Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

Liked: Nice flat campsite with good facilities, useful shop and playground and goats to keep kids entertained. Nice walks nearby.

Disliked: A lot busier than last time we visited and quite loud (older kids running about).

Liked: I really liked the Kids play area, covered seating area with wood burners, on site bar and clean equipped facilities. The old dairy farm its great for couples or families and has something for everyone. There is a canal 5mins walk from the site that leads into Cropredy and has 2 very nice pubs. Can’t wait to book our next stay

Liked: Just stayed for a night but most impressed! Check in was simple and staff very friendly. They have a shop, great undercover outdoor area, what looked like a fabulous play area for kids, goats and an aviary. We’d bought our own food and drink but they did have a bar and were doing pizzas on the Saturday night. Lots of space and a very reasonable price. Also a short walk to Cropredy, where we tried the Mulberry Cafe & Brasenose Pub for drinks (both excellent). Will definitely be back!

Everything you need is there, toilets, showers are well-kept, service 5/5, the terrain is flat...
Price for a tent without hookups £20, great.
Attractions for children, that's the most important thing... you have a moment to breathe. A small zoo - a great thing for children.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Changes to your holiday

Changes cannot be made once you have booked.

Coronavirus

Onsite entertainment will not be offered due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.
Owing to government regulations, groups of 30 or more people are not permitted.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
