General

  • Scenic three-acre site for peaceful escapes in the South Downs
  • A 20-minute drive to the south coast; 40 minutes to Brighton
  • A few minutes' walk from a waterfall and a mile from Storrington

This friendly site is spacious, peaceful and at the foot of the South Downs – what more could you want from a West Sussex escape? Little Rock Cottage Camping and Glamping is a rural three-acre field shared with lots of wildlife, including deer, foxes, badgers, herons and buzzards.

All in all, it’s just the place for walking holidays in the wilds of West Sussex. There’s access from the site to a footpath for wanders through the Fryern Dell woodland (a five-minute stroll) with its fallen trees, pretty stream and small waterfall; a couple of play parks are also within ambling distance. You can also follow this path straight into the local village of Storrington for access to a café, shops and pubs.

If you'd rather drive, Storrington is five minutes away by road, and main traffic routes, buses and trains (Pulborough station is 10 minutes away) are easy to access, meaning it's a cinch to get out and explore the area's many attractions.

On return after days out pottering along the South Downs Way (10 minutes) or in the pretty villages and handsome National Trust houses nearby, settle in to watch one of the stunning sunsets that regularly grace the sky at this special site – you might even be lucky enough to see a red kite.

A good night's sleep is possible after relaxed evenings as there’s a no-noise policy post-11pm.

Lack of customer service. I drove from Bristol after work and was due to arrive late. My texts and calls went unanswered which was a bummer as its not clear where to enter the campsite.

What a fantastic little place, lovely welcome when we arrived. The facilities were exceptional, your own toilet which even smelt lovely and a fresh towel every day. Showers were hot and clean, and the sink facilities were as good. Good size pitches and just a lovely setting, will definitely recommend to others and will be returning again without a doubt.

This is a really lovely and peaceful site. No music/late nights and great for dogs too. Only 6 pitches (3 are glamping with pre erected tent/pod and shelter). Covid wise it's fantastic... each pitch has it's own allocated portaloo and the washing up area/shower/sinks was clean and tidy with hot water. The shower has a nifty on/off slide switch. Read the email instructions carefully as it can seem like they're not working if you're not sure what to do.

The site is intentionally only part mown and so is wonderfully idyllic with long grass and butterflies. Pack tick tweezers... we did a careful check and found just one!

Storrington is a very short drive away and can supply most things that you would need (including a nice play park!).

Fire pits are provided on site and you can buy wood there too. In a flash of inspiration we even got a takeaway delivered to the site on the second night.

We didn't try this time but there are pubs in walking distance.

Amazing quite place. Everything you need is there:
Kitchen equipment, fire pit, BBQ, chairs and table, clean shower and separate toilet for each tent, nice comfortable beds, little candles and fairy lights in the tent. Everything is nice and clean.

Only few tents on the land and far away from each other which is great for privacy lovers🤩 very helpful host, Thanks Pam.

We stayed in a pod and all we needed to bring was bedding. Full kitchen equipment was available. Hot powerful showers and hot water for washing dishes. Walks from the site to watch sunset and see deer. Had car trouble and owner came to give me a jump start within 10 minutes so very generous people.

Portaloo toilets! It brought the whole experience down that there wasn't a toilet block but Portaloo. Smell became bad after 2 days.

Really nice little campsite. Only six or so pitches, and they are very well spaced from each other, so it's very quiet and peaceful. The facilities (toilets, showers and washing up space) are basic but clean.

Good location for visiting Arundel, the South Downs and the beaches on the South Coast.

The washing up and shower facilities were really good.Theses were cleaned daily. Each tent had its own toilet which again was cleaned daily with fresh towels provided.
A covid safe campsite with great views and a lovely host.Would definitely recommend and will will definitely return next year.

Local attractions

Serious walkers have the gorgeous traffic-free South Downs Way within a 10-minute drive, while for active times on the water there's canoe and kayak hire in peaceful surroundings down the road at Pulborough (10 minutes; parking available at the station). If you're interested in mountain bike hire, a dinosaur play area for the kids and more watersports opportunities, Southwater Country Park (20 minutes) is within easy reach as well.

For something just a little less active, there's Steyning village (20 minutes) with its independent shops, St. Mary's House and Gardens (20 minutes) with its lovingly landscaped grounds and Petworth House and Park (30 minutes), a Grade I-listed country manor with 900 years of history to discover.

Staying on a historical theme, you could continue through the countryside to Arundel (20 minutes), home to a spectacular medieval castle, a cathedral, a wetlands centre and a boating lake. Chichester (half an hour) has similar vibes with its cathedral close, art galleries and cobbled streets, while Brighton (40 minutes) is unlikely to disappoint with its iconic Pavilion, seafront, pier and Volk's Electric Railway.
