  • Family park one mile from Dawlish Warren beach
  • A 35-minute drive from Torquay; pubs within walking distance
  • Indoor swimming pool, adventure playground, soft play, gym and sauna
Staying just a mile away from Dawlish Warren beach sounds pretty neat, doesn't it? Lady’s Mile Holiday has a splendid location on the Devon coast, and what's more, it also has a reel of very tempting facilities… For one, there is a splendid indoor swimming pool for a morning of backstroke or splashing around. During high season, an additional outdoor swimming pool opens up for open-air dips (as long as the weather is good enough). After a nice swim, guests can stay well-fed and well-watered at the on-site restaurant and bar. There are plenty of ways to keep the kids entertained around the park too, from an adventure playground and soft play to the evening entertainment that takes place from March to November. There's a gym on site if you fancy keeping up your workout streak. Otherwise, you're very welcome to laze by the pool or in the sauna instead. For quick dinners, the site has a takeaway. As for other facilities, there are also showers and bathrooms, including a parent and baby washroom. Looking for local eats? There are pubs within a mile's wander of the site, which might prove to be the motivation you need to get off the oh-so-splendid grounds...

What customers say

This campsite offers spacious, clean pitches and generally well-maintained facilities, with particularly good reviews for the pools and friendly staff. While many guests enjoyed the extensive entertainment and on-site amenities, some noted dated showers and occasional issues with Wi-Fi. The location near Dawlish Warren is a significant draw, though some find the site hilly. A few visitors mentioned noise or overcrowding during peak times.

Liked Loved the entertainment, the rockstar guys work there socks off and always give it 100%
Loved the outch sizes and that you could pick where you wanted to be. Facilities were lovely and clean, pools were a lovely temp. Overall we had a lovely time here.
Dan was my kids favourite he was super good with my boy who's got learning disabilities.

Disliked The club house on some nights was really cold. I understand that the stage has to be cool for the rockstars, but it did get quite chilly at times.
The entertainment was amazing just the mics were very echoey and sometimes you couldnt hear what they was singing.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The reception staff and Rhyan were lovely, and so was the pools.

Disliked My biggest complaint isn't the actual place itself, it's the clientele! First night, I was verbally assaulted, just for quietly cutting through the hedge opening to go to the toilet at night. The language was appalling in front of my 11-year-old son. Second night, my kids were playing tag with some other kids they'd met (9.45pm), only to be screamed at, called the C word, and told they should be in bed! They're on their holidays, not glued to a screen, doing what kids should be doing on holiday. There was a gang fight which resulted in armed police being called, the list goes on. In the end we paid an additional £400 to upgrade from camping to a caravan to get away from where we were. Granted it's not the site's fault, but nevertheless, it gave us the worst holiday we've ever had.

As for the food, don't bother. We spent over £80 on our first night to get chicken that could literally bounce off the floor, it was so rubbery. My kids even saw the kitchen staff eating food from customers' plates. That in itself is a major food hygiene concern. Then there's the 50-minute rule in the pool. You can't even book until the day itself, and if you're not online the moment bookings open at 9.30am, you can miss your preferred time slot altogether. You pay a lot of money for these holidays, and 50 minutes simply isn't enough.

I also think holiday parks need to be far more understanding when it comes to prescribed medication. I have a legally prescribed medical cannabis vape, which produces little to no smell. After someone complained, security arrived as though I'd committed a serious offence. I was then told it would be "preferred" if I took my medication off-site. In the end, I had to buy a toilet tent, set it up beside our caravan, and hide away every time I needed my medication.

That is not how anyone should be made to take legally prescribed medicine while on holiday. No one should feel embarrassed, singled out, or forced into hiding because of a treatment prescribed by their doctor. We came away to relax, grieve (my father died) and make happy memories as a family, but instead we left stressed, upset, and hugely disappointed. Sadly, despite the facilities themselves being good, the overall experience means we won't be returning or recommending this holiday park to others.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Loved the pools and the fact you can pick your own pitch, staff very friendly and helpful and let us change my mum’s caravan pitch to be next to us in our grass pitch. Devon schools finish for summer holidays a week after schools in Oxfordshire so was a little quitter which was nice but it got busy the day we left.

Disliked Seemed to be a site that traveler use to holiday on, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily but ones near us were very loud and their children cycling round the whole site until late at night being very loud even after 11pm even though there are signs for quite after 11pm. Also campers walking past our pitch daily smoking cannabis but security were out and about to stop this. Showers ok and clean but could do with a refurb. Wifi not the best and have to pay for it as mobile signal bad, only managed to pay for wifi with 3 days left due to website to do so on my mobile being glitchy.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the pools, the flexibility of choosing your own pitch, and that our friendly team were able to help your family stay together. It's great to know you had an enjoyable stay overall.

We're sorry to hear you experienced noise from some nearby guests. We ask all guests to respect our quiet hours after 11pm, and our security team patrols the park and responds to any concerns that are reported to them. We also appreciate your comments regarding the shower facilities, Wi-Fi and the website, and these will be passed on to the relevant teams for review.

Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Lady's Mile again soon.

Meadow fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch (super)

Liked The pitches felt very private with the hedges. Loved having the use of the pools too.

Disliked The showers were awful, you have to keep pressing the button to get any flow and even then it trickled out, so any chance of washing hair would have been impossible!!
The pool party was very poor.

Local attractions

Lady’s Mile is a site for the sea and sand fans, as it’s only a mile from two beaches where you can surf, swim, sail or just unwind. Golf, fishing, horse riding and tennis are all nearby, or you could indulge in a spot of culture and wander around the nearby National Trust properties A la Ronde (35 minutes' drive) and Compton Castle (35 minutes). Want something a little more likely to appeal to the kids? Pack them in the car and take them off to Crealy Great Adventure Park (25 minutes), where they can go gaga on the rides or go wild in the indoor jungle. They might also enjoy seeing the famous black swans along the River Dawlish, bumping along on the seafront railway, or just sticking close to the beach resort with its pirate-themed mini golf, go-karting, amusements and rides.
