Meadow Tree Farm: Tents among the trees

General

  • Rural dog-friendly adults-only site in Sherfield English
  • Half an hour's drive from Salisbury and 10 minutes from the New Forest
  • Cosy country pub within a 15-minute stroll

To Hampshire for a holiday in a rather relaxed kid-free spot? Meadow Tree Farm is a friendly adults-only site spread over 21 acres on the edge of the village of Sherfield English, about 10 minutes' drive from Romsey.

There's plenty of space for you (and any doggie companions you may have brought along) to chill out on site, with easily accessible woodland walks and, most importantly, a cosy country pub a gentle 15-minute stroll away. Fishing lakes are next door and there are fab trails for ramblers and cyclists a few miles away in the New Forest National Park.

Back at base the laidback vibe is preserved by keeping facilities to a minimum, but the essentials are all in place, including toilets, showers and a washing-up area.

Sounds good? You'd better be quick: Meadow Tree Farm is a pop-up site that's only open for a limited amount of time each year.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Guests under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Single-sex bookings of 10 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Meadow Tree Farm allows large groups, including stag and hen parties. While every effort is made to ensure the comfort of all guests, please be aware that some noise should sometimes be expected.

Please note that the toilet and shower facilities are contained within a single unisex block.

Fab time had re-living my childhood camping days!06/09/2021

Owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the woodland pitches and being able to pitch up where you liked was great. We ended up in a spot tucked against the woodland, which enabled plenty of privacy, which was ideal as I can be very introverted at times, and don't like to feel like people are looking/listening in.

This is a working farm so some noise is expected, but we personally learnt to ignore it pretty quickly, plus having the chickens and ducks roaming freely was fab. We ended up having one specific chicken with us all the time, so he was named Clucky and became our camping pet. Stopped us feeling so left out as everyone had dogs and we didn't haha.

We also LOVED that it is adults only! We will 100% be back next year!

    Disliked:

The toilets could use more frequent cleaning. We arrived Friday and they were pretty decent but from the next day on they were pretty gross at times, especially the obviously favored end cubicle. I feel this could be avoided with a quick daily clean.

Only other little downside was that there is no firewood to purchase on site, so we ended up venturing into town for more. There is woodland to rummage but many were and supplies were sparse. The owner has advised that they do plan to rectify this next year by having it for sale, so no big issue!

Quiet, respectful site. Camp fires and dogs. Woodland pitches. I love this campsite, 2nd year back here now and it was brilliant seeing chickens and ducks added to the menagerie. Being able to pitch the tent in little nooks and crannies in the woods is fab, I now have a favourite spot.
