Life, so they say, is full of choices. And so is the peaceful and secluded Brook House Farm Camping and Caravan Site, where you can choose a tent pitch in an adults-only or family field, roll up your motorhome or tourer on a grass pitch with optional electric hookup, or slumber in a comfy camping pod, with double bed already made up for you when you arrive – and kettle ready for a cuppa…
Once you’re settled in, take your pick from fishing on Brook House Farm’s own stretch of the River Severn, hiring a bike to pedal around the Welsh Marches, or meandering around the nearby meadows for flora and fauna spotting. The choices continue for food: the campsite is based in the grounds of the Brook House Farm B&B, where you can have breakfast, or you can tuck into nosh at the café, use the squeaky clean on-site kitchen, or hire a firepit to sizzle supper under the stars; there are also several pubs and restaurants nearby.
One constant in all this is that wherever you lay your hat, your pitch at this relaxed site will have a pristine view, with the park set in the pretty Powys countryside on the banks of the River Severn and with buzzards and the occasional red kite soaring overhead. Pitches are close to the spotlessly clean shower block; there’s a launderette and washing up area on site too, a well-stocked shop with smart souvenirs and a farm shop selling local produce.
Lace up your walking boots: with Brook House Farm midway between Welshpool and Shropshire’s county town Shrewsbury, it’s a shrewd place to stop to see the Shropshire Hills and mid Wales on an active family hol. Shropshire has over 3500 miles’ worth of right of way paths for longer distance hikes and shorter strolls; the 210-mile Severn Way passes along nearby for taking a hike along it on a day trip or stopping off at Brook Farm if you’re attempting it all (we salute you).
The slightly less ambitious, but still salute-worthy, 171-km Offa’s Dyke Path can be accessed from here too: the very helpful Brook House Farm owners can arrange a shuttle bus for you to join the trail if you let them know in advance.
For less tired feet, a plethora of outdoor pursuits is within easy reach of the farm including horse-riding, mountain biking and golf; paragliding and lessons are available too at nearby Rodney’s Pillar and the Long Mynd. Land some slippery characters by casting off on the River Severn: Brook House’s own stretch of river yields barbell into double figures, but there are shoals of other nearby spots to land salmon, trout and grayling. There are some commercial fisheries within twenty minutes’ drive to thrash things out at too, such as Weston Pool near Oswestry.
Once you’ve cleaned off your catch and soothed your sore feet, jump into the car for some historical highlights: the medieval fortress Powis Castle with its famous French and Italian garden; Shrewsbury Castle with the Shropshire Regimental Museum Trust; the Red Castle and Grotto Hill of the eighteenth century Hawkstone Historic Park & Follies, and the town of Shrewsbury, with over 600 listed buildings.

From the manager...
I find this review rather frustrating due to many families continuing to use my site as we have a big open plan space for children to play and the tents are on the outskirts of the perimeter and we do not allow fire pits any where else bar by the side of the pitch. We have site rules and to which we like our customers to abide by one being wood to be purchased which is reasonably priced and seasoned so burns well, My husband did speak to the lady due to her being on our neighbours land collecting large branches which she was cutting up with a saw and she also had a small axe if it had been twigs we would never had to say anything. when she was leaving she had left a pile of partly burnt wood which we had to clean up hence selling seasoned wood. My husband did not use bad language he just merely told her not to do something which she didn't agree with so was defensive.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can now make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children on one pitch.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
