Just next to the Offa’s Dyke Path and on the banks of the River Teme, Panpwnton Farm is about as close to Wales as it’s possible to be without actually being in Wales (although as the border’s just a couple of hundred metres away you can easily flit between the two nations as you wish…). That location makes this a prime pick for anyone making their way along the entirety of the Offa’s Dyke Path – but there’s plenty of walking (and cycling too) to be done nearby for folk who aren’t up for such long-distance ventures. The farm is in the southern stretches of the Shropshire Hills National Landscape (10 minutes' drive from Llanfair Waterdine), where lots of scenic trails await, and you can also try out shorter stretches of Glyndwr’s Way, another major trail on the Welsh side of the border. There’s pretty rural scenery all around the farm, but you’ll not be stranded miles from civilisation – in fact it’s only about a mile to the small town of Knighton for pubs, eateries, shops and a railway station. You can drive down there in five minutes or so, but the favoured way to travel is to stroll along the riverbank for 20 minutes. Barbecues are permitted on site, so stock up on goodies for the grill while you’re in town. A washing-up area is on hand for cleaning up afterwards, and there are hot showers to help you do the same for yourself. There’s no wifi on site, but most guests get decent phone signal, and there are charging facilities to make sure you’ve got plenty of juice to plan your adventures.

Deze goed onderhouden camping, aan een rivier en nabij Offa's Dyke, biedt prachtige uitzichten en ruime plaatsen. De faciliteiten zijn schoon en modern; de keuken met koelkast en waterkoker is populair. Ik was blij met We’ve stayed here before and it’s always so clean and the setting is fantastic, just off the offa trail and close to Knighton which has a few pubs and shops.
The river Teme runs through the grounds which really sets the tone for a restful break.

Ik was blij met Great space between pitches, right by the water, peaceful, very pretty area. No light pollution so great for star gazing.
We could see the owners were installing new toilets in the far field and improving areas of the farm.

Ik was niet blij met A walk to get to the toilet/shower from where we set up camp & could do with more toilets, especially female only.
Although it didn’t bother us, the noise of the train passing by the campsite could be bothersome to some.

Ik was blij met You get to choose where to pitch your tent and plenty of room. Nice flat pitches.
Location of site was great for accessing hiking routes and walking along the river into town. Lovely scenery all around.
Access to kettle, microwave and freezer was very useful and we used all of these.
The on-site cafe was a real bonus, very friendly and allowed us a well deserved treat after our walks!

Ik was blij met Beautiful site, great walks, great bike riding location, clean facilities!

Ik was niet blij met Yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap yap bark bark bark bark went the poor dog each morning which woke us all up. This was advertised as a quiet site and we hardly got any sleep from listening to the constant barking from this dog each morning!!!! This made the site go from perfect to a nightmare! We were glad to get home to some peace and quiet.

Van de manager: I can only apologies about the dog, he’s new, we’ve only had him a few days, he wakes at 6am and barks for breakfast. We are trying our best to stop this.
We’ve never had such a low review score. I can assure you this will be controlled.

Ik was blij met Beautiful site, really nice hosts and good facilities in the main area. Appreciated the fridge/kettle/microwave and nice showers! Really good walking routes from site, too.

Ik was niet blij met A bit of a walk at night to the toilets (5 mins or so), and could do with more facilities given the number of people on site, however it was peak August camping. Additionally, the camping area grass was covered in sheep poo so we had to do a fair bit of clearance on arrival. A bit frustrating but not the end of the world.

As you’ll probably be skipping about either side of Offa’s Dyke, it makes sense to start your trip with a visit to the Offa’s Dyke centre (five minutes’ drive) to find out about the ancient landmark. For other walking trails, head to the Elan Valley or Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both 40 minutes). For a closer look at the natural world, plan trips to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (25 minutes) or stop by at the Red Kite Feeding Station (40 minutes) to see these splendid beasts in flight. The Spaceguard Centre observatory (10 minutes) is also worth a visit if you’d like to find out more about the skies overhead. Castle outings are part of the landscape for trips here too – perhaps to the impressive 13th-century fortifications of Stokesay Castle (half an hour) or the art-filled rooms and colourful gardens of Powis Castle and Garden (50 minutes). If you’d rather skip straight to the garden strolls, try Hergest Croft Gardens (25 minutes).
