Dog-friendly, no-frills camping with river views and grazing sheep

South Ford Farm Camping is a small, family-run site in north Devon, set peacefully alongside a river. Here you can get far, far away from the rat race to watch sheep grazing in the fields, paddle in the river and enjoy the sunset along with your evening barbecue (available to hire on site; wood and firepits also available). On clear nights, just lie back and watch the Milky Way twinkling far above. Watersports enthusiasts, this is a great base for you. The farm is a 50-minute drive from some of Devon’s most popular surfing beaches, including Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe. You can explore the wild moorland of Exmoor National Park on foot, horseback or bike, and if the weather’s not co-operating for you, treat the kids to the indoor pool and climbing wall in South Molton, or give beekeeping a go at Quince Honey Farm. A 10-minute drive away, South Molton is your nearest town. Here you can pick up bits in the supermarket or root around artisan food stalls at the Pannier Market (every Thursday and Saturday). For big shopping trips (and restaurants serving all kinds of food) Barnstaple (25 minutes) is your best bet. This is a laidback, simple site with a handful of amenities, including a shower block, washing-up station and recycling facilities. Dogs are welcome, but please, not at pitches by the river.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.
No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Liked: We had an absolutely brilliant escape at this wonderful campsite! Nestled in the lush green countryside, the site is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and the perfect place to unwind. The facilities were first-rate; spotless, well-equipped, and clearly cared for with pride.

The owner was a delight — warm, welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. It really made the stay feel personal and relaxed.

We can’t recommend this place highly enough. Whether you’re after a quiet retreat or just a change of scenery, this campsite is a gem. Thoroughly recommended!

Liked: Beautiful setting, small and friendly site perfect for our young family, great facilities and a lovely park area for children.
This is our second year coming to the campsite and we will be back again, our children loved seeing the lambs being fed in the field next door, the new facilities are brilliant, having a fridge to store some milk etc was perfect and the extra toilets and shower were really handy.

The site is always beautifully clean and well kept, each pitch is well spaced and with plenty of room for your tent and all your camping equipment.

The option to hire a fire pit and buy wood is also a nice touch, especially with children who like to roast some marshmallows.

I would highly recommend this site to anyone who likes a small, friendly and close to nature experience.

Liked: Tidy, intimate site, lovely little park and 'beach' at the stream, great for kids, we got to watch the lambs being fed, clean toilets and shower, a gazebo with games for if it rains, friendly and attentive owner who met us at the gate and checked on us during our stay.

Disliked: Nothing, it really was a lovely little site!

Liked: Campsite was peaceful and spacious

Hosts were brilliant - really warm and friendly and went out of their way to check everything was ok and ensure a lovely stay.

Facilities were clean and worked well - never an issue with hot water!!

Well maintained sight, lovely big pitches and creatively divided space with so much greenery and additional open space.

Small children’s play area and access to the river - everything felt well cared for.

Really reasonable price.

We had the bonus of lambs in the adjoining field, which the hosts were bottle feeding twice a day, and encouraged the children to join in with. For our 4 and 6 year old this was such an enjoyable extra!

We were staying to attend a wedding and had everything we needed, but the host offered use of their own home if we wanted a bit more space or electric to get ready.

Liked: The hosts of the campsite were absolutely fantastic! What they have created here is beyond stunning! They were both so friendly and helpful! I honestly think they would of done our washing up after the bbq if we asked them! 😉😂, plenty to keep the kids entertained on the campsite, huge field next to the campsite for the pooch to roam free! I will certainly be bringing the extended family here before the end of the summer! Thanks guys!!

Liked: Everything. Owner was very helpful and campsite was lovely and well maintained. We are already planning our next trip and looking at staying longer. Kids didnt want to leave was entertained by the park and football net the whole stay.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.
There is no reception at this site. Please check in at the gate instead.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 3 day(s) of arrival.
