  • A 35-minute drive from Lincoln and 15 from Tattershall Farm Park
  • Playground, river fishing, waterside walks and pub-restaurant on site
What a lovely Lincolnshire location this is – dog-friendly Riverview Caravan Park’s location on the banks of the Witham river is a mighty scenic place to spend a bit of time… You’re on holiday, so you’d be quite justified in deciding to settle down right there by the river for lengthy periods in the company of a book and/or picnic. Keep that view in sight by heading out for a waterside walk or launching your own paddleboard or kayak from the boat jetty too. Keen to go fishing? The site has one mile of fishing along the river Witham, all set just 20 metres from the pitches. The on-site fishing is known for tench, carp and big bream weighing up to seven kilograms, as well as its fortnightly competitions. A modern gym is on-hand for those times when you feel like fitting in a good workout. For families, there’s a playground as well as an indoor pool (open during high season only) where they can play about whatever the weather. If they (or you) are plane fans, they may like to know that RAF Conningsby is a short distance away with a World War II museum. Fighter jets and the occasional Lancaster fly overhead, so it can get a bit noisy (especially during the week) but settle down for your own personal air show and enjoy the sights. When it comes to food, the on-site pub and restaurant is likely to be your go-to. Serving up homecooked food, it has a beer garden overlooking the river along with local entertainment such as singers, bingo and karaoke. On Saturdays and Sundays, it serves a full English breakfast, and on Sundays, there is a Sunday roast up for grabs. It also has a kids' menu. For out-and-about times, local town Tattershall is less than 10 minutes away by car and Lincoln city centre around 35 minutes.

Camping pod

Liked Phil is working hard to renovate and renew facilities, including the ablution blocks, waste disposal point and dishwashing area. The pod we stayed in was great. I loved having a big fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave, although I'd have liked better chairs on the decking and an outdoor table. Food in the onsite pub was standard pub grub but very good value, as were the drinks from the bar. Phil was super friendly and cared about his guests. The site is in a beautiful area, right on the banks of the River Witham. Once Phil has achieved his objectives, it will be a spectacular place to stay. He is hugely experienced and is working as fast as he can to get things to a standard he's happy with. It's also absolutely fantastic for aviation enthusiasts, right next to RAF Coningsby.

Disliked This is tough to write but has to be said. The site states that there should be no noise after 10:30pm, out of respect for other residents. This simply didn't happen. One family who arrived on the Friday, taking up residence in the Pageant caravan beside the new fencing, had no care for anybody other than themselves. Their young children were screaming, shouting and running round the campsite at 11:45. These were the same children I spoke to during the day about throwing around planks of wood and bricks, close to where work is being carried out. This sort of thing ruins both the site and the peace for other holidaymakers. Showers also need attention...and quickly. The heavy glass door on one was dangerously askew, so I gently took it off and stacked it against the wall. It isn't the sort of thing which can be left unattended, unfortunately. That, I can deal with. The only thing that actually spoiled our experience was the behaviour of one family. I'd come back for another visit if I could be sure the rules were respected by all, for the enjoyment of all.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Touring pitches were clean and well looked after. Liked that you could help yourself to wooden table/chairs. Very family owed couldn’t do enough to make your stay happy and content. Very clean toilets and shower. Loved the walk along the river. The pub onsite wasn’t too expensive, and great to have with an outside playground. Will definitely go back again.

Disliked I know he is in the middle of building a better waste water facility but a hole in the ground atm is what you get. Better washing up facilities would be nice also. Only 1 shower working.
Heated pool would be brilliant, however I knew this and we all took wetsuits which worked perfectly.

From the manager: Hi thank you so much for a lovely review
We take them very seriously

Thank you for your comments as we strive to improve our guests stay over the last month's the touring field has had a news access road plus 18 new hard standing pitches .

The wast disposal hole in the ground your words . Is not just a hole
It's connected to the main collection .

If fact the new wasted disposal was up and running on Friday yes the sinks for the wash up is in place and will be connected up to water early this week . Plus a 6 foot surround enclosing the wash up . Will be finished this week

Re the pool fingers crossed now the cost of beer pumps have come down and running cost the pool to be heated very soon

So happy you enjoyed your stay looking forward to seeing you very soon and with the ongoing improvements will earn a 10 star

Thank
Phil

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Pitch and overall area: we arrived early and were allowed on site.
Pitch was spot on with full EHU/water. The staff and owner Phil were friendly and helpful, gave us a tour, explained how everything worked and where everything was, shop, bar, toilets& showers etc and came around to check we were settled.
Phil the owner was happy to accept our friends to our pitch for a visit, then said they could stay the night if they wanted.. very hospitable.
Phil is trying very hard to renovate and doing a fab job considering he’s only been the owner for around 12/18 months.

Pub on site with evening entertainment, however we were too busy to go to the pub.

Location: on the riverside, so we took the kayak and paddle board out, easy area to launch. Great fun.

All other campers were very friendly and their dogs were well behaved.
Will be going back to see the improvements.
Finally and not an issue for us, no WiFi due to Coningsby Airbase being so close - great for plane watching though.

Disliked We didn’t dislike anything and appreciate there was work going on. Hence the 8/10 stars - Bathrooms were clean, but dated and showers need a little attention, however I’m sure Phil will bring the site up to 10/10 once renovations are completed.

Camping pod

Liked Pods are very well equipped with a bed, fridge, toaster and kettle so are excellent value for money. Continuous improvements are being made to the site which adds to its appeal and the addition of a tarmac road in the caravan and pod field makes parking much easier.

The WiFi signal seemed to have vastly improved since my previous visit last year as I was able to get it in and around the pod but not sure if that’s specific to the site itself now or the local area.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay again and would recommend to friends and family with the added bonus for me being the proximity to the nearby RAF base as you’re able to watch the fast jets taking off and landing though there wasn’t as much activity during my stay.

Disliked Very minor issue, a darker curtain would be better in the pods near the end due to the bright lighting outside.

Access to one of the water taps was a little difficult once the hard standing had a caravan on it as it felt a bit intrusive to the occupier having to go right behind it to fill a water container.

Local attractions

Having viewed your own bit of the river, it’s likely that you’ll be enticed into getting out for a walk – especially when you learn that there are a couple of riverside pubs nearby. There’s more strolling to be done in Tattershall Lakes Country Park (five minutes’ drive), plus the chance to get a bit of watery activity at Just Wake wakeboarding centre. Take off to Tattershall (around 10 minutes’ drive) for a wander around Tattershall Castle – a proper textbook castle with a moat and 15th-century tower to potter around. Just outside town is Tattershall Farm Park (15 minutes), where egg collecting, sheep shearing and hanging out with hairy Highland cows are likely to meet with approval from tiddlers (and quite probably their elders too…). A day out in Lincoln (35 minutes) must surely be on the list – it’s got a real slice of history, being home to one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta. You’ll likely feel like you’ve stepped back in time if you catch a film at Kinema in the Woods (15 minutes) too: the flicks have been running since 1922 here, and there’s still a resident organist to provide the tunes.
