  • Quiet back-to-basics site on a working farm in Illogan
  • Golf course, trampoline park and watersports lake within 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes' walk from village pubs and 45 from Portreath beach
A working farm on the edge of a Cornwall village, with easy access to country footpaths and a 45-minute saunter from the beach… the kind of place one could settle in for a lifetime, eh? The folks at Hillcrest Views Campsite certainly think so – the family set up home here over 80 years ago and haven’t budged since. Current owner Amy’s now welcoming guests to share in her tribe’s special spot while making sure it doesn’t lose its peaceful vibe – thus the small site has pleasingly spacious pitches but only basic amenities. Flick through the pics and you’ll note some gorgeous rural views: a fab backdrop for stoking up a barbecue while the kids race about playing games. Admire those views for a bit and you’ll probably think you’re in the middle of nowhere, so it’s pleasing to remember that you’re a mere 10-minute amble from Illogan village and its pub, shops and chippy (plus a pasty shop, of course – a staple in these parts). If you’re doing DIY dins, supermarket supplies for your meals can be picked up in Redruth, 10 minutes’ drive away. You could spend many a day wandering on local trails and beaches, but if you’ve brought the kids it’s handy to know that you’re less than 15 minutes’ drive from all sorts of family attractions, including a castle, a trampoline park and a watersports centre. It’s also just a mile or so to the A30 for those looking to head to more far-flung attractions like St Ives or the Eden Project.

Claire C.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a fabulous place… I told Amy when I left this morning that I wasn’t going to recommend her beautiful site to anyone because I don’t want it to get too busy 🤣
I just had to leave a review tho.
From the welcome text on the morning of my arrival to the lovely chat just before I left, and every conversation in between, Amy could not have been more friendly, warm and welcoming.
Add to that an immaculate toilet & shower block with proper showers (no fumbling for the button with shampoo running in your eyes here!), HUGE semi-private pitches and a fabulous view - what more could you want?
Friendly pub within a 10 minute stroll? Mini supermarket next door to the pub? Walks from the site? Yep, it’s got all that!
On top of which it’s only a very short drive to some incredible beaches, the South West coast path and loads of other attractions.
If Carlsberg did camp sites….
(Showing my age there!)

Disliked Having to leave!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Wow Claire, what a review! You sure can come again. It was a pleasure meeting you last week and sharing common thoughts and views on life - such refreshing conversations! You've said it all - I'm really pleased you enjoyed the simplicity of what we have to offer and what is around us to enjoy! The magic is in being able to receive all the simplicities and the slower pace. I truly wish you all the best over the coming year as you make your way through your personal transitions and we would love to see you back again when you are ready!
All the best until then,
Amy, Roger and family

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Open views, lots of local walks and easy drive to nearby Tehidy Country park.
A short drive to St Ives and other places to visit.
Large private pitches, at an excellent price.

Disliked Facilities are being updated and extended, but everything you needed was there and accessible.

Can be quite a windy spot (as the name suggests 😊)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your thorough review. And yes, you did great despite the winds of 50mph+ that came through the county. I thoroughly enjoyed our chats and I will pop across to see your wares! Wishing you all the best for your next adventures and mischief!

Lana N.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, absolutely loved the hedging and the site is immaculate! The arrival instructions and pre-info were great. What we paid was great too, we used it as a base to explore St Ives. We booked really late and our booking was accommodated easily.

Disliked Only comment i have is that the shower/toilet block was absolutely freezing. My 7 year old was shivering in the shower and to be fair i wasn't much warmer either. The door seems to always be open, I did shut it but then someone opened it back up again. Also the lights at night were minimal, none of them were on when we were walking to the toilet block.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much Lana for your custom as we open this year and your constructive feedback as this helps us to continually refine our site as we go. We hope you had a lovely time exploring the region and wish you all the best for the rest of your Easter Break!

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Spacious pitches, great views

Disliked Showers and toilet block had no heating and with the wind, even though the showers are hot you immediately feel cold.

From the manager: Thank you very much Emma for your custom and your feedback. It was a pleasure meeting you all and chatting on site. Meeting your lovely daughter and Pearl was also such a treat. We will take your feedback on board and you all did really well despite the challenging weather that passed through during your stay. We wish you all best for the rest of your Easter break!

Coming from Redruth, enter Illogan coming up a large hill. At the brow of the hill you will see two chapels opposite one another. Take it slowly here, as the site is 50 yards further on, on the right-hand side opposite a little crossroad sign for Richards Lane. Look out for a concrete lane with central grass verge between two white cottages; this leads up to the site.
