  • Quiet back-to-basics site on a working farm in Illogan
  • Golf course, trampoline park and watersports lake within 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes' walk from village pubs and 45 from Portreath beach
A working farm on the edge of a Cornwall village, with easy access to country footpaths and a 45-minute saunter from the beach… the kind of place one could settle in for a lifetime, eh? The folks at Hillcrest Views Campsite certainly think so – the family set up home here over 80 years ago and haven’t budged since. Current owner Amy’s now welcoming guests to share in her tribe’s special spot while making sure it doesn’t lose its peaceful vibe – thus the small site has pleasingly spacious pitches but only basic amenities. Flick through the pics and you’ll note some gorgeous rural views: a fab backdrop for stoking up a barbecue while the kids race about playing games. Admire those views for a bit and you’ll probably think you’re in the middle of nowhere, so it’s pleasing to remember that you’re a mere 10-minute amble from Illogan village and its pub, shops and chippy (plus a pasty shop, of course – a staple in these parts). If you’re doing DIY dins, supermarket supplies for your meals can be picked up in Redruth, 10 minutes’ drive away. You could spend many a day wandering on local trails and beaches, but if you’ve brought the kids it’s handy to know that you’re less than 15 minutes’ drive from all sorts of family attractions, including a castle, a trampoline park and a watersports centre. It’s also just a mile or so to the A30 for those looking to head to more far-flung attractions like St Ives or the Eden Project.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Myself, wife and two dogs Ollie ang Gwyn had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Hillcrest Views Campsite. Communication prior to arrival was spot on, which made finding the site simple. We were met on arrival by Roger who showed us to our pitch, explained where everything was, and what was in the local area.

The location is absolutely ideal, peaceful, scenic, and perfectly positioned for exploring the surrounding area. Pitches were generously sized, providing plenty of space and privacy, which we found ideal with set boundaries to keep dogs in check.

Facilities on-site were excellent, clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Everything we needed was readily available, and it’s clear that the site is managed with care and attention to detail.

Spoke to Amy who highlighted what improvements were intended for the future of the site, all good in my books. You obviously care about the the site and your customers, I wish you all the well in future.

Overall, Hillcrest Views is well cared for and strikes a perfect balance between comfort and nature. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality camping experience in a beautiful setting.

Helen J.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything was perfect. Lots of communication before arrival so knew exactly how to get to site and even had a text on the morning to say our pitch was empty so if we wanted we could arrive earlier than check in time. Amy and Roger were both lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Facilities were really clean and well presented. Really close to local amenities and easy to get around Cornwall from this site. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked We love the fact that there are only 24 pitches, each one separated by hedges. The space in the middle is great for the kids to have a play around and get away from their screens. The staff are very friendly and helpful. This was our 2nd visit and we would be back again next year.

From the manager: Thank you very much for your lovely review! I hope your boys enjoyed the walk to the beach through the woods! It was a pleasure having you back on site again and I loved our chat! Sending you all the best as you round out your year!

David B.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This campsite is just a few miles from home, but we chose it as a little getaway spot for the evening — and it was perfect for exactly that.

Tucked away down a quiet lane, away from the main road, the site feels wonderfully remote and peaceful. The pitches are spacious, easily fitting our car, gazebo, and two four-person tents without feeling cramped.

The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the whole site had a clean, well-kept feel to it. It was quiet and relaxing, yet very family-friendly, with a small football pitch in the middle that kept the kids entertained. (It could have been divided into extra pitches, but I liked that it was left for play instead.)

Facilities were well thought-out. There were two sinks for washing up, complete with scourers and washing-up liquid provided — a thoughtful touch. Toilets and showers were also spotless and well maintained.

Overall, it was a simple, peaceful, and family-friendly spot that ticked all the boxes for a short escape close to home.

From the manager: Thank you so much David for such a thorough review and of course your custom. We have had such great support from local families this year which we really appreciate. We know ourselves, that you don't have to travel far to feel like you are holiday and its often the accumulation of simple things that add up to a lovely felt sense when camping.
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your year!

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a lovely stay at Hillcrest Views. The site is really well kept, with plenty of space and beautiful views across the countryside. The facilities were spotless and made everything easy and comfortable. The owners were friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even nicer. It’s in a great location too – peaceful and quiet, but still close to the coast and local shops. A great spot for a relaxing break in Cornwall.
