  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge. For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop and for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Really lovely site. Facilities great with bar, restaurant , fish and chip shop and shop selling everything you need. Lovely walks. Toilet and shower block exceptionally clean at all times.

Disliked Showers were a tad small but useable.

Would be nice to have music in toilet blocks as at other sites.

Would need a car to get around as not on a bus route but if you just wanna kick back and do nothing then ideal.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very nice and clean. Very well maintained.

Disliked I thought that horse riding was on site which pony's were. Unfortunately the weight limit wasn't clear and when I arrived I found that there was a nearby equestrian centre nearby. I booked in for the next day and the young lady on your reception tried her best to get me a taxi. With no taxis available I had to cancel my session. I did really only want this site for the horse riding. There was no entertainment. The pub food was awful. I first chose Chilli but had none second I chose jacket with tuna had no tuna. I ended up with burnt sausages and microwave mash. No cheesecake so I gave up. Also very expensive. My partner had ham egg and chips to be given two thinly sliced pieces of packet ham. The fields were virtually empty and later after we arrived another campervan with tent and transit van came and parked right next to us. That made no sense.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked A lovely site with plenty of space for each pitch. Great area for dog walking and staff are really helpful and friendly. It's lovely and quiet and has a friendly pub on site that sells decent food. There's also a shop, chip shop and swimming pool (£4.50). I had stayed here many years ago and am glad to see it's still the same clean and quiet site. Lawns are regularly maintained and it's close to all the great beaches.

Disliked Additional charge for WiFi but I suppose that's to be expected nowadays

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Toilet and shower blocks where great, on each field and always enough avaliable. Fantastic park and swimming pool. Fantastic walks on and off the site. Would recommend the woodland walk was great by the stream. Shop on site was well stocked and the site is in a great driving location to all we wanted to be close to.

Disliked Music and driving on site not monitored enough the week was fine but by the weekend lots of noise past 10pm. And driving not restricted so we had cars driving past our tent at 1am. Concerning when you know some were drinking on site then driving. Reception could do with printing out on site available times for shop, pool ect and tell you tokens needed for washer etc we were given no info on arrival.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Firstly, the site is really pleasant, peaceful and well kept. Pitches are quite large and certainly there are plenty of facilities close by (toilets, showers, fresh water etc.)
The shop was very well stocked with essentials and many non essential items. Staff are also very friendly and helpful, including the park wardens.
The swimming pool, which was used by my partner was a very positive point.

Disliked As our stay was outside of the peak season (early June) we were disappointed to find that the on site takeaway is only open at weekends and the entertainments bar was also closed for most of our time there. There is a bar and restaurant available until 9pm but if you wanted food otherwise, you have to travel 5 miles to nearby Combe Martin.
The shower cubicles are quite small with very little space to be able to wash and dry/ dress easily, although they were always exceptionally clean.
There did seem to be a general lack of details and signs, with notices on the door to the swimming pool informing us to book at reception, only for them to send us back to the pool. This seemed to be a common theme across the site.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more specis to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
