What customers say
Guests love the open spaces and choice of pitches. River access is a plus. Facilities are clean and adequate, if basic. Staff are friendly. Some note distance to facilities, noise from campers/traffic. It's a large, natural site.

Nice place but could do with more facilities
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Nice size fields
Not to busy
Easy access to the river
Disliked Lack of water points and toilets having to either walk quite far or to drive to use the facilities
Check in/ out Times make no sense for tents
These type of times are what i would expect for static caravans for turn over cleaning

Lovely stay definitely will be back soon !
Primitive grass campsite
Liked love how spacious the campsite is there is shop onsite which was so helpful for ice in this heat! . You can literally find your own spot away from everyone and at times your own field !. The phone service is very much touch and go in all fields, but you should be one with nature and not glued to that phone anyway !🤣everyone minds their own business a very chilled atmosphere. There was a bin in our field which was very helpful although, despite this there was still the odd one who left there rubbish on the campsite.
Learned the hard way this is insect biting paradise so ensure you have that bug repellent and you will be all good, came back 2nd time no bites !!! .
When we were leaving there was a food truck being set up, so definitely going to try that next time ! 😀.
Disliked This was our second time staying here, so we already had a good idea of the campsite. One suggestion would be to add signs at the entrance and exit of each field showing the field name or number. Although you receive a map on arrival, it can be difficult for first-time visitors to work out which field they’re in, as the entrances and exits are set within the bushes, making it difficult to match your location with the map.

For the space and the freedom…
Powered grass campsite
Liked For the space and the freedom my children had i would recommend to friends .
Apart from lovely walking areas it didnt have much, but the pub was lovely and the walks down the canel my children liked the lock
Disliked Id recommend to friends without children due to Poor management,
Where do I begin?
Firstly, we got pitched on an ant's nest, and we had an infestation of ants all over and inside the tent, to the point I was bitten. I went to the office and got told they would send maintenance; they never did, so we moved our tent.
Secondly,
Our neighbors were lovely, unfortunately, there was an incident with their 14-year-old daughter where we went to the toilet and she was approached by a man trying to chat her up and follow her into the toilet. The family rang the manager, and she came to the pitch and told the family that her daughter should not have gone to the toilet on her own, bearing in mind the toilet was a 30-second walk away. The following day, I told the cleaner, who told me a few days before the same man was in the female showers trying to watch women shower. Again, she told the manager, but nothing was done.
Surely, as a manager, you have a duty of care to make sure all customers feel safe.
3rdly
This camp site didnt have anything for children,

From the manager: When you came into the office I phoned for maintenance to ask if they had any ant powder or if they needed to buy any, I advised you they would come over once they had finished the job they were doing but did not know how long it would take therefore an alternative pitch was given.
I have since spoken to maintenance and unfortunately the job they had to do took a lot longer than expected.
I do not believe it is appropriate to discuss someone else`s personal details here, however I will say that the family are fully happy with my handling of the situation and are continuing with their extended stay.
I have spoken to the cleaner and your account differs significantly to hers and she did tell you the description you gave did not match the description of the man who had perhaps mistakenly gone into the wrong block.
I can assure you that I take my duty of care very seriously.
When you book on Pitch-up we do not advertise as having any entertainment or play park.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Fully serviced, large pitches.
Toilet & shower block was clean whenever I used it.
Disliked Shower cubicles very small. Only one hook & everything gets wet.
Didn't see a shop, bar or restaurant as advertised on the site.
Sadly blue/green algae prevented use of the river, one of my main reasons for booking 😥

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to leave a review as they do help people when deciding where to stay.
The smaller shower block has space inside for changing and hanging, the larger one only has a hook on the inside and outside of the doors.
The shop is very small and is inside reception where you check-in. The Brewers Fayre restaurant and bar is within a 2 minute walk from the exit barrier where the new Chinese restaurant is due to open shortly.
Unfortunately due to the weather many lakes and rivers have blue/green algae and until there is a lot of rain it is unlikely to clear.
We look forward to your next visit.
It was my first time out solo in my new tent box with my dogs.

Liked I loved how you could just find a spot and set up camp. I was able to take my dogs, and have just a quiet and relaxed evening.

Disliked Ban for grill and fire pit
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to leave a review.
Due to the very hot weather and the grass being like straw we have banned fires and barbeques except for gas barbeques and disposable barbeques raised off the ground as these go out after just over an hour, we still ask that water is kept next to them and not left unattended. This is for everyone's safety as fires spread quickly without warning and on a campsite this would be a disaster. The ban will remain in place until we get enough rain to make it safe again.
There may be other campsites in the area that allow fires for you to go to if this is important during very hot weather with evening and night temperatures still over 20 degrees.
We look forward to seeing you next year, hopefully the summer will not be as extreme as this one.

It is a shame the weather has forced a fire ban, it would be good to get several days of overnight rain.

Liked We loved it at Hop farm, it is basic but the toilets and showers are kept clean. On the whole was a good experience.
Disliked That there wasn’t an onsite shop for the basics at least.

We could sell perishable items when the farm and cafe were open as it had the same owner and if getting close to sell by date they could be used immediately. We stock items such as teabags, coffee ,UHT milk, tent pegs, mallets, tooth paste/brushes etc fresh items if not sold would have to be binned if not sold.
We hope to see you again soon.
