Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Fantastic site. Very beautiful. Lovely staff. Great walks from the site and village with pubs in walking distance. Lots of nice people on site too.

Disliked: The large group having a film show on a big screen and the loud music all night from another group!

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We liked the friendly owners/staff, the new and clean bathrooms, excellent location within walking distance to Knighton, the on site coffee kiosk (Offa's Treats), lots of hot water and good phone coverage.

Disliked: Not dislikes but things to consider. We were at the end of the far field (we chose the pitch) so it was a little bit of a walk to the toilet block. A portaloo or two scattered around would make that middle of the night call of nature a little quicker. This site is right next to a railway which was not particularly busy over the bank holiday weekend but there were a couple of early trains on weekdays.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: As newbies to campervan touring we loved the relaxed vibe of this site - One very pleasant interaction with the host, no particular stipulations about where or how to park up. Managed to find a good, level-ish spot. Very pleasant riverside walk into Knighton and a great ice-cream / snack / breakfast bar kiosk on site. A railway line runs right next to the site but there were very few trains so of no consequence. Site is all grass pitches with no hook up.

Disliked: Can't think of much.

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Amazing campsite! This was my first solo camping trip and I felt very safe here. The facilities were modern and clean and the site was beautiful. There were stunning views in every direction.
Best thing was the wildlife. Red kites and buzzards flying over constantly, Tawny owls at night. The bird song at sunrise was amazing to listen to, I have never heard so many birds. There were dragon flies, bats, fish as well as the local farm animals. I think I spent most of my stay just watching all the wildlife!
I pitched up next to the river, which was beautiful. It was a sunny couple of days so was nice to have a paddle to cool down.
The staff were friendly and regularly came round the site, which made me feel very safe as a solo traveler.
The shared fridge, kettle and microwave were useful.
Offa’s Dyke goes straight through the site so great of you like walking!
I will 100% be returning and bringing family to show them how amazing this campsite is.

Disliked: Very minor, the showers could do with being a bit warmer. (Don’t let this put you off, still very good facilities)

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely place with riverside pitches and access to Offa’s Dyke footpath and others.
Friendly owners and good, clean facilities. Easy walk along river into Knighton for pubs, shops etc. Train station within 15 mins walk for trains to Shrewsbury, Llandrindod Wells and other smaller places, which made a fun day out

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A beautiful site with plenty of room. Friendly owners, good clean facilities and a small cafe on site. A short walk along the river into town and easy access to the Offa's dike path. Very little light pollution if you like star gazing, and a wonderful dawn chorus. Will definitely be back!

Disliked: The only (minor) negatives would be that the toilets are quite far from the furthest pitches and in (in my opinion) they could do with a few more given the size of the site.

Local attractions

As you’ll probably be skipping about either side of Offa’s Dyke, it makes sense to start your trip with a visit to the Offa’s Dyke centre (five minutes’ drive) to find out about the ancient landmark. For other walking trails, head to the Elan Valley or Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both 40 minutes). For a closer look at the natural world, plan trips to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (25 minutes) or stop by at the Red Kite Feeding Station (40 minutes) to see these splendid beasts in flight. The Spaceguard Centre observatory (10 minutes) is also worth a visit if you’d like to find out more about the skies overhead. Castle outings are part of the landscape for trips here too – perhaps to the impressive 13th-century fortifications of Stokesay Castle (half an hour) or the art-filled rooms and colourful gardens of Powis Castle and Garden (50 minutes). If you’d rather skip straight to the garden strolls, try Hergest Croft Gardens (25 minutes).
