  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View has many little touches to jazz up your break: purchase a pass at the poolside to access the indoor heated pool and paddling pool. During the high season, there is entertainment every night, as well as children's activities from 10am to 1pm every day. (In the low season, the children's activities run on weekends from 12pm to 2pm instead.) Adults can use their kids-free time to watch Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers, a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and a pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

What customers say

This site offers beautiful views and friendly, helpful staff. Facilities, including the clubhouse, swimming pool, and toilets, are generally praised for cleanliness. Many guests highlight the excellent entertainment and amenities for children. However, some touring pitches are described as small, uneven, and poorly maintained, with cleanliness issues in the toilet blocks and overflowing bins reported by some visitors.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked The pod was a good size and was easy to find. The bed was comfy and linen was fresh.

Disliked After receiving my key and finding my pod I entered into an uncleaned pod. In the sink there was at least 3 dead, dried and shrived spiders. Around the edges of both the back and the front end of the pod was covered with cobwebs. I got the impression someone had been in because my bed linen was fresh but that's all they did. Put fresh bedding down. The pod looked like it hadn't seen a duster for a long time.

Once I'd put my belongings down I went to reception to let them know. About the pod and asked if someone could clean it as I was going out and wouldn't be back till later that evening. She wrote it down said ok thanks for that I'll send someone.

In returning later that evening the pod was exactly the same as I'd left it. No one had been to clean the cobwebs away or give it a once over. So I ended up having to do it myself.

I had to leave early at about 7:30am on the Sunday and was hoping to talk to someone at reception but it was closed so i was unable to.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked Clubhouse was a good atmosphere.
Local area was lovely.

Disliked Pitches very uneven and expensive at £45 a night.
Amusement’s were very expensive. No 2p machines, all 10p.
Lack of sign posting for touring pitches, has to reverse caravan at reception area as it was at beginning.

Liked Views
Staff nice
Shop was brilliant addition

Disliked How un maintained the pitches and facilities were. Glass was found on pitches, rubbish and not all eletric pitches worked. Toilet when we went was completely flooded for the whole weekend without anyone doing anything. Couldn't use toilet or showers without going swimming through a few inches of dirty toilet water.
Last time we went swimming was free, very un maintained but included in site price. Now the site is the same price and swimming has to be paid for at 6quid an adult and 4quid a child. Which half was used for swimming lessons all weekend.
Arcade was a swizz, all games unmaintained and either didn't work or stole your money.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
