Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Liked the idea of the campsite with the pool and close to dinbar

Disliked: Was called day before going and asked if could go to there other park in Coldingham as there was not a pitch available at the one I booked Coldingham was a nice site quiet and peaceful but had no pool and further away from dunbar and as I would be using public transport was to awkward to get to dunbar

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Entertainment facilities. Site clean and well maintained.

Disliked: Electric hook up power supply is pretty poor and most of the time used leisure battery. Not great wi-go. Water points sparse between pitches.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Position of pitch next to play park and close to amenities. Pitch was a good size, park was clean and well maintained. Food was good and well priced in restaurants and good entertainment for the children.

Disliked: Very loud neighbours, arguing until 3.00am, out on the grass of our pitch next to my children’s window screaming at each other and their children. Lots of machines out of order in the arcade, there was a few machines that were meant to be working, we put coins in and nothing happened, unable to find staff to report or get my children’s money back, same thing happened with the air hockey table again unable to find a staff member to help. Left very disappointed children.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The swimming pool was great for the kids. Dogs were allowed in one of the bars which was extremely helpful when the weather wasn’t particularly kind. We didn’t manage the entertainment but it looked like it was well attended and would have struggled to get a seat if we chose to go, which I took as a positive as obviously very good .

Disliked: Toilets could do with slight modernisation. We were on a pitch next to the play park , which was helpful for the kids , however our access was at times difficult due to a strange decision to have an extra central pitch in a tight area which seemed to have always been allocated to a motor home. Therefore if we needed to get out our space in an emergency overnight we would have to have chapped another caravan owners door to move their car to get out.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Great site in a good location to visit the area and also easy transport links to Edinburgh. Facilities clean. Entertainment complex a nice size so you are not in top of each other, we had takeaway pizza which was reasonably prized and we loved the bar had doggy beer and snacks 🥰🐾🍺

Disliked: Not the sites fault but the previous pitch occupiers where smokers and had emptied their ash tray over the grass of our pitch. The shop on site (Nisa Local) is very expensive so if you need supplies I would go the couple miles down the road to the ASDA

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely clean site, easy to get around, water taps handy. Shower block was clean, lots of hot water. Nice restaurant and bar close to touring pitches. Highly recommend the kids club activities, full of energy.

Disliked: Having to pay extra for swim, felt this should be included. Steps/slope down to waste water disposal was difficult with full tank. Toilet block not that clean but did put this down to fact that it was school holidays and lots of kids around.

Local attractions

You won’t find yourselves thirsting for action at Thurston Manor; there are lots of inspiring places to visit in East Lothian, Berwickshire and beyond. Peer at the puffins and gawk at the gannets at the Scottish Seabird Centre - you can zoom in on the nesting colonies on the islands (including Bass Rock, home to a gobsmacking 150,000 gannets) using the Centre’s interactive live cameras, or zoom off on a boat trip to see them in the flesh/feathers, along with grey seals and dolphins if you’re lucky. For more fresh air fun, there are clifftop walks, castle ruins, picnicking and pony trekking across the grassland, woods and salt marshes at John Muir Country Park in nearby Dunbar. Or you could go for a clamber around Tantallon Castle, a majestic fourteenth century stronghold in a photogenic location atop the cliffs overlooking the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock. Not to mention the magnificent golf courses, fishing, horse riding, yachting and water sports in the surrounding area. Whisky lovers will definitely want to make a pilgrimage to the nearby Glenkinchie Distillery, which has an excellent visitor centre and guided tours as well as tastings (and a discount in the shop is included in the very reasonable entrance fee). Last but not least, the brilliant and bonny city of Edinburgh is only 25 miles away.....
