  • Rural Bedfordshire campsite with 100 acres of parkland
  • Golf and horse riding 20 minutes’ drive; Santa Pod Raceway 35 minutes
  • Lakeside café, bar and restaurant; free hot showers in the clubhouse
Set in 100 acres of landscaped parkland, the pitches at Box End Park campsite await sporty families for a few days of fun on two purpose-built water-sports lakes, filled with natural spring water. No worries though if you’d simply prefer to relax lakeside and enjoy the peaceful rural Bedfordshire setting. Activities to be booked separately and enjoyed on site include a giant floating aqua park, open-water swimming, paddleboarding, cable kneeboarding and cable wakeboarding. Out of the water, you can try frisbee and football golf, or the lakeside running-and-nature trail. Just take note that most of these activities are seasonal and do not run every day. All the pitches are on flat, well-drained grassland, and the site has facilities including a basic toilet block with washing-up sinks. Free hot showers are located in the main clubhouse and are shared with the water-sports facilities. When you need to refuel, there’s a bar, restaurant and café offering a range of catering throughout the week (the café is closed in winter and the restaurant on Mondays). Barbecues are permitted off the ground at the pitches, but no campfires please. This is a quiet family site with a strict no-noise policy after 10.30pm, so perhaps it’s not the place for you if you’re after a wild nightlife – having said that, the historic market town of Bedford is only 15 minutes’ drive away, with its healthy helping of pubs and restaurants.

From the manager: Hi Thomas, Thank you so much for your review and it was a pleasure having you stay here with us. We're so happy to hear you loved the setting and the pitches. We really appreciate all your feedback and take this on-board. Please kindly note that our reception team did speak to you over the phone the evening before your arrival and explained that due to our Reception being closed on the Monday they would help arrange your stay as an 'out of hours check-in'. To follow up this phone-call the team then emailed you the same evening confirming all arrival details required for the following day allowing you to self check-in for your stay incl. campsite pitch number, map, facilities information and collecting/connecting your pre-arranged electric card. The following message was also highlighted in the email "Kindly note if you are planning to use our Corner 5 Restaurant & Bar facilities, please do make sure to check their opening hours via our website before your arrival. Our Restaurant & Bar opening hours vary throughout the year, as do our outdoors activities". We also made sure you were allocated the closest pitch to toilet block as per your booking request, to make it as easy as possible for you once pitched up on-site. One of our team members who happened to be on-site at the time of your arrival also helped you collect your electric card whilst passing by reception and also helped refund your £5 deposit back to you when you handed your electric card back to them the following day just as you were about to self check-out. We do hope this helps to address your concerns. If you need to get in touch with our team directly please feel free to send us an email at info@boxendpark.com where the team are always more than happy to help. Many thanks, the Box End Park team

Would stay here again, the lake provided impressive wake boarders.

Liked: Watching wake bording

Disliked: *Busy on site road. We got told the road on site wont be used on a night yet cars went past fast againt our caravan all night and day. Really worried for my 2 year old as they would go past so fast. *water fill up had no hose so filling your things up the water would go all over. *Very high class restaurant with a very expensive bar. 100% not caravan restaurant/bar. Dog friendly site yet you can't take your dog in the restaurant/pub and you are not allowed to leave them in your van. *£8 for a sandwich in the restaurant and £15 for 2 half paints and 3 fruit shoots! *Nothing at all for the little ones to do. Was advertising the golf for children but it want even built when we arrived. *£10 for electricity we only used £4 but didn't get the rest back like promised. *Advertised at barefoot area yet covered in poo. *Grass cutter man was up at 7am cutting around the van. *States no groups yet we had a group near us and they talked loudly all night. *WiFi and phone signal rubbish. Never left a bad review on a camp site but this one was not worth the £70!! I paid in April for 2 nights.

From the manager: Hi, we are sorry you didn't have an amazing time with us during your stay. It's a shame you didn't mention anything to the many staff on hand during your visit. A few bits of feedback on your comments: We have lots of signage up advertising the sites 10mph speed limit. We will look at adding more signs - it's frustrating if other guests don't follow these rules We avoid providing hoses on the drinking water taps as it is not safe and hygienic to do so Our restaurant is open to all, however we ask that guests with dogs dine on the decking areas. We have a cafe open at weekends which is great for people who want a cheaper catering option. In terms of activities, we have lots of open grass spaces for football, frisbee and enjoying the outdoors. Our 5K walking trail is always popular with families with younger children, Our watersports are aimed at children from 6 years and older and there is loads to choose from - check out www.boxendpark.com to see what is on offer. We are a lakeside, natural site with beautiful swans and ducks. They can sometimes leave mess on the lake edge, this is natural and soon degrades. Our groundworks team work hard to keep the site looking amazing - they would never start on site before 08:00 and don't cut near caravans at this time. There is 4G phone service across most of the site for most carriers. We have WIFI in the main building for anyone who need it. Hopefully that helps clear up some of your concerns. Many thanks the Box End Park team

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, big pitches, nice lakeside location, cheap

Disliked: Extremely basic facilities even for price - water barely hot enough to wash up, five shower cubicles for the whole site (2 male, 2 female plus an extra one thats open out of hours) - i have no idea how they will cope during peak time. Toilets by the pitches was a pair of run down portaloos which was rarely cleaned. Restaurant/bar was not dog friendly, despite what a misleading answer (by someone not affiliates with the site) on Google maps suggests. Probably would not return.

From the manager: Hello Tommy, Thank you so much for your stay and sharing your campsite review with us. We're so happy to hear that you found our staff friendly, lakeside pitches nice and spacious for the price. We have fed back all of your comments to our management team who will be able to look into the points raised further, so thank you for raising this with us after your stay. We are a dog friendly site however, the Corner 5 Restaurant & Bar do only offer an outside decked areas where you are able to sit with dogs and enjoy our lakeside setting. Kindly note that only guide dogs are allowed into the restaurant/bar area. We are sorry to hear that you may have come across an anonymous google review advising otherwise and will look into this as we work closely to monitor google reviews to provide correct information that matches our website. We appreciate the campsite toilet block is due an upgrade which will be taking place over this winter.
