General

  • Fishing site on the outskirts of Skegness
  • Several well-stocked fishing lakes with quiet lakeside spots
  • Modern facilities block with toilets and hot showers

What a serene Skegness spot. Mega relaxing Roach Farm Park is close to the amusements and sands of Lincolnshire's busiest seaside resort, but you wouldn't know it from its peacefully pretty location, set in green countryside and with scenic fishing lakes right on site.

The several well-stocked lakes here are all available to guests for a small fee – and if you aren't angling after fishing, you'll find plenty of placid spots around the lakesides to settle down at with book, tablet or your very own thoughts. Site facilities are sorted at the modern facilities block with toilets and hot showers.

Skegness is a ten-minute drive away; if you'd rather leave the car behind, a bus stop is just outside the site.

This site is a member of Coastfields Leisure group.

The site was clean, and the view was relay relaxing from your pitch.
The fishing was well priced and the lakes were full of activity.

    Disliked:

We stayed on pitch 17 which was not ideal with an awning as it dropped into a hole
so you did find it hard to stand anything up in your awning and could course some problems if we had received some heavy rain.
We also had are two children with us aged 5 and 13, which we found hard to keep entertained as there was no swings or activates on the site.

whilst the site is very good quality in dry weather we were unfortunate to have three nights with rain . this made the pitches extremely muddy also the pitches were on banks that made it so large of a drop off at the rear of our caravan we were unable to use our awning which , we had paid extra for , when we mentioned this to the receptionist she said we should have told her on our arrival then she could have assessed the plot . also we were told that we had the last two plots when we booked , this was not so as there were four plots on hard standing that were not used . we asked about these plots and were told they were for over spill only . In my opinion these should be used when the weather is bad . when we left our plots another van was making its way to the plot we had just left and it almost slid off the bank and into the lake , the plots number 16 to 20 on this site are dangerous in wet weather . in hindsight i will not use this sight if the weather is forecast to be wet . also there is an argumentive warden who needs to be told to respect the guests , not to lecture them about feeding ducks , { his words to me that if the tourists did not feed the ducks then they would not have a problem with them } I would suggest this man needs to be told to respect wild life as they have as much right to be on the grounds as he has .

Very nice location, very clean and tidy site.

    Disliked:

The weather, unfortunately we stayed for only 4 nights and had 4 nights of rain which did make the site a bit water logged. The main thing that would stop us choosing this site again would be the pitch sizes, bit on the small size, not room for caravan, car and awning.

Peaceful, uncrowded, loved having the lakes although we don't fish. Very helpful and friendly reception. Facilities nice and clean and was pleased to see the mop and bucket of disinfectant for mopping out the showers, not something you see on all sites. My husband was very impressed with the facilities and cleanliness in the male toilet block.

The mobile phone and non-wifi internet reception were excellent.

    Disliked:

The showers in the ladies are spacious enough to have a shower curtain across and a bench or stool on the 'dry' side to put your stuff. Again, many sites have this and I missed it here.

Over the four toilet cubicles there are only two lights, so, because the decor is also quite dark this gives the toilet bock a rather gloomy appearance.

The pitch did slope somewhat, but was manageable without getting the ramps out.

Relaxed atmosphere around the site. Fishing was good.

    Disliked:

No small shop on site providing basic supplies such as newspapers and milk etc.
The site was like a building site during the day due to a new static caravan arriving. Being told to move our caravan back two feet to accommodate its arrival was annoying, particularly when you have already put up your awning. Bad planning

Local attractions

Most folk coming to these parts angle to get to Skegness first, the famed seaside town with sandy beach, pier, many amusements and evening entertainment in clubs, bars and the Embassy Theatre.

The Natureland Seal Santuary is in town too if you/the kids want to see some local nature; to see seals in the wild, the Donna Nook Natural Nature Reserve covers over six miles of salt marsh coastline between Grainthorpe Haven and Saltfleet.

Around Skegness are Ingoldmells, most visited for its theme park Fantasy Island and its big indoor market, open seven days a week; the beach huts and sands of Sutton on Sea to the north, and more of the same along with another seal sanctuary at Mablethorpe.

Roach Farm Park is also a short drive from the traditional pubs and family-run shops of Lincolnshire town Burgh Le Marsh.
