Location and amenities. It was great to be able to walk straight to the beach, some lovely walks and good facilities on site.

    Disliked:

Getting stuck in the mud. The touring pitches are not level and a number of vans got stuck during our stay.

Drainage was poor, toilets were dirty, showers were broken, only one elsan point in the far toilet block, site isn’t dog friendly (doesn’t allow dogs in the bar, also no dog area) but the thing that annoyed me the most was their John Deer 4x4 things that just drove past every 10min for no apparent reason!

    Scenery , squirrels.

    Disliked:

Long walk uphill to shop and other facilities, which was a problem for us due to mobility issues.Approach road very narrow with few passing points.
Could have been more Elsan facilities, one at each toilet block would make sense.
Only use toilet block once as found it wasn’t at all clean , with toilet paper and human waste visible in and around several toilets.
Was alarmed at the total disregard for traffic flow, parking arrangements ,as well as the number of skateboards and hoverboards being used on the roadways.
Our tv signal was poor even though we have got good equipment, possibly due to where we were pitched so close to trees. For us , permanent pitches with tatty windbreaks and washing hanging out spoil the ‘ holiday’ experience with some of these set ups lookied very scruffy and dirty.
Would like to suggest a direct straight, permanent, concrete path from touring site to shop/ facilities.

Local attractions

With the lovely St Helens within strolling distance, visitors would be forgiven for staying close to home; however, other Blue Flag beaches such as Sandown are but a short drive away (and dinosaur fans will enjoy the animatronics in the pterodactyl-shaped Dinosaur Isle museum here too).

The carnival town of Ryde with its pier and marina is only three miles from Nodes Point, and the neighbouring village of Bembridge has a pretty harbour and some great pubs and restaurants, as well as the only windmill remaining on the island.

Fakenham Farm offers the usual farmyard friends, plus a smattering of more exotic species.

Visitors will also be chuffed with the views offered by the magnificent machines of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which stages many special events in season and also hosts a falconry display.

Must see

  • Dinosaur Isle (3.6 miles)
  • Isle of Wight Steam Railway (4.8 miles)
  • Royal Navy Submarine Museum (5.8 miles)

National Trust

  • Bembridge Windmill (1.4 miles)
  • Newtown Old Town Hall (13.1 miles)
