What customers say
Guests love the open spaces and choice of pitches. River access is a plus. Facilities are clean and adequate, if basic. Staff are friendly. Some note distance to facilities, noise from campers/traffic. It's a large, natural site.

We return to this campground again…
Primitive grass campsite
Liked We return to this campground again and again. We absolutely love it. There are several fields so it never feels crowded, you can spread out and not feel on top of the next pitch. You can pick blackberries and sloe berries as seasonal. There are trees around the edges for options to pitch in partial shade. There are beautiful trails to walk or bike ride alongside the river.
The toilets are always very clean and stocked. The showers are private and clean.
The site managers Sue and Ian are super helpful for anything you need help with. There's a small shop on site for basics and there's also a good sized Co-op tied to the petrol station just down the road for all of the things you may have forgotten or need to restock on. Every other weekend in summer there's a boot fair walking distance from your pitch, but not loud or disruptive.
Best of all, the river runs through the campsite and there are multiple spots with rope swings over the water for the kids to safely play. You can bring your kayaks or paddle boards with easy access with steps too.
It's simply a fantastic site, for tents or caravans, that pleases everyone. Our kids range in age from 5-19 and they all love this site.
Disliked There aren't a lot of electric pitches, it could do with more but I think this is in the works.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Really lovely place to camp and being so near to the river was so much fun we was able to swim with the dogs also you ate able to go up the river with a boat or paddle board

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and that you enjoyed yourselves.
There is now blue/green algae in the river which can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea and potentially life threatening to dogs, therefore we are advising not to go in the river until there is a substantial amount of rain to clear it.
We look forward to welcoming you again.

Great weekend.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Well organised, lots of space, regular cleaning of facilities/ bins emptied. Proactive managers out and about on site.
Central location for the area. Although the shop is small, local town is a 5 min drive, large supermarket about 15m drive.
Really like the fact that although it is a huge area the number of pitches is set. In the past it was a 'pack as many as possible' which put pressure on the facilities.
Disliked Not the campsites fault... the lack of camping etiquette from some users. People who don't put their rubbish in bins, leave wash up sinks full of their food debris, leave sinks or toilets in a state.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Loved the spacious field for non electric. Perfect location for paddleboarding. Would come back for the location but need to bring rubber gloves with me to be able to use toilets and showers
Disliked Toilets and showers both female and male were gross! Definitely need cleaning for often. Most morning the toilets were covered in poo! Not ideal at all. People definitely need to be more considerate

The toilets and showers have regular cleans, however in-between cleans the facilities can become messy, we do ask guests to tidy up after themselves unfortunately not everyone does this.
We look forward to seeing you again.
Good basic stay, enjoyed by all
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Large and spacious
Nice areas to walk
Nice atmosphere
Many toilets and showers available
Easy to check in
Disliked Poor signage for exiting
Staff rude in shop when buying many ice creams - said children were too noisy when customers were checking in. If this is the case then have a separate shop and check in station.
Showers in old block were cold on saturday night
Need to alert customers to fact that pub on site is closing down and aren’t serving food anymore

I asked politely if the children could be quieter as it is a very small shop/office and the man was checking someone in trying to give important information to keep everyone staying on site safe and the guest checking in could not hear him, the extra information we have to give is
1) A fire ban, what can and can`t be used due to the extreme dry ground conditions. Fires spread quickly and this would put guests lives at risk.
2) Blue/green algae in the river which can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea and potentially life threatening to dogs.
All Brewers Fayres are closing, the one here may be closing in September and they are still serving food, however they may have reduced opening times due to staff shortages. There is a new Chinese restaurant due to open shortly right next to the exit barrier.
We were not made aware of the one male block not having any hot water until the Sunday morning, I did put a sign up on the door saying the ones next to them had hot water. We are hoping the boiler will be fixed by tomorrow Tuesday.
We look forward to your next visit.
Nice place but could do with more facilities
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Nice size fields
Not to busy
Easy access to the river
Disliked Lack of water points and toilets having to either walk quite far or to drive to use the facilities
Check in/ out Times make no sense for tents
These type of times are what i would expect for static caravans for turn over cleaning
Check in time of 14:00- 21:00
Check out time of 11am

There are 6 water points for non-electric pitches but none in the outer fields. The non-electric pitches are unmarked and guests choose where to stay once they have checked-in.
The check-in and check-out times are the same as other campsites with a few campsites having check-in times between 1400-1900. Please ask if you would like an earlier check-in time as this is something we can offer on non-electric.
We hope to see you again soon.

Liked De staanplaats was goed, mooi uitzicht
Disliked Vies sanitair, wc brillen zitten los, slecht onderhoud. Geen camper service, en geen wasmachines. Dat viel helaas tegen. Ook geen WiFi
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: The sanitary facilities are collected and replaced every Wednesday. Any issues including loose toilet seats are either reported by the cleaners or guests staying on site and maintenance either fix or replace immediately.
The campsite does not advertise as having any washing machines or WiFi therefore guests are aware of this before booking if they read facilities available on Pitch-up.
Perhaps you will visit again to enjoy the country and river walks with your dog if visiting the UK again.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Plenty of space, easy access to the river from our pitch. Perfect for kayaking and wild swimming.
There are lots of fields to choose from, the very end one is lovely but for us with 4 young children it was too far from the toilets. Next time no children 🤔 or portable toilet....
The shower block and toilets were very clean.

Lovely stay definitely will be back soon !
Primitive grass campsite
Liked love how spacious the campsite is there is shop onsite which was so helpful for ice in this heat! . You can literally find your own spot away from everyone and at times your own field !. The phone service is very much touch and go in all fields, but you should be one with nature and not glued to that phone anyway !🤣everyone minds their own business a very chilled atmosphere. There was a bin in our field which was very helpful although, despite this there was still the odd one who left there rubbish on the campsite.
Learned the hard way this is insect biting paradise so ensure you have that bug repellent and you will be all good, came back 2nd time no bites !!! .
When we were leaving there was a food truck being set up, so definitely going to try that next time ! 😀.
Disliked This was our second time staying here, so we already had a good idea of the campsite. One suggestion would be to add signs at the entrance and exit of each field showing the field name or number. Although you receive a map on arrival, it can be difficult for first-time visitors to work out which field they’re in, as the entrances and exits are set within the bushes, making it difficult to match your location with the map.
