Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Place was lovely! Owner welcoming after the chaos on the day we arrived Also lovely on site pub very reasonable. Unable to get food the day we arrive due to a fire 2 days before. So went to the local pub which was a 10minute walk. Food was delicious.

Disliked When we arrived nobody was there. So tried phoning and tried knocking doors but still nothing for15 minutes. Just a sign saying closed. Managed to flag someone down who was guest, Then to be informed there had been a fire in the shower block 2 days ago . No staff available to talk to us.shortly after the owner came over and said if we wanted to go home we would get a refund or stay and get another free stay . Which by the way never got to re book. So never got that ! Also there was an incident on the second night which the owners did try to resolve as quickly has they could. Maybe review same sex groups .

The Mount lodge (no pets)

Liked We love this site. It is reasonably priced, beautifully maintained and is the perfect escape for families. The site feels wonderfully secluded and safe for the kids to play, with a little gated fishing lake that they love. There is a lovely onsite bar serving food and alcohol with a quirky shop. The showers and toilets are always kept clean and there is a sink to do your washing up. We camped on our first visit and loved it so much we came back - this time staying in one of their cosy lodges which included a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave (a luxury after camping). The host is always friendly and welcoming. Truly the best little find, you wont be disappointed. We look forward to returning again next year. Our little ones are 4 & 6 for reference.

Local attractions

Lace up your walking boots: with Brook House Farm midway between Welshpool and Shropshire’s county town Shrewsbury, it’s a shrewd place to stop to see the Shropshire Hills and Mid Wales on an active family hol. Shropshire has over 3500 miles’ worth of right of way paths for longer distance hikes and shorter strolls; the 210-mile Severn Way passes along nearby for taking a hike along it on a day trip or stopping off at Brook Farm if you’re attempting it all. The Offa’s Dyke Path can be accessed from here too: the very helpful Brook House Farm owners can arrange a shuttle bus for you to join the trail if you let them know in advance. For less tired feet, a plethora of outdoor pursuits within easy reach of the farm includes horse riding, mountain biking and golf; paragliding and lessons are available at nearby Rodney’s Pillar and the Long Mynd. Land some slippery characters by casting off on the River Severn: Brook House’s own stretch of river yields barbel into double figures, but there are shoals of other nearby spots to land salmon, trout and grayling. There are some commercial fisheries within 20 minutes’ drive to thrash things out at too, such as Weston Pool near Oswestry. Once you’ve cleaned off your catch and soothed your sore feet, jump into the car for some historical highlights: the medieval fortress Powis Castle with its famous French and Italian garden; Shrewsbury Castle with the Shropshire Regimental Museum Trust; the Red Castle and Grotto Hill of the 18th-century Hawkstone Historic Park & Follies, and the town of Shrewsbury, with over 600 listed buildings.
