other children staying on the site helped. It was good to have toilet facilities there -although basic serficed.
    All in all very good.

The basic back to nature camping experience and meeting some lovely friendly people who were also camping

    Disliked:

The group of noisy lads that screamed out songs until past 11 pm on the Saturday night. I hadn't realised that they accept single sex groups. The swear words and general lack of consideration for the families staying was out of order. It did stop at about 11.30 thankfully. I'm assuming that the farmer asked them to calm things down as I can't imagine that they'd have chosen to, but you never know! The Sunday night was bliss (except for the torrential rain :-) as there was no-one else there, except one other tent ⛺ I'd stay again, but not on a Friday or Saturday night.
