Waggoners Campsite at Hampton Estate: Spacious pitch

General

  • Family-run farm campsite with access to the North Downs Way
  • Half a mile from Seale; Guildford a 10-minute drive
  • Off-grid site with gas barbecue for communal use

If ‘secluded but certainly not isolated’ sounds like the sort of location that’s just right for you, take a look at Waggoners Campsite at Hampton Estate. This family-run site is surrounded by scenic Surrey countryside, and yet it’s a mere half-mile from the little village of Seale and only a little further from the A31.

All is peaceful and pretty at this site – pitches are part of a large field fringed by woodland, and they have stunning views over the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The staff here make an extra effort to create a friendly camping experience, with an emphasis on space, seclusion and escapism.

This environmentally conscious spot also tries to minimise its impact on the planet, with green solutions like hand-made compost loos and cold wild woodland showers. The whole place is off grid so it might be a good idea to bring a torch along. Barbecues are permitted for alfresco cooking, and you may be able to make use of the communal gas-fired barbecue.

Fancy seeing some more of that lovely countryside? There are direct links to the North Downs Way and Surrey Cycleway trails from here, and several good places to take the dog for a walk nearby too. If the kids aren’t into all that walking, they may like to know that both Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures are a little over half an hour’s drive away.

Please note

No charcoal barbecues allowed.

Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Single-sex bookings of 8 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The whole site was great and I would highly recommend! The space was beautiful and tucked away amongst the trees. I really appreciated the environmental facilities, such as compostable toilets and little details. Plenty of drinking water.

The pitch was well organised and the site manager Sophie was very helpful via text. I had plenty of space and pitch choice, and it was wonderfully peaceful for my stay. I enjoyed a walk at beautiful Puttenham common after my tasty dinner at the local pub.

    Disliked:

I have nothing bad to say about the experience.

Good clean toilets, friendly managed by owners

The outside shower. However a cold shower in nature was exactly what I needed after a stuffy night camping. Woke me up fresh with nature :)
