Brook House Farm Camping and Caravan Site

Mi è piaciuto Great location, plenty to do in the surrounding area but also out of the way. Clean and tidy site.

Non mi è piaciuto The showers were cold, another guest explained that we needed to turn on the hot water on the boiler in the washing up area to get hot water.
When we went for breakfast in the cafe we were told it was only baps as we hadn’t ordered the previous evening.
I believe both issues could have been resolved with a simple pamphlet on how the site is run on arrival so that we were able to make the most of our stay.
Another guest had ordered a fire pit from reception (even with the current government rules on open fires in place). After lighting they were told “it only takes one spark” by the owner, the guest offered to move the fire over (away from their lodge) the owner agreed only to tell them before she left that “wood for fires was only to be purchased on site and not bought from other retailers”.
The site rules again not being very clear.

Mi è piaciuto Beautiful surroundings, Bed was super comfortable and had a bed for our toddler too. Heater in the lodge was much appreciated for the chilly nights.

Non mi è piaciuto We had a fab time but just a few tiny tweaks could have made it even better. Milk was provided (though it was a month out of date) in hotel style pots but no tea bags or coffee or sugar. We had brought our own so we were fine but was strange to have the empty caddies in the lodge.
There was a sleep mask left over from a previous occupant under the bed and cobwebs between the fridge and washing up bowl and the bed frame. We didn't mind but could see how some people might.

We weren't shown where the toilets/showers/washing up was so we didn't know about switching on the boiler before hand. The mops for cleaning the floor in the showers had a broken strainer so you couldn't properly strain the water off the mop so the floors were always very wet.
We weren't told about needing to order breakfast the night before if you needed it.

Ability to charge phones in cafe,
Could pitch tents together as a group

Non mi è piaciuto Improvement to the infrastructure would really elevate the site - better road to lower fields, outside kitchen for families to wash up, opening of more than 2 showers and 3 toilets for whole site (plus guests to cafe), low level lighting for night, pricing and availability of services clearer for all guests

Mi è piaciuto We had a fantastic stay at Brook House Farm! The site was wonderfully quiet, peaceful, and spotlessly clean throughout our trip. It provided the perfect, tranquil setting for a relaxed family break. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back!

Mi è piaciuto Amazing campsite for tents and renting some lodges with an opportunity to do fishing in the near by lake or river.
The area where we had our tents pitched was great to go with little kids, as they had an area to play within our eye sight. The toilet and bathroom facilities were well looked after and clean. Also nice shop and restaurant.

Mi è piaciuto Nice quiet well maintained site, small cafe/bar onsite and a number of takeaways within a 15 minute drive.

Non mi è piaciuto Only 2 out of the 4 shower blocks had toilets in and the other 2 which only had showers were locked for most of our stay, I did observe the owner unlocking one of the shower rooms one morning which gave additional capacity, shame this wasn’t done in the evening when showers with toilets were being used by the bar guests making the floor quite dirty,

Mi è piaciuto Lovely, clean and well-maintained campsite with a nice little café/bar on site. We were still able to get drinks from the bar on Saturday evening despite there being a private party taking place, which was a nice touch.

The site was very quiet on the Sunday night, with only a few guests around, so it was perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing stay away from the crowds.

Non mi è piaciuto Fishing is advertised as being available online, but when we asked about it, we were told it wasn’t possible due to the drought, which is understandable. However, there were still quite a few people fishing around the site, so this was a little confusing.

Only 2 of the 4 shower blocks were open during our stay. On the Saturday night, the private party in the bar meant the toilets and shower blocks were particularly busy. By Sunday, however, the site was almost empty, with only a handful of guests, and the café/bar closed in the afternoon.

There were no electric sockets available for campers, other than those in the café, so this is worth bearing in mind if you need access to electricity.

Dal gestore: Thank you for your lovely review,fishing is advertised and we are allowing people to fish the river due to lack of water in the pool.
All showers were open,maybe they were in use.
We are open long hours Friday and Saturday,Sunday we go with the flow.We finish normally at 3 but if customers are in we actually closed at 5.
All you have to do is ask for electric and we provide.Cafe is open a lot of hours to provide this.
There was a party and band and all customers were told they were welcome to listen to the band and bar was open till late.
Hope you will visit again .

Mi è piaciuto Small quiet site in the country close to 3 National Trust Properties, good walks and quaint towns. The Potting Shed cafe on site is great and the staff friendly.
