What customers say
This spacious campground offers plenty of room and freedom, with many fields, including riverside sites. Guests praise the clean restrooms/showers, friendly staff, and the river's watersport potential. Some found electric sites crowded and noted occasional noise or cleanliness issues, but the overall experience is very positive, with many repeat visitors. Great location for exploring.

We wouldn’t return, but you could see some loved it
Primitive grass campsite
Liked It’s great that you can camp up anywhere within the fields
It was quiet after 10pm
You are left alone to do as you please.
Disliked The camping fields are huge, however you have to be mindful that there are sporadic taps for water and all the bins are by the entrance
.
The toilet and shower block is also here so beware it’s a long walk if you choose a pitch further away and don’t have your own loo.
Waste disposal is also here.
The site feels unmonitored, vehicles drive around at high speed and three times we saw children riding around on top of van roofs, hanging onto the back of vehicles on their bikes and motorbikes zooming around the fields.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us over the weekend of the 26th June.
Two additional fields have bins, the rest are by the washing-up sinks. I have asked management if bins can be put in a couple of other fields on a Saturday morning during peak season.
I was out on-site quite a bit during the day Friday and Saturday dealing with guests who had no respect for either the campsite or other guests staying, this can be shown by the bad reviews submitted by the ones who had been asked several times to adhere to the campsite rules and to be considerate of everyone staying. We also do a patrol of the site at 10pm.
Hopefully your can visit during a quieter time as the campsite is very different then.
really great stop over on our river trip, thank you
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Nice and clean toilets and showers, acres of camping space, lovely and helpful people at reception.
Disliked slippery access to the river, would be nice to have a decent pontoon on each of the fields if possible. long long walk to the WC block

Apologies if we forgot to point out Oak Weir which is perfect for getting in and out of the river.
Depending on where you are pitching the facilities can be a long walk.
We look forward to your next visit.
Ok
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Ample amount of space
Disliked Lack of hot water to wash the dishes. There is only one point to obtain water and there was no hot water at 9pm to shower. The showers were also quite dirty at 9/10pm
Friendly staff

We were not notified of there being no hot water or this would have been rectified.
The last clean of the facilities is at 6pm and the first clean is at 5am. We do ask guests to tidy up after themselves, it would appear not everyone does this.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Love the hop farm for its location on the river
Clean facilities
Good location
Beautiful scenery
The reception had ice, cold water and ice lollies which was much needed during our trip
The gravel bridge path/road had been re done so this was great for my car
The seafood stand is a must!
The bootfair is usually good although its not free for campers anymore.
Disliked A water tap in the further fields would be great.
There seemed to be less access to the river and everyone crowding around trying to get in the river or fish, which led to people setting there chairs up at one of the only free access points.
The paddleboard company charging a launch fee should be told before booking or at check in at least.
We love the hop farm but feel that it was lacking on our recent visit. The river was hard to get to with our paddleboard & kayak as the fences and muddy overgrowth made it difficult.
The fact that the prices have stayed the same but there are now no porta loos or pic nic benches and the only real accessible way to the river you now charge.

Will never go there again
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Have always enjoyed staying at the hop farm until my last visit
Disliked Rude staff
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: We have become more proactive in guests who do not adhere to the campsite rules of dogs must be on a lead at all times, speed limit of 5 MPH, no music or noise after 10pm and to be respectful of other guests at all times. We want all guests to enjoy their stay and feel safe and secure. Quite a few guests only need to be asked politely once before adhering to these rules others do not therefore being more firm after asking several times may appear rude to some people, I can only presume you were one of these.
Site is dated, could do with updating, was fine for a short break.

Liked The overall size of the camp site, lovely walks along the River, dog friendly.
Disliked Electrical Hook Up , depends which plot your allocated , the ones in the middle are very close together.
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and that you enjoyed yourselves.
The electric hook ups are very close together there is much more space in the non-electric fields for those who do not need electric or have solar panels/power packs.
We look forward to seeing you again.
