What customers say
This is a peaceful, adult-only campsite with spacious, level pitches. Facilities are generally clean and well-maintained, with many visitors praising the hot showers and the site's quiet atmosphere. Its location is convenient for exploring local attractions and pubs. Some guests noted limited toilet and shower facilities, and minor issues with electric hook-ups, though the site appears to be undergoing improvements.

Nice peaceful site
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We booked this because it was adults only ,it was peaceful they had a field with friendly sheep where we pitched our tent
Disliked Close to a busy road so you could hear some traffic

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we hope the road didn't spoil your stay with us. :-(
Pitch was level with it's own water supply which was handy.
Electric hardstanding and grass pitch
Liked Small well kept site, local pub short walk away.
Disliked Large group of lads turned up for Saturday night & pitched up in center field, they where noisy up till 1.30/l 2am which was disappointing as we thought the rules stated no groups and no music so we assumed emphasis was on quiet.

A depressingly poorly maintained and unwelcoming campsite
Electric hardstanding and grass pitch
Liked Nothing.
Disliked We disliked the site so much that we didn’t stay, even though we had booked for two nights. The place looks run down and badly maintained as soon as you turn up. There is very little signage showing you where it is and even that is poorly maintained. There is no reception, just a board telling you which pitch you are on. The ablutions were terrible: one single male toilet and shower in the same small, poorly maintained single-room hut, with the same for the women. There was no one else on the site, although a car and caravan pulled up as we were leaving. The campsite was soleless and depressing, small, out-dated and has very little to recommend it from our point of view. We weren’t looking for a large and busy site - that’s not our thing either - but this campsite did not even feel safe, and was certainly not welcoming nor in good condition.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us, however! I'm really not sure how you can say we look run down and badly maintained! As you can see by the photos on our pitchup site Martin takes great pride in the presentation and maintenance of the site and I'm not sure how new signage can be badly maintained!. I would suggest that if you going to leave negative reviews on peoples sites you make them accurate as you were not the only people on site, there where 4 other bookings in on the first night you were here and if you were that unhappy you had to leave, you should have contacted me I could have re advertised your pitch and refunded you, instead you waited 3 days to leave us a negative review!.
There are photos of all our facilities and it does state on pitchup that we are a unmanned site, there are 2 toilet/shower blocks on site clearly marked on the site map board which you clearly sore on your way in. It is your job to research the sites you intend to stay at to ensure that it is somewhere you are happy to stay, we give a full and accurate description of our site and facilities along with plenty of photo's and also the 322 reviews for you to do a comprehensive research before you book.

Bit confusing when 1st arrived as it said road closed better information regarding this would have helped a great deal as you can actually access the camp site via this road. ( Not the campsites fault tho )

Clean and quite, all the required facilities and a great location.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Generous sized pitches, well maintained site, lovely and quiet setting. Close to a cute village with a thriving local pub.
Close to Richmond and lots of other abbeys/ruins to explore.
Was concerned about the shower facilities as I've seen some bad reviews but I found them to be great; a shower at each end of the site, consistent hot water/pressure and clean as can be. There was occasionally spider but that's certainly expected when camping. Oh, and they're free! Really enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
Disliked Nothing to complain about.
I do like sites that have a freezer for ice blocks and a socket or two for charging but we get by without.
Although a heads up about the closed road would have been an extra over thought...would have saved us 15mins at the end of a long journey (drive through the closed signs, you can still access the campsite from either direction)

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Very reasonably priced and easy to find pitches which are well organised. Loved the warm shower room with its great shower. Good place to stay for two nights as it's so close to Richmond.
Looking forward to seeing the new toilet facilities!
Disliked The facilities could do with a bit of upkeep, eg - checking the bulbs

Great location and pitch facilities.
Electric hardstanding and grass pitch
Liked Location and size of pitch are great. Also super to have water at each pitch, very useful.
Disliked Only two showers for a large number of people so queuing inevitable . Also we were unlucky enough to be next to a big barking dog which is annoying. No one’s fault but the owner of course!
