What customers say
This well-maintained campsite boasts a beautiful riverside location, offering excellent access for watersports and scenic walks. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, the on-site cafe, and the peaceful atmosphere. While many enjoy the spacious pitches and family-friendly activities, some visitors note issues with mosquitoes, especially during warmer months, and occasional noise from nearby roads. Very disappointed
Non-electric forest floor motorhome pitch (woodland)
Liked Nice location near the water
Disliked After staying at Bainbridge Campsite I have to say I was very disappointed with the facilities.
I arrived in my campervan and was directed to park alongside what appeared to be a roadside area, which was not at all what I expected from a woodland campsite experience.
The campsite has only three toilets for all guests, which proved inadequate. On one morning, we had to wait around 20 minutes to use the facilities, as some people appeared to be using the toilets to wash themselves. The one and only Shower cost £1 per use, which feels excessive when pitches are already £30 per night.
We also purchased a bucket of firewood for £5, only to find that the wood was very damp and difficult to use. Considering the quality, the price seemed unreasonable. The website states that guests are not allowed to bring their own firewood, which makes the poor quality even more frustrating.
Another issue was waste disposal. Although there were some bins on site, we were told to take our rubbish home. It would be helpful if more bins were provided so guests could dispose of their waste responsibly before leaving.
As a campervan user, I was also disappointed that there was no facility to empty a portable toilet or chemical toilet. This is a basic service that many campervan and motorhome users would expect.
Overall, I felt the campsite was poor value for money and lacked several facilities that should be standard for a site charging these prices.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Such a shame to see a 1/10 review when your friend that stayed with you that weekend gave a 10/10 review.
We do not have any roads within the campsite. Your pitch was in the woodland opposite the lake.
It does state in our information that showers are chargeable, therefore you would have been well aware of this before arrival. This covers the cost of standing charge, Kwh charge, staff to clean them and cleaning products. There is also two showers not one.
Your friend came and told us about the wood and was most satisfied and happy when it was all exchanged and you was given a new batch including extra for the inconvenience and our sincere apologies.
Again, it clearly states in our information that rubbish is to be taken home. You would have known this when you booked. However it is something we are looking into.
We wish you well on any further camping adventures you have and would like to remind you that our family works tirelessly to provide everything for campers visiting us. We would have liked to hear from you about your concerns whilst on site so that we could have hopefully rectified and discussed them rather than in a 1/10 review when you got home compared to your friends 10/10.
To avoid disappointment on your travels, please do take the time to read all information campsites provide to ensure it suits your needs before staying as everything you have raised is clearly stated. Not to mention the running costs of a campsite from maintenance, cleaning and restocking toilet/showers/washing up areas, improving facilities, grass cutting, chainsaw work, machinery, insurances, staffing, water, electric, being on call 24/7 for guests etc. We are a small family run business and put everything we have into what we do.

Great location perfect for nature lovers, uncomfortable sleep
Safari tent (waterside)
Liked Loved the location right on top of the river side, having our own fire pit gas bbq outdoor furniture was perfect, seeing all the wildlife and being around nature, great walks, brilliant space for the kids to run around
Disliked No bins and having to take it home especially when staying in over 30 degree heat, beds extremely uncomfortable could do with a softer mattress, So many mosquito’s we got bit to death which isn’t a reflection of the accommodation but it could have done with some sort of mosquito killer, some family’s where not interested in the quite times as per rules

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are so glad you enjoyed the location and seeing all of the wildlife we have around us.
Being alongside the river Medway and having our own lake on site we are very lucky with the amount of wildlife we have around us. Unfortunately at certain times of year that does also include mosquitos. It's a shame we didn't realise how much trouble they were causing you whilst you were here as we always have Bug repellent available in The Hub.
We are sorry you didn't find the bed to your liking. It is difficult to please everyone, but had we have known you weren't finding them comfortable we would have been able to provide mattress toppers or we could have made up the sofa bed for you instead.
We apologise if you found other families were not following the guidelines around quiet times onsite. We appreciate this can be frustrating and we would always welcome anyone having problems to call us on the out of hours number we provided.
We are really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the accommodation and the kids enjoyed having the space to run around.
We hope to see you back with us soon.

Liked Lovely picturesque spot right near the river with some lovely walks and a good cafe on site. Very helpful staff and easy to get to .
Disliked Unfortunately the lake in the middle of the campsite, pretty though it was, meant that there was serious mosquito problem - the mosquitoes were huge (bigger than I had ever seen) and lots of them. We all ended up with a lot of bites, in spite of bringing repellant. This does mean we won't be coming back, which is a shame, as it was a lovely spot in all other regards.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are glad you enjoyed the walks and on site cafe.
We are sorry you were bothered by the mosquitos on the weekend you were here. Being alongside the river Medway and pitches located around a lake we do naturally find ourselves homes to insects at certain times of year and unfortunately the very hot weather seemed to bring them out in force that weekend, We are sorry this hindered your stay.
We are really pleased you enjoyed yourselves whilst you were here anyway and hope that you may come and see us again if your travels bring you this way.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others
