  • Family site two miles from Barmouth
  • Sea views on site; short walk from Talybont station
  • Access to facilities of sister site including swimming pool
Settle in for sea views from several corners of the site at Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in Gwynedd, in the seaside village of Tal-y-Bont and a couple of miles from the beaut beach at Barmouth. Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

What customers say

This campsite boasts a prime location within a short walk of the beach and local amenities, with spectacular sea and mountain views. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and spacious pitches. Pods are noted as a comfortable and convenient option. While many highlight the excellent value for money and family-friendly atmosphere, some reviews mention dated facilities and occasional noise from other campers, particularly during peak times. Overall, a highly recommended destination for a coastal getaway.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked Good-sized campsite, perfect for families. (We travelled with two children.)
The beautiful beach is only a 5-minute walk away.

There are free showers, toilets, and drinking water.
You only have to pay if you want to use the hair dryer.

Well maintained, clean pods and space around it.
This was our third stay here, an we'll definitely be back.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked The pitches were more or less all electric and mostly flat. The station is right next to the camp and trains into barmouth to save on parking . You can use the sunny sands pool and facilities. A great pub. Ysething inn 10 min walk with good food and seating by the river. Beach and cafe 10 min walk . Another resteraunt 5 mins walk nineteen 57 on the next site is worth a visit. Harlech Castle. Slate mine . Fairbourne railway . Boat trips to see the dolphins. Hill walks and flat river walks all within 30 mins drive or train.

Disliked Only one ( outdoor) dish washing sink
Toilets are basic and not well set out for campers. No shelves for wash bags . Sinks close together. Lack of hooks . They are clean but not designed by someone who camps but ok.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Sea and mountain views, a 10 minute walk from Talybont beach. Great location and beautiful views from the site. Pitches were nice and big and lots of open space for the kids to run around and kick a small ball around without disturbing other visitors or being near cars and caravans. Would return mainly for proximity to the lovely beach and a nice site for the price we paid!

Disliked Shower facilities poor. Very dirty so wasn't a pleasant experience. It's difficult being near the beach as it was mostly sand, but they aren't cleaned regularly enough and the shower head doesn't come off to allow you to wash away the dirt on the floor. Push button showers that last 10 seconds which was a challenge trying to show myself and 2 children.
Camping pod outside lights are on all through the night and are blinding when you're sat out at night with them shining directly at the caravans.
No WiFi and signal is very poor.

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
