  • Family-run and dog-friendly park in a calm countryside setting
  • Peppa Pig World and Romsey town centre within 15 minutes’ drive
  • Dog-walking area, café and open spaces for kids to play in
Treat yourself to a holiday at Hill Farm Caravan Park, a dog-friendly and family-run site a 15-minute drive from the popular Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park and less than 20 minutes from the numerous walking trails of the New Forest. A grand spot for keeping the kids entertained when they’re not fawning over their favourite cartoon character, this site has open spaces for kids to play in and a dog walk leading down to the site’s woods, where four-legged friends can frolic off-lead. If the sprogs (and dogs) in your life aren’t travelling with you, the park still makes a great base – it’s a top spot for touring the Test Valley (20 minutes’ drive) and Stonehenge (40 minutes) or visiting the cities of Southampton, Salisbury and Winchester (all within half an hour). Ferries set off from half an hour away if you’re off to France or the Isle of Wight. Staying local? The park’s handily placed for horse riding, walking or fly and coarse fishing breaks. Come evening, it’s a peaceful place as the no-noise policy after 11pm boosts the chances of a good night’s snooze. Head to the local pub, a 20-minute walk away, for supper and a pint just before bedding down; for breakfast and lunch, the on-site café serves up all-day breakfasts, light bites and homemade cakes. A shop on the grounds sells alcohol, groceries, newspapers and a small selection of caravan and camping essentials.

Liked Great site
Absolutely amazing staff who were so friendly and helpful!
Clean

Disliked Only 2 things that dropped a star for was
1. the stock in the shop, considering they were expecting it to be packed out at the site that weekend, I'd have expected the fridges to have been well stocked, they were almost empty.
2. Pitch sizes along where we were put were a bit on the small size, next doors camper van was parked on their line, as we're we, and we could touch their van leaning out of our chair! Another metre wider would be ok for our small setup, but if you were in anything bigger it would be pretty tight.
Other pitches varied and were much bigger.

Electric grass pitch

Liked This is a nice site. We had a friendly welcome at reception which doubles as a small shop supplying a few basic groceries and camping supplies. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean everyday, plenty of hot water in the showers and the shower head was the ‘rain’ variety so bring a shower cap if you don’t want to get your head/hair wet. We booked a grass electric pitch for a large family sized tent, the pitch was a good size, level and each electric point had a water tap next to it, so didn’t have to walk across the field to get fresh water. All the dog owners kept their dogs on leads and used the dog walk area to walk and toilet their dogs. Key code barrier at the site entrance gives some security against car/ caravan theft. The site was not busy when we were there. Small cafe on site, we had breakfast on our last day and it was all delicious. Thanks for a nice stay.

Disliked A few negatives… Reception seemed to be closed most afternoons and on Sunday morning. No one was around when we wanted to ask a question or report a problem. Washing up room was in another field on the far side of the site, it seemed a long way away, only 3 washing up sinks for the whole site, it wasn’t a problem for us as the site was not busy. Showers were unisex, which we weren’t aware of when we booked. Toilets didn’t flush well. The pitches in the tent field weren’t clearly marked, so there was confusion about where the pitch boundary was. Some areas of the site were a little tired and need some smartening up, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

Local attractions

Once the kids have cuddled Peppa Pig at Paultons Park (20 minutes' drive), flock towards other animal-themed activities nearby such as Longdown Activity Farm (15 minutes) where families gather to watch the Friesian cows being milked, groom the ponies and feed the baby goats. Kids can’t get enough of creatures? Marwell Zoo houses more than 200 rare species, from tigers and snow leopards to rhinos and hippos, and the Hawk Conservancy Trust cares for birds in its combined 22 acres of woodland and wildflower meadows. Both are around half an hour away. If urban explores are on the agenda, Romsey (15 minutes) is the nearest market town for a wander round the shops, while the promise of a peek at one of Britain’s best cathedrals might be enough to lure you over to the city of Salisbury (25 minutes).
