However, the temptations are not just limited to the dramatic backdrop of the Lammermuir Hills. Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: A huge static van/lodge park that offers pitches for touring vans and motorhomes.

All have EHU and nearby water. There is a bar, leisure centre and shop offering essentials on site. The bar was busy but service was quick and food ok. Didn’t look at leisure centre.

Disliked: A little noisy but it was a bank holiday weekend and curfews were respected.

Toilet block had 3 showers, one closed, one with no temperature control and one with a door that didn’t lock. Tried the separate shower block on day 2 that was much better.

The only downside is being so close to the coast yet being on the wrong side of the A1 which prevented easy access to the coastal path from the site. Not the site’s fault, but worth knowing.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Nice site close to dunbar and good base for getting around . Showers nice and hot.also liked looking round the static caravans for sale without having to go ask for keys.

Disliked: Waste toilet facility was blocked when I used it not very nice.waste bins overflowing should be emptied moreoften . My biggest gripe though is why advertise as having grass pitches when it's obviously gravel topped with a bit of grass, trying to get pegs in for awning was a nightmare.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (super)

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: First super pitch offered was horrible, unsuitable for our dogs as it had a mesh covering they would catch claws in ( see pic) we asked to change and were asked abruptly "why" no sorry to hear that.
lots of upkeep needed bricks missing from walls by toilet block, door handle missing from back door to toilets looked tatty and run down. No wifi, no explanation despite site description has it ticked, Wont be back.

Liked: Large site

Disliked: Toilets, missing handle on inside of exit to toilet block. The whole block very tired.
The travelling community very established on the site with children running wild.
Dog dirt left on grass areas.
Only WiFi outside reception.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Clean facilities. Lots of bins. Shop on site. Indoor swimming pool. Steam room. Laundry room. Big Belfast sinks for pot washing. Big shower rooms with lovely hot water Very clean site...the staff are always busy. There were quite a few irish travellers staying on site, in fact we were encircled by them, I've never felt safer! Salt of the earth people.

Disliked: Grey and black waste not easy for motorhomes but it's do-able 😄

From the manager: Thank you for your wonderful feedback Hayley! We're delighted that you enjoyed the clean facilities, well-maintained site, and convenient amenities. It's great to hear that the indoor pool, steam room, and large shower rooms added to your experience. Local attractions

You won’t find yourselves thirsting for action at Thurston Manor; there are lots of inspiring places to visit in East Lothian, Berwickshire and beyond. Peer at the puffins and gawk at the gannets at the Scottish Seabird Centre - you can zoom in on the nesting colonies on the islands (including Bass Rock, home to a gobsmacking 150,000 gannets) using the Centre’s interactive live cameras, or zoom off on a boat trip to see them in the flesh/feathers, along with grey seals and dolphins if you’re lucky. For more fresh air fun, there are clifftop walks, castle ruins, picnicking and pony trekking across the grassland, woods and salt marshes at John Muir Country Park in nearby Dunbar. Or you could go for a clamber around Tantallon Castle, a majestic fourteenth century stronghold in a photogenic location atop the cliffs overlooking the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock. Not to mention the magnificent golf courses, fishing, horse riding, yachting and water sports in the surrounding area. Whisky lovers will definitely want to make a pilgrimage to the nearby Glenkinchie Distillery, which has an excellent visitor centre and guided tours as well as tastings (and a discount in the shop is included in the very reasonable entrance fee). Last but not least, the brilliant and bonny city of Edinburgh is only 25 miles away.....
