Meadow Tree Farm: Grass pitches

General

  • Rural dog-friendly adults-only site in Sherfield English
  • Half an hour's drive from Salisbury and 10 minutes from the New Forest
  • Cosy country pub within a 15-minute stroll

To Hampshire for a holiday in a rather relaxed kid-free spot? Meadow Tree Farm is a friendly adults-only site spread over 21 acres on the edge of the village of Sherfield English, about 10 minutes' drive from Romsey.

There's plenty of space for you (and any doggie companions you may have brought along) to chill out on site and, most importantly, a cosy country pub a gentle 15-minute stroll away. Fishing lakes are next door and there are fab trails for ramblers and cyclists a few miles away in the New Forest National Park.

Back at base the laidback vibe is preserved by keeping facilities to a minimum, but the essentials are all in place, including toilets, showers and a washing-up area.

Sounds good? You'd better be quick: Meadow Tree Farm is a pop-up site that's only open for a limited amount of time each year.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Single-sex bookings of 10 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

A cable measuring at least 5 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Guests under the age of 21 are not allowed on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Meadow Tree Farm allows large groups, including stag and hen parties. While every effort is made to ensure the comfort of all guests, please be aware that some noise should sometimes be expected.

Fires must be contained in a fit for purpose container raised at least 10cm (4 inches) above the ground. Guests may be asked not to have any campfire if the risk of wildfires is too high.

Not enough spaced out electric hook ups .
The site needs a new shower and toilet block. Only one very dirty shower and 3 toilets.
Not up to the usual standard of other sites stayed at.

From the manager...

I am very sorry you did not enjoy your stay and I have to say I am slightly confused as to why.

You stayed for the full duration of your booking and did not alert us of any issues with your stay. All guests have a contact number for me plus it is located at several points around the site. I am also on site at all times and do walk around checking guests are enjoying thier stay and at no point did you raise any of your issues or concerns.

The toilets are checked and cleaned 3/4 times a day and I had not been alerted to any issues outside of these times if I had they would have been addressed instantly.

This is the first time anyone has mentioned that there was not enough space around the electric hookups and if you had bought this to our attention we could have offered you an extension cable so you could have camped further away.

Our facilities are clearly advertised as they are minimal and basic so I am unsure what you were expecting. Next time you have an issue with a site please address it with the site directly so they can attempt to rectify the issue before you give them a bad review.

Love it. Forest floor pitches were great. Able to switch off. Area was large so very spaced out from others. Owners really friendly. We didn’t have a dog but is a dog friendly site.

A lovely little place on a working farm. Met upon arrival by owner Kylie who told us everything we needed to know about our stay.
The pitches are not marked out regimentally, so you pitch near to one of the hookups (if you're using one) We chose a pitch and set ourselves up. We the first there but when others came along, everyone had generous amount of space between each other.

The weather was hot and sunny and the woodland which was behind us gave us decent shade.

There's a lovely little idependant garden centre just up the road which has a cafe and the local pub is a 10 minute walk further on.

Upon departure, we were waved off by Kylie who we told that we would be back sometime soon.

    A very relaxing night away.

    Disliked:

That we couldn't stay longer than the one night!

    Peaceful, adults only, relaxed campsite.

    Super dog friendly. Lovely owner.

We had a rowdy group behind us and the owner was quick to quieten them down.

We stayed the whole weekend despite the below because it was a really relaxing weekend.

    Disliked:

The facilities - there were only 3 toilets and 1 shower which definitely wasn’t enough. The owner said there were 100 people staying on the Saturday night - and at times the facilities got very dirty.

The owner did her best to keep the toilet block clean though - it’s just the number of people using them meant it was a little tricky.

We got there early which meant we were able to secure an okay pitch but we were told to pitch the other side of the tree line which had less grassy pitches and more shaded pitches - I think we would’ve struggled if we had arrived later.

It’s a relaxing campsite but given the items above it’s just not the campsite for us and therefore wouldn’t return.
