What customers say
This peaceful, low-key campsite offers beautiful views and a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly, welcoming hosts who go the extra mile. Guests appreciated the opportunity to see farm animals and the secluded location. While facilities are minimal and focus on a "proper camping" experience, some visitors noted issues with the ground, maintenance, and a lack of showers. It is recommended for those seeking a natural camping experience.

First and last time using pitch up.
Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch
Liked Lots of spaces, some animals to look at in the fields alongside the campsite. Owners friendly and around to talk to. Quiet area
Disliked Where we were the ground had large ruts and holes which wasn’t ideal for the kids to play as I was afraid they would hurt themselves.
Also we paid £44 for two nights in a nt and there were motorbikes that we camped with that only paid £10 per night so felt a little off. That’s the only thing that would put me going back it the discrepancy in charging but the motorhomes booked directly with a the campsite rather than pitch up so would recommend going directly to starter than using pitch up tbh.
First and last time using pitch up. But I would consider rebooking with the campsite itself

From the manager: Hi, the motorhomes were a local Isle of Wight group who we try and encourage to stay, hence the price. This group supports local community interest companies and selected us this year as their favoured charity.
As for the cracks in the soil we have been under constant sun since Aprill, since we are a clay soil farm, the heat dries out the clay and creates hard cracks in the ground which is a real problem, completely the opposite in the winter where we have to wear wellies or sink in th clay! So, sorry about that, it is very frustrating for us as well. But it is wild camping
I appreciate this review and gives us an idea what if anything we could do about it!!

Back to basics site with everything we needed for a peaceful stay.
Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch
Liked Super chilled, friendly site. Loved waking up to sheep looking through the fence at me and the cows and pigs in the fields. Was walking the coastal path with my teenage son and camping along the way so this was a good location for us.

Needs more investment into facilities.
Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch
Liked Nature, staff genuinely friendly.
Disliked Campsite on an incline which isn't ideam. Bigger problem seems to have been a lack of investment.
Composting toilets work well when you climb stairs and it is a giant bucket so other ppls poo is a long way away, these appear to be ground level not much bigger than buckets. There is only so much compromise I want to do for saving the world.
Shower suffers from drainage problems and isn't super clean, I really didn't want to end up standing in that murky water. The door also is impossible to clean from the inside...

From the manager: Hi, thanks for your review. The compost toilets were from a German company specialising in this. The buckets were of proper size, understand you think it needs to be deeper, but we suffer from underground water hence they are higher. I will look into this and see what we can do! As for the shower door, I'm not sure what you mean.
Can't do much about the slope, we are a working farm and it is wild camping for only a short period of 2 months.
Thanks for your suggestions

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch
Liked Host was lovely. He stayed in contact to ensure we got to the site okay and met us there to help set up and find our way. We were just stopping over night before completing our walk across the island and Tony made sure we had everything we could need. Also being able to go see the animals on the farm was a really nice bonus. Great service and lovely place to set up camp

Liked 2nd time staying here. Idyllic location.
Disliked I'll be totally honest that I left a bit disappointed after such an amazing stay last time. As a general note, I think if there are going to be building works/maintenance then the site should closed for a short time in the off season. I'm aware it's a working farm but this was in close proximity, not in the next field... There was also allot of mess around and caravans (which the listing says are not allowed on site) this all made me feel a bit unwelcome.
The area on which you can actually pitch has also been also greatly reduced due to a new fence. I also note the toilets have been moved into a prime tent pitching spot under a tree - I really think this should be kept free as many campers will like the flat, sheltered spot that they're in. Just my opinion.
I'm an experienced wild camper and will stay anywhere - but the mess to wild ratio was a bit off this time... I hope I just visited on a bad weekend and as I'd like to stay again when on the island.

From the manager: Thanks for pointing this out Jack. We didn't know the contractor was going to start so early, which caught us out, the Friday before you arrived. Hence the mess you saw!.it is always difficult to get stuff done on the farm at the best of times!
We will offer a full refund or come back next year free of charge, I'm closing the farm down this weekend for the winter. Hopefully our update to the farm will be completed by spring!!
