Settle in for sea views from several corners of the site at Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in Gwynedd, in the seaside village of Tal-y-Bont and a couple of miles from the beaut beach at Barmouth. Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

What customers say

Great spot near the beach with sea/mountain views. Friendly staff, clean-ish facilities (some old). Handy for exploring, peaceful, spacious. Noise and basic washing-up were minor downsides.

Powered grass caravan site

Liked Great location, walking distance to the beach and train station (services every 2 hours) to Barmouth. Big pitches, decent power supply. Toilets were ok, some
Portable in high season is understandable

Disliked No on site control at all, fast electric motorbikes and scooters driven by children as young as 6/7 (heads below handlebars), weed common place, very very noisy until 0130am, showers not cleaned often enough, pool is on site next door and has to be booked, clubhouse is 20-30 minutes walk away along beach (no path) although an external one is available. No park on site for kids but adjacent camps seem accessible, staff when we visited were stand ins and didnt know much but were friendly.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked view

Disliked Toilets were disgusting, often with no toilet roll, sick left in them, and no working locks on the doors, just hooks. We were put right next to the toilets with no choice of pitch. Electric scooters and bikes were being ridden around despite being strictly prohibited, and one nearly hit my daughter. My parents' pod was also rotten in places and only had one usable plug socket.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked The site was in an excellent location. Short walk to the beach. Train station next to camp to head into Barmouth. The pitch we were given had gorgeous sea views.

Disliked The Toilet/shower facilities never seemed clean, we used them on multiple occasions and each time they were very dirty. Guests on site allowing children to ride electric scooters around the site at top speed.

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
