  • Family site two miles from Barmouth
  • Sea views on site; short walk from Talybont station
  • Access to facilities of sister site including swimming pool
Settle in for sea views from several corners of the site at Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in Gwynedd, in the seaside village of Tal-y-Bont and a couple of miles from the beaut beach at Barmouth. Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

What customers say

Great spot near the beach, shops, and train. Staff are friendly, facilities are clean, and pitches are spacious with nice views. Some minor issues with washroom cleanliness and noise at peak times. Pods are good but a bit worn.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked The location as always never fails to impress view lovely from the pods

Disliked After visiting this site with my family for over 10 years. This year has left us unlikely to return, it’s just run down toilet block needs massive upgrades, not cleaned as much as previous years where I would often seen a cleaner in and out. No cope in hand dispenser toilet roll just dumped on the floor of cubicles. Then toilet roll tubes left all over the floor due to no bin in toilets the shower cubicles where rotting at the bottom. And after booking an extra day via pitch up I was told I needed to move pods and my family who did the same in their tent where told to take down their tent and move it to another pitch . Obviously after a complaint to the manger this was resolved but just seemed very disorganised and stressful. TVs also removed from pods not a problem but was a nice little luxury for the kids in the mornings. Unfortunately after many happy years spent here we will be looking for another site for our mini brake next year.

Liked Location was great, short walk (5 - 10 minutes) to the beach, restaurants, chippy and arcades.

Most pitches will have a sea view.

Disliked We asked to be pitched together, though when we got there we had pitches away from each other, which was slightly disheartening.

There was no receptionist on site for two of the three days we were there.

Toilet blocks and showers there isn’t enough to cater for everyone, and not cleaned regularly, they would be filthy by noon, so get your shower in early morning.

It looks like the site is expanding into a neighbouring field, so there was workman there most days.

There was only one washing up sink on the site, as there was another one that seemed to have been taken out and just dumped upside down near toilet blocks, so most of the time you where queuing to do your pots.

We had no isssues in the night, but our other party members on another pitch experienced other campers getting loud well after 2am, causing them to get out of the tent and speak with them to turn the volume down.

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
