Mad about walking? Then you’d be silly to miss out on Aarons Campsite – the Cragg Vale location, between Halifax and Hebden Bridge, is right in the heart of the lush green Pennines, where heading out for a wander can turn into a full-blown hike that ranks up there with the best of them. The secluded family-friendly site, in an area of moors and fields, is within easy reach of local attractions such as the popular tourist town of Hebden Bridge. The surrounding hills and valleys (including Stoodley Pike) have been popular with trekking types for yonks too, whether for strolling along a riverside path, or for following stone causeways marking old packhorse routes. There's great dog-walking terrain in all directions too. It’s all about the relaxing back to basics camping experience here, but just have a chat with the staff and they’ll provide you with portable firepits and wood for your campfire (for a small extra charge) – they also have a larger fixed campfire available for group hire. The easily accessible fields are flat and drained. If you’re out of nosh or fancy leaving the cooking to someone else one evening, the site has a food shack and bar on site open on Fridays and Saturdays, where you can tuck into bacon butties and local brewed ales. But if you’re out in the car on a food mission, be sure to grab some bits for the barbecue and invite some of your newfound friends over for a evening meal.

Liked Stayed many times.
Lovely area and all staff are excellent 👏.

Disliked £17.50 per night for a small van 1 person and a dog is way to much for an unmowed field.

Remote and peaceful but check if there is a weekend event.

Disliked May feel very different then on site Pub and food is open. Warn if events are taking place. A small site that could get overwhelmed if there is a large event booking.

Liked Absolutely gorgeous campsite. Lovely little bar and great pitches. The wooded area protects you from the wind in roof tents, offers nice privacy and a great communal feel with the bar open at weekends.

Liked Quirky place, cool bar and food on site. Friendly staff, dog friendly.

Disliked Paid for a decent pitch with room for a gazebo ended up on a uneven muddy field barely adequate for a tent. Been on much better sites for half the price.

There's more shopping, along with Victorian streets and a hillside setting, at Hebden Bridge (20 minutes' drive), frequently hailed as one of the best market towns in the UK and Europe.
