General

  • Fishing site on the outskirts of Skegness
  • Several well-stocked fishing lakes with quiet lakeside spots
  • Modern facilities block with toilets and hot showers

What a serene Skegness spot. Mega relaxing Roach Farm Park is close to the amusements and sands of Lincolnshire's busiest seaside resort, but you wouldn't know it from its peacefully pretty location, set in green countryside and with scenic fishing lakes right on site.

The several well-stocked lakes here are all available to guests for a small fee – and if you aren't angling after fishing, you'll find plenty of placid spots around the lakesides to settle down at with book, tablet or your very own thoughts. Site facilities are sorted at the modern facilities block with toilets and hot showers.

Skegness is a ten-minute drive away; if you'd rather leave the car behind, a bus stop is just outside the site.

This site is a member of Coastfields Leisure group.

Peaceful, uncrowded, loved having the lakes although we don't fish. Very helpful and friendly reception. Facilities nice and clean and was pleased to see the mop and bucket of disinfectant for mopping out the showers, not something you see on all sites. My husband was very impressed with the facilities and cleanliness in the male toilet block.

The mobile phone and non-wifi internet reception were excellent.

    Disliked:

The showers in the ladies are spacious enough to have a shower curtain across and a bench or stool on the 'dry' side to put your stuff. Again, many sites have this and I missed it here.

Over the four toilet cubicles there are only two lights, so, because the decor is also quite dark this gives the toilet bock a rather gloomy appearance.

The pitch did slope somewhat, but was manageable without getting the ramps out.

Relaxed atmosphere around the site. Fishing was good.

    Disliked:

No small shop on site providing basic supplies such as newspapers and milk etc.
The site was like a building site during the day due to a new static caravan arriving. Being told to move our caravan back two feet to accommodate its arrival was annoying, particularly when you have already put up your awning. Bad planning

from booking, to leaving the staff were very helpful, even phoning us on route to find out our progress and to explain how to go about getting the keys should we arrive late.the plot we were given was a reasonable size next to the dog walking area which was good as we have a dog,it was quite and relaxing. My only regret was that I didnt take my fishing gear with me this time. Skegness is a good walk away for the energetic, for the less energetic there is a bus stop outside the complex with regular buses. we enjoyed our first stay and will definitely go again for longer.

Site itself well laid out, view from van lovely and a very peaceful site even when fill. fishing right in front of van. Ted one of the site helpers was very good throughout our stay and especially around the fishing pool, always helpful. The site is very well priced and it's a per pitch price rather than per person. Very Clean and well maintained toilet and shower block. Close to Skegness and all amenities and beaches etc.

    Disliked:

Shower was cold 3 days out of the 4 we stayed. Mentioned at office to be told others hadn't complained, yet all our neighbours were having same issue. With having Children that made it awkward for us. My Mother was told it was due to site being busy over Easter Bank Holiday. They said they would sort it but while we were there it was a shame as it took the race off our stay.
Of Minor note as we don't expect it but we would've appreciated it that on check out day we asked if we could possibly pay to stay on for the day and check out late or leave the van somewhere if not to enjoy the bank holiday Monday last day of our stay with family who were remaining for the week. I Was told that although they expected noone else that day on the site they couldn't accommodate that for us. I would've fully understood if the site was full or expecting alot of arrivals in but surprised when most had left and noone new coming on. Even if we'd have had to pay an extra night and leave later same day it would've been appreciated.

Some slight uneven ground towards the back of pitch so did require a level on one side of van but generally pitches flat and grass kept short. Nothing off putting.

Local attractions

Most folk coming to these parts angle to get to Skegness first, the famed seaside town with sandy beach, pier, many amusements and evening entertainment in clubs, bars and the Embassy Theatre.

The Natureland Seal Santuary is in town too if you/the kids want to see some local nature; to see seals in the wild, the Donna Nook Natural Nature Reserve covers over six miles of salt marsh coastline between Grainthorpe Haven and Saltfleet.

Around Skegness are Ingoldmells, most visited for its theme park Fantasy Island and its big indoor market, open seven days a week; the beach huts and sands of Sutton on Sea to the north, and more of the same along with another seal sanctuary at Mablethorpe.

Roach Farm Park is also a short drive from the traditional pubs and family-run shops of Lincolnshire town Burgh Le Marsh.
