Stowford Village: Hardstanding pitches for caravan or motorhome

General

  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool, riding centre and mini zoo
  • Five camping fields and five spacious amenities blocks

Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch?

Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Village in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. You can even get your caravan fitted out or fixed up on site – or pick up another one at the caravan sales: now that’s most certainly de-stressing in style…

Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Village falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate camping and caravan fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one.

The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf.

Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site, or take the kids to play at Petorama, Stowford Village’s undercover mini zoo. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge.

For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season), a smart coffee lounge with takeaway, and a licensed restaurant with event nights including hog roast and barbecues. For supplies, Stowford Village has a licensed well-stocked shop with ATM.

And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Outstanding area to visit - Ilfracombe etc.

    Disliked:

Many of the pitches were quite slopey. I had asked for a flat pitch. The slope was too steep on the one we were given. Luckily the site was mostly empty so we were able to select a better one and move, but it could have been a bit disastrous for us.

The site itself and the staff we cannot fault, it is a lovely place to stay, just take your own drinks.

    Disliked:

We have stayed here a few times now and always enjoyed our stay, we always spent the evenings in the bar and on Saturdays they normally had a live singer on. however this time staying the bar prices we way over the top at £5 a pint and over £9 for a glass of wine. This time we did not stay in the bar and we just watched the live singer which to be honest was not very good at all. Normally we would have a good number of drinks at the bar but this time we only had 3 drinks our whole stay.
