General

  • Cosy family-run farm site three miles from the edge of the Cotswolds
  • A five-minute drive from the wildlife park; 40 minutes from Oxford
  • On-site shop selling fresh produce including local honey; firepits

Cocoon down for a rather cosy stay at West End Farm Camping. A small family-run farm three miles from the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the pitches here are in a grassy plot surrounded by fields grazed by animals or left to grow for hay. A five-minute drive from Burford and the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, you’ll be well-connected to the local attractions here too.

This is a rural location, so the views come in strong - the site looks over the Cotswolds and the Ridgeway, Handily, walking and cycling paths are not far away either and there are lots of routes into the lovely villages and little Cotswold towns nearby.

From here though, you’ll be particularly primed to see Burford’s medieval bridge, church and antique shops or to potter into Shilton village for its ford and friendly pub within 10 minutes’ walk of the site.

Fresh produce may get your mouth watering a little, as the site has a little shop stocked with meat such as pork and beef, eggs, bread and locally-produced jams and honey. Beatrice the Bakery Box, a tiny horsebox café, is also open on Saturdays at the farm selling coffee and other hot and cold drinks, light lunch options and sweet treats including doughnuts.

There are firepits with each roomy pitch where you may want to get stuck into your new dins. Other comfortable facilities on the site include hot gas showers.

The facilities are kept clean and tidy plus they have very clear operating instructions available.

Hosts were kind and helpful at all times - especially their beautiful dog Hetty!

Amazing location that feels rural but is actually very close to amenities. You really cannot beat the fact you're so close to some beautiful animals (cows, chickens, lambs)

Fresh produce available in the shop - the eggs were unreal!!!!!

    Disliked:

Pitches feel quite close together if they're all occupied.

Enough facilities on site, basic but did the job, Cotswolds villages/Towns nearby.

    Disliked:

Each pitch has large groups during our stay; we travelled as a couple plus our cousin and two dogs. The pitches were a little too close to each other.

The peaceful area and camp. It was nice and clean. Lovely being there with the cows in the barn as you drive through.
Amazing space between each pitch and only 8 pitches so it was great for us. And it was so close to burford, the wildlife park . Loved it there
Nice touch having a field with some children's toys and that to play with . Which the sheep seemed to like going in with

    Disliked:

My young daughter wasn't overjoyed with the compost toilets lol but apart from that was great.
Maybe having dogs allowed as the first night someones dog kept barking from about 10 pm until about 2 am .

Lovely campsite with really big, well spaced out pitches - perfect as we were travelling with a dog. Great spot and lovely and close to a great pub (easy walking distance) which did an utterly fabulous roast dinner. HOT showers (what a luxury on a campsite).

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike. We were sad that the little horse ox cafe wasn’t open when we were there… but other than that all good!

Small campsite with a large designated pitch, plenty of space. Amazing little coffee cart on a Saturday, and very friendly owners! Loved watching the cows in the field while we toasted marshmallows by the fire - the fire pit per pitch was great also.
The owners were very welcoming and provided kindling when we arrived.
The compost loos and shower were simple but all you need.
The farm shop was brilliant. We bought some honey on our way out.
Great location, just in the edge of some beautiful Cotswold villages.
Very dog friendly, with plenty of space between pitches also.

We chose this site as its local to us as we needed to clean our tent however was shocked at how perfect the site is! We will definitely be frequenting this site often for breaks away. Each pitch has a mowed square and walkway through slightly longer grass. Far away from your neighbours to have privacy but can also chat if you wanted to. Each pitch has their own recycling and general waste bin and fire pit. You are gifted a generous bag of kindling and have the option to purchase wood at £8 per bag or 2 for £15. The wood is beautifully dried and we only used half of what we purchased. The farm shop has basics inside. We bought local honey, jam, eggs and bread. They have compost toilets with clear instructions on how to use and also an open air shower (did not use shower) . Everything was explained to us on arrival by Ceila, a wonderful kind lady. On Saturdays Beatrice the Bakery box opens around 10. We had lovely strong coffee, cake and brownies. All homemade and super delicious. No light pollution so was able to see the night sky. We said hello to the farms pigs, lambs and cows. Loved the cute calves. Check in was 1300 and check out 1100. Excellent times!
