Stowford Farm Meadows: Hardstanding pitches for caravan or motorhome

General

  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool, riding centre and mini zoo
  • Five camping fields and five spacious amenities blocks

Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch?

Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. You can even get your caravan fitted out or fixed up on site – or pick up another one at the caravan sales: now that’s most certainly de-stressing in style…

Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate camping and caravan fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one.

The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf.

Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site, or take the kids to play at Petorama, Stowford Farm Meadows’ undercover mini zoo. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge.

For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season), a smart coffee lounge with takeaway, and a licensed restaurant with event nights including hog roast and barbecues. For supplies, Stowford Meadows has a licensed well-stocked shop with ATM.

And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Great pitches, plenty of activities for everyone, all covid safe. Excellent facilities and plenty of water and grey waste points as well as chemical waste. A wide range of campers, tourers and motor homes, as well as static lodges and holiday cottages. Great shop, general and camping and the most spectacular beaches you have ever seen, unspoiled and big enough to be quite, even in the buzy season and more importantly, dog friendly.

Totally no internet connection in the whole site even up to reception (wifi or data(we are on sky)) It is a big thing as we cannot even navigate our sat nav, can’t check weather, can’t plan where to go. For 7nights it’s bad. We are first time in the site and took us 1hr to go to woolacombe as we turned right instead of left.
Make sure to bring proper sat nav to avoid this. We have not encountered a site which totally no internet reception.

I was very unhappy that during the first really busy bank holiday, and holiday week, since lockdown lifted, and the weather being a red hot 25 degrees that you could nit enjoy a cool drink outside the bar after 4pm due to staffing issues

Excellent dog exercise areas, large flat pitches and plenty to do on site. Takeaway and pub/restaurant on site were great. The whole place was really clean.

    Disliked:

Riding stables on the campsite do not cater for adults…or at least they don’t during busy times. Wi-fi signal is very poor.
